Oooh i just couldn't wait to get stuck into these lush new papers from basic grey. My two layouts are so easy to achieve negative space is a must and attention to detail always makes the most simplest layouts look fuller. You can get so much more out of your papered papers by using them this way. I also love the the stylish sticker sheet that comes with this range. I find you can get alot more out of your sticker sheets if you mount the stickers onto card stock - it makes them thicker easier to give your layouts more dimension. Just click on the layout to blow up the inage copy i am sure all of you will be able to acheive these layouts xx

using your scraps...
Do you have lots of scraps sitting around...i know i do...and when i love a paper line i try to use it all up, even the tiny bits or scraps that are left over. I am going to show you some of my cards and pages that i have made only using the scraps left over from another page...
Okay first up is a card i made using the Delovely line from Cosmo Cricket...you can find this line - here...
This first card was dictated by the scraps that i had...i only had thin strips left over for most of pattern paper...so it meant that i was really restricted as to what i could do...so i chose a card....i cut up some of the strips into small squares...
added some pearls to separate them ...added a sentiment stamp...using Technique Tuesday stamps...and a punched out flower using this punch...
Next up i made this page using my Cosmo Cricket stash...there are so many lines from this company that just work together so i keep them together...i was left with lots of circles that i had punched out for something else and had not used....and as i keep every little piece of scrap paper ( because you just never know) i wanted to use them...it was an idea i had in my head for a while and this was the perfect opportunity to do it...so i grabbed the left over circles and started!!!!
I even used a flower that i had punched out for another page and had not used...i also used some scalloped punches which can be found here...
Next up is one i did using some Echo Park...from the Life is good line...this is my fav line of theirs...i have used it till there is nothing left and i will go back for more as the colours are just perfect and each piece of paper is eye candy... i made two pages from my scraps that i had left over from a Papermaze workshop...
The first one has already been shown on here...
I did the circles as...one...i had loads left over from the workshop that i didnt use and i had some of the squares from the element sheet left over so i challenged myself to use just those...
The next one i did was using scraps of scraps...there was nothing left of this line after i did it...not bad...3 pages and a card out of several sheets of pattern paper huh...
I did this one using the scraps of scraps of the Echo Park line...i didn't have much left so i knew this one had to have small splashes of colour...i kept the background plain by using a sheet of the basic Greys basics and then let the small pieces of pattern paper pop though...
Give this a go...Just when you thought you had finished with a line...put your thinking cap on...look at those scraps and just see where your imagination will take you...

Bo Bunny Sophie Card
I scalloped the edge of my base card using a Martha Stewart border punch. I cut 2 strips from Bo Bunny Sophie - Stripe paper
I attached these to the edge of the card and added a ribbon bow
I cut the bracket shape out from the Bo Bunny Sophie - Cut Outs paper. To jazz up the black border I drew round the edge with glossy accents and put black glitter on top.
I used some prima swirls for the flower stems
And then I cut out some flowers from the Bo Bunny Sophie - Bouquet paper. I stuck these to the card with 3d foam to give some height.
Here is the finished card. I just need to add a greeting.

Summer Lovin with Fancy Pants
I have a page class for you today.
The 'Wishful Thinking' collection from Fancy Pants just shouts out summer to me, so today we are going to make this summery LO.
To make this LO, you will need the following ingredients:
1 x 5x7 photo
1 x 12x12 bazzill (it doesn't have to be the correct shade of green to match, whites or creams will do too)
1 x Wishful Thinking - Rose Petals
1 x Wishful Thinking - Banner
1 x Wishful Thinking Sticker Sheet
1 x Paint Dabber - Willow
1 x Jack & Jill White Alphas by Doodlebug
Some embroidery thread
pen
Some 3d foam tape
Scissors
and a paper piercer.
To start with take your piece of bazzill. I wanted to match my background frame (which is what the bazzill will become)with the green leaves on the Rose Petals paper. My green bazzill wasn't the correct shade, so by painting the willow paint around the outside gave me the perfect shade of green. You can do this to a white or cream piece. Don't worry about painting it perfect, just roughly painted on looks good.
And the centre will be covered by your petal page, so you can leave that bit plain.
I had already cut my petal page down to size so that it fits nicely on my piece of bazzill which then becomes my frame. I now want to rough and distress those edges up a bit. Take a pair of scissors and scrape the sides of your petal paper. Go careful not to cut yourself and always scrape away from yourself.
Your petal page is now ready to stick on the centre of your bazzill frame.
Now take your chosen photo and stick in place. I've used a 5x7 which I feel fills the page nicely.
Then take the banner paper and cut out 2 rows of the bunting.
When sticking it to the page, I like to cut small squares of the 3d foam tape and stick on every other little flag. This raises it up slightly from the page.
I've stuck the alphas down on the right hand side of my photo creating my title and now take the sticker sheet. I've used a large and small heart and stuck, overlapping on the left hand side.
Come comes some faux stitching. Simply take your paper piercer and pierce holes around both hearts. Then taken your pen and join up the holes. This then gives you a stitched look without having to sew.
Now comes the embroidery thread. I like to use 3 strands. I then tie a bow on the bunting. I do like to use a small amount of glue to stick the strands in place, but you don't have to.
And now you have your page.
I hope you have enjoyed this class.
Please do come back and show us if you join in.
Thank you xx

No Place Like Home
The Basic Grey Capella collection has been designed with a wedding theme, but when I saw the colours, I realised they would be ideal for an off-the-page project I had in mind.
A couple of years ago, I bought some large MDF letters at a craft show, spelling the word 'HOME', and I just hadn't got round to doing anything with them. I decided to finally dig them out:
I was only going to cover the top surface with paper, so I painted the edges using cream acrylic paint to disguise the MDF:
I coated the top surface with PVA glue, and stuck it down onto a piece of my chosen paper:
and then cut around the edge with scissors (I used small scissors for the fiddly bits, you could also use a craft knife):
Here is the finished result in pride of place on top of my living room door:
I had originally wondered if I might embellish the letters, but once they were covered, I decided I liked them just the way they were. Simple but effective!

The Girl's Paperie On Holiday
It's coming to that time of year when we start gathering a lot of holiday photographs to scrap, and to aid us in our (often endless!) quest to get all our memories recorded, helpful scrapbook companies obligingly produce some gorgeous travel-themed ranges. The Girl's Paperie On Holiday range is no exception - no garish pictures of fish and snorkels here, but tasteful images of maps, stamps and assorted travel regalia with complementing patterns in a range of yellows, pale blues, reds and leafy greens.
But of course, I decided to be difficult, and see if I could use the range to scrap something a bit out of season - I took this photograph on a Winter trip to Brighton, and the tones of the photo had often prevented me from scrapping it before, because they were so sombre and dark. I wanted to get across the fact that this was a resort out of season, but also the fact that Brighton is actually a very colourful and diverse place. This was what I ended up with...
The page makes use of the lovely map printed paper, which has a zig-zag edge precut. I anchored my image to the page using some strong red polka dot paper, and a strip of a slightly paler pattern - take care not to leave a photograph 'floating' when using busy background paper. I created the title using Making Memories, My Little Shoebox and American Crafts alphas, and added a 7 Gypsies sticker quote which seemed appropriate to the subject matter. But of course, I decided to be difficult, and see if I could use the range to scrap something a bit out of season - I took this photograph on a Winter trip to Brighton, and the tones of the photo had often prevented me from scrapping it before, because they were so sombre and dark. I created the simple decorative flags using triangles of the leftover paper and a length of thick string which I cut from an old gift-bag - I stapled the paper to the string, then stapled the whole thing to the page in a wave pattern.
To add a touch of detail to the edge of the page, I created a small embellishment using a paper flower, decorative leaf pin and a sticker (also 7Gypsies) which I mounted on top using sticky foam pads.
The final page is suitably nostalgic, but also reminds me of the fun and games that used to take place on this ruined pier.

3 Cards, I Sketch
Sometimes if I have a few cards to make I like to make up a simple sketch.
So this week I made this:
and then made these three cards using Fancy Pants - Wishful Thinking Papers, Element Sticker Sheet and the matching strips too.
This card has been made using a border punch and this butterfly punch. I've used a sticker from the sticker sheet, some mini alphas and just stapled a piece of trimming in place.
The next card starts off with a different border punch and I made a luggage tag. I cut the tag from kraft paper and then used a cuttlebug embossing folder for the corrugated look.
I've used the October Afternoon alpha stickers for my greeting.
And I finished it off with a large flower punch.
The last card has been made using the strips, the stickers and the same flower punch and alpha stickers.
I like the fact that I've used the same sketch for all three cards, the same papers and stickers and have made 3 different cards.
Please feel free to use the sketch and link back to us to show what you've made.
Thanks for looking x
