Fancy some cards?

I have been thinking about getting my christmas cards done lately...yes a bit late, but life has got in the way over the last month so I am making a late start! ha!

Anyway I have made two to show you today!

Here they are individually...

I had seen this type of card with the folded ribbon over the internet lately...and I wanted to try it...but as I am not a ribbon fan ( and don't own any!!!!) I had to try and replicate it using paper...it turned out well! though not one I would want to send through the post.

I added some stamping to the background...and some buttons to the snowflakes!

Here is a look at the card from the side.

and the other one...

I cut the front half of the card off in a diagonal line...just to make it a bit different!
the products used on these cards are.... Echo Park this and that Christmas line and some simple stories cardstock stickers.

Sketch time

Hi Tracee here with another layout and sketch to share with you using the fabulous Midway collection by October Afternoon that Vanessa has in the shop here

This time I chose a sketch from another favourite sketch site of mine Page Maps, each month they have a new set of sketches for all page sizes, I stuck with the 12 x 12 as this is the size I use most of the time. Although this one could just as easily be converted to 8 1/2 x 11
I generally like to approach a sketch with an open mind and see how far I can push it without losing sight of it totally
This one has a patchwork effect to it but I didn't want to stick to the squares of paper so I used arrows at the bottom and overlapped all the "squares at the top"
So while you can't see the pattern of the sketch so much you see the shape is still there

One of the great things about October afternoon is that it has great backsides as well as the front
I used a strip of the Gray stars on the back of the  Photo Booth paper as an anchor for my photo to cling onto and built everything else around it

The matching word stickers for this collection are really nice and I put one through the printer for my journaling

How cute are the chipboard cameras by Heidi Swapp? The large one made a great base for a word sticker.
Some thickers (Papermaze has a great selection of them) for the title and a couple of strips of Washi tape complete the layout
Thank you for listening today and if you have any projects to share using the Midway collection we would love to see them.

All supplies for this layout can be found in the shop

Some new Crate!

My favourite manufacturer is Crate...and their new lines that have come out in the past few months have made me love them even more...

So when Vanessa got the new Sleigh Ride into the shop... I had to take some to use.

I had a photo that I had never used from last year...with my son and nephew watching Santa on the Norad website...following his progress around the world...in case you didn't know about it...you can find the website here.... it tracks Santa in real time...which they loved. I snapped this photo on my phone so the quality of the photo is not great so I turned it to black and white which helped.

This page actually makes me sad...as last year was the last 'Father Christmas' year as my son had a revelation a few months ago...so I even more pleased that I managed to get this snap shot.

and some details shots...

You cannot see it in the photos here but I sewed the circles into a banner with some white thread.

I used these thickers...

and these Mini Market letters...

Both of which match this line perfectly!

I also picked up this set of stickers....
I fell in love with the little tab stickers....perfect and there are also some blank ones to use.

I added some little gems and some craft stars...added some splatters and it was done!

Thanks for popping in!

My Mind's Eye The Sweetest Thing

Hi everyone! It's Amanda here today to share with you a layout I created with the super-fun and happy "The Sweetest Thing" collection from My Mind's Eye.

I used papers, chipboard, stickers and brads from the "Honey" colour-way. I love the vibrant, happy colours and the generic yet trendy patterns and embellishments. You really could use this for any occasion!

I'm a big fan of collections like this that take the hard work out of designing pages. Everything works together so beautifully and comes together in no time at all!

And a big thank you to everyone who took part in our giveaway - the lucky winner of the American Crafts Amy Tangerine collection pack, as chosen as random by random.org is...

Mrs Bookworm aka Nat!!  Congratulations - drop us an email with your address and we'll get your prize out to you :)

A little giveaway....

There have been so many things being uploaded in the last few weeks...so many beautiful things and so many cool things.

One of the new lines was the new Amy Tangerine...I bought some home some time ago..I couldn't resist it...and I managed to persuade Vanessa to let me take some from the box before she had even opened it!!! lol. It is that nice!

I made a small quick card with it...

This is really good idea if you need to make something fast!

The hearts make it look really detailed...make sure you pull the edges of them up to add some dimension to the card...If you don't want them to be flattened in the post add some small pop dots underneath. The circles at the bottom are from the die cut packet.

I wanted to do more with what I had...but my son knocked water all over my desk at that point....and ruined all the papers that I had put out to use...all you ladies that have children may have had this happen??? this is the second time!!!!! groan!!!!

Anyway...we have a giveaway today...we are giving away this...

a collection pack with all the ready set go papers inside.

All you have to do is comment on this post..you have until  sunday the 18th November....to do that! Happy commenting!

Fun with masks and stencils

Have you seen the great range of masks on offer in the shop?

There are loads of different brands with some totally fantastic shapes...but, what can you do with them...

Here are a few of the masks I've bought over the last year (or so!)

So, what to do with them?

use them with texture paste:-

if you do use texture paste - ensure you wash your stencil as dried paste doesn't remove very well and if you use a fine detailed stencil/mask you risk the chance of damaging it removing hardened paste.

use them with paint:-

or spray inks:-

add water to sprayed pages

or what about those distress inks

put them all together and create this:-

Thanks for looking and enjoy playing with your masks...Carol

Kit layout and a winner!

November's kit is full of bold, bright colours - just up my street, so I was looking forward to having a play with it!  Today I'm going to share with you the first layout I created.

I'm a great believer in getting the most out of materials, so both the natural cardstock, and the Crate Paper Stitch paper have been gutted - this gives me extra pieces to play with!  (In fact the yellow checked paper is the centre of a whole piece in itself, as I knew I wanted to use the reverse side as a base to another layout!)  The middle section of the Crate Paper was used to create the punched edge down the right hand side and the centre of the cardstock provided a mat for the photo.

You can also see how I used two strips of the burlap pattern, rather than a whole piece - again this gives me plenty left over for another project!

The butterflies were punched from some of the co-ordinating cardstock pack that we have available, and to make them more delicate I punched an edge with this punch from the October Afternoon paper and used little sections to create inner wings!  I added a small amount of thread from my own stash to finish them off.

November's kit is here - we hope to have some more available soon!

And, onto the winner of our little giveaway - my husband chose a number at random, and that was number 3!  So congratulations to Penny - email me your address at vanessa@papermaze.co.uk and we can get your prize out to you!
