Colorful - Simple Stories - Simple Vintage Country Harvest Collection

Hi everyone, Rebecca back with you today sharing my second layout using the beautiful Simple Vintage Country Harvest collection from Simple Stories. I think this is one of my favourite Simple Stories collections - the colours and patterns are gorgeous and perfect for my (many!) pumpkin patch photos. You can find the collection in the shop here.

For this layout, I've gone with a grid design using four of the patterned papers. I've used the Give Thanks (B side)4x6 Elements (B side), Autumn Glory (B side), and Happy Harvest (A side) papers and have cut them into 4x4 inch squares. After distressing the edges, I arranged them in the centre of a sheet of Premium White Cardstock, leaving a slight gap in between them. I've used two landscape photos on this layout - which is something I don't do too often. If I'm using two portrait photos on a layout I like to overlap them slightly, but I'm never happy with the way this looks with landscape photos, so instead I've arranged them in a film strip fashion. I backed them with white cardstock to give them some separation from the grid and added two layers of coloured cardstock from the Simple Stories Basics Kit behind them. I offset the photos slightly to the left of the page and at an angle.

I added one of the Chipboard Clusters behind the photos as I loved the green doily and thought the colour worked really well with my photos. I added another chipboard piece on top, over lapping the photos slightly to introduce some dimension to the page.

Knowing that I wanted to use one of the Foam Stickers for my title, I got that in place before moving on to embellishing the page as they are quite large so wanted to make sure I had space for it! I selected the word 'Colorful' as I thought it worked really well with my photos and the colour scheme of the page. I placed it underneath my photo, offset to the right to help balance the page.

I then moved on to the fun part of embellishing the layout with smaller elements. I have really enjoyed embellishing layouts with this collection as there is so much to choose from! I used a few of the foam sticker pumpkins on the bottom left quadrant of my grid, layering them up to achieve some dimension.

I then moved on to the top right quadrant. I cut a phrase from the 3x4 Elements paper which says 'Pumpkin Kisses and Harvest Wishes' and arranged it in strips, staggering them slightly for more interest. I also added a crate of pumpkins which I fussy cut from the 4x4 Elements paper. I raised all of these elements up onto foam.

I used a couple of the pumpkin stickers from the Combo Stickers sheet to embellish the bottom right quadrant, above my title, with a banner sticker which reads 'Pumpkin Everything'.

I felt like I needed something above my photos to embellish the top left quadrant of the grid. I selected a die cut from the Bits & Pieces pack along with a tag and slotted them behind my photos. I threaded some embroidery floss through the hole in the tag to bring a bit more texture to the page.

I finished the layout with a couple of die cut hearts from the Bits and Pieces pack in coordinating colours, and raised these up on foam pads.

This layout came together really quickly and I really do credit this collection for that! I love the way that everything matches - the colours, patterns, bits and pieces etc. I sometimes find that collections can have a few 'random' elements such as pineapples and unicorns, but this collection has none of that and everything works perfectly together, which makes it a real joy to create with.

If you'd like to watch this layout come together, I have a video up on my YouTube channel which you can watch here.

Thanks so much for reading. I hope you've enjoyed this layout and what I've done with this beautiful collection.

And now on to December... wow! How on earth is it almost December already?!

Take care,

Rebecca x
