I fussy cut lots of the leaves on the patterned papers, layered up the journaling cards behind the photo and cut a wavy section as a base to hold everything.

FUN WITH STENCILS
Hi, its Carol with you today and we are going to have "fun with stencils". This is going to be a 2 part post - we will make one tag and one card on each post - so I hope that your going to enjoy the posts!
So, for this post we are going to use the following:-
Size 8 tag - either cut with the Tim Holtz Alterations die or one fresh out of the packet!!
Distress Inks
Acryllic paints
Stencils - for this tag I've used Blazonary, a small circle stencil,
Washi tape
Film strip embellishment by Ranger
Bling
Simple Stories 24/seven layered stickers...
so, to start...
Take your tag and colour using acryllic paints.
Then take the blazonary stencil and stencil with a dark colour, dry, then move the stencil off shape and add a lighter colour on top - the tag should look like this:-
This is called the bumping technique and was initially shown by Lynne Perella - great technique. Then using an old credit card I added some painted lines, and by using a small circle stencil added further stencilling with burgundy paint.
Washi tape was added for texture...then I added a piece of film strip embellishment and some of the three D stickers from Simple Stories 24/7. To finish the edges were inked with distress ink.
et voila:-
I've added some bling to the embellishments......
Some of the stencils have such great shapes within the stencil - by masking off some of the stencil, using cut and dry foam with distress inks you can create quick, simple but classy cards:-
The stencil used here was mini garden gate by the crafters workshop...
See you soon

which is a really bright and happy range and really is perfect for those summer layouts
I chose a sketch from Page Drafts which used 3 pictures and I used 2 small and 1 larger pic
and this is my version
Along
with the papers this month, I got Orange twine, (there are so many yummy colours to choose from in the shop) that I curled into a
heart shaped frame for the main picture and looped the remainder to the
right where i added some of the alpha stickers from the 12 x 12 alpha
sheet.
Some chipboard stars that I painted with a thin coat of Gesso
The little tabs (orange and blue) are from the Smash range and ideal for tucking in here and there.
I also added from my stash some journaling circles by Jenni Bowlin
If you would like to share any projects using this line or the sketch please feel free to share your link in the comments box
We love to see your creations

New Products Updates
Just lately in the Papermaze shop, we have had new products flooding in, and it s not easy to always keep up with the latest products available to buy. So here is a quick selection of some of the very latest products we have for you to buy...
These beautiful papers and embellishments are all in soft, muted tones with neutral images. The coordinating pieces include 6"x 6" paper pad, Die-Cuts, Label Stickers & Journal Cards.
Do you love twine? Well you will adore these packs of 6 small reels of different coloured bakers twine, each reel measuring 2.5". There are three different coloured packs to choose from too!
Yep, we've added over 20 new masks to our already huge collection! These are all 6" x 6" and totally washable. All are reversible with the exception of those with text on them.
This very popular Chipboard now has had a new release and we have lots in store! The designs are intricate and can be painted, stained, embossed...the possibilities are endless!
Echo Park is hugely popular and we now have 5 of their newest collections in plus some Photo Freedom Packs too!
Some of the paper collections also have coordinating brads, chipboard stickers and washi tapes available.
Already featured on this blog was the 'Vintage Bliss' Collection, but have you also seen 'Urban Traveller' or '24/Seven'?

May Cropping
It's that time of the month when we're getting ready for our crop - and yes, it's a week earlier than normal again! We still have some spaces, so do get in touch if you would like to come along :)
I've been playing with distress inks and paints for this month's kit...
The flowers are all handmade so prepare for some messy fingers!! Next month we return to the 3rd Saturday of the month :)

Simple Stories 'Vintage Bliss'
Oh My Goodness! Have you seen the new lines in store from Simple Stories? At Papermaze we have four new releases for sale, my favourite being the 'Vintage Bliss' Line.
This girly, bright, stylish collection is perfect for this beautiful spring/summer weather we are having, so I have teamed it up with a photo of my little lady wearing her sunglasses and relaxing on the grass!
There are so many elements in these papers that can be fussy cut out, and they are perfect for layering up.
Take a look over at the website at all the new Simple Stories Collections...there's something to suit every style :-)

Scrapbooking Workshop for May
On Wednesday 8th May from 10am we shall be holding our monthly Scrapbooking workshop at our shop here in Otley.
Crafters of all abilities are welcome, refreshments are provided and anyone attending the workshop also benefits from a 10% discount in the shop on the day too!
Here is a sneak of the layout we shall be doing, using a new Crate Paper line...
We shall be concentrating on building up layers and clustering elements. These are two techniques which many of us find look lovely, but at the same time daunting to try, so I shall be showing you how easy it can be using a few simple rules.
All you will need to bring is a 6x4" photo and your basic crafting tools such as scissors and adhesives. Classes usually run for around 2hours, but if you are a slow scrapper, I stay until you have finished, or you can take your materials and instructions home with you to finish.
The class kit includes everything besides the photo and title stickers you will need to make the layout, instructions and all tools, inks, paints etc are available to share.
For booking enquiries, please email enquiries@papermaze.co.uk
We hope to see some new faces coming along soon :-)
