Experimenting for the page...

So you may know that Art Journaling is based around trying out new techniques and simply having fun experiments on pages. But what if you used snippets of your experimentation on a layout? On this page below, I have played with different Tim Holtz Distress Inks, Paints & Stains on some Kraft tags, then laid them out as a background. It was great fun exploring the different properties of each, reacting with water, resisting each other and blending together. I stuck to the same 3-4 colours on each tag so that they still coordinated on the layout, but each one looks completely different, some subtle, some bold.

And here are a few snaps of the fun I was having playing :-)

Moving out with Pink Paislee

This month I got some of the pretty Hello Sunshine collection by Pink Paislee to play with and because my youngest is moving out this week I decided to make a little gift for her and her boyfriend to celebrate moving into their first home together.

I used a silhouette cut file of some houses in a row but instead of cutting it I used the sketch pen feature to give the effect of a stamp. I then cut it out of patterned paper and used some of the tree pieces to give it a little touch of colour.

The little crate with the milk cartons was also a cut file that I decorated with the papers from the Hello Sunshine collection. I added some bling and the Jillibean Soup alphas that I was also sent.
I filled the boxes with a keyring each all ready for their new keys!

I used some twine to tie up the boxes and it looks really cute. I hope they like their gift.
I hope you enjoy my project and you can find all the supplies for this over in the shop

JOFY plate 12

The simplest looking cards often take the longest time.

Today I have created a "one layer" card…using the JOFY 12 plate, available here..

I wanted to create the illusion of a frame around my card so I masked off the edges using post-it notes.  I then stamped the large three headed image from the JOFY plate directly onto the card, stamping it again onto a masking sheet.  Then the painstaking bit, cut out the mask carefully, the more definition you get on the mask the clearer your image.  I then placed the mask over the stamped image on the card.  Using Tumbled glass distress ink and the lovely new round distress ink tools, I added colour to the background…adding broken china around the edges to add some depth.  using a large text stamp I text the background with broken china - I then removed the mask and posits - Wish was then stamped with versafine ink.
