April Papermaze Kit - Part 3

Lynn here today, for my third pair of layouts using the super April Papermaze kit. This proved a challenge for me in using a brighter than usual cardstock.

Do you often find you want to use both sides of one sheet of patterned paper? This was the case several time this month. I think I successfully managed to do this with both of today's layouts.

Before we start making the layouts, here are the kit details again:

Patterned Papers:
Pink Paislee - Paige Evans - Whimsical #18
Vicki Boutin - Field Notes - Simple Things
Photo Play - Wild Love - Thief of Hearts
Echo Park - I Love Crafting - Inspiring Words
Kaisercraft - Blessed - Beaming and Gratitude
Bazzill Cardstock - Bazzill White and Tropical

Reverse side of papers
Embellishments
2 doilies, 2 wooden hearts, 4 pegs, strip of pearls, mini washi tape, 50cm twine, 2 concertina flowers, 5 small flowers, 30cm scallop ribbon, 1 heart charm, exclusive Papermaze chipboard words and hearts.

Extra Bazzill
Extra Bazzill Cardstock Pack: Admiral, Bazzill Orange, Fussy and Rain.

DomestiCATed

This first layout shows our kitten who has taken to sleeping in what appears to be the most uncomfortable place she can find - a metal bucket - with or without the mop inside it! In fact she has just trotted across the keyboard as I am trying to type this blog post!!

For this layout I chose to use up scraps of papers from some of the earlier pages. I used the Rain Bazzill as the background. I cut squares of patterned paper 2" x 2", inked the edges with Work Lipstick and Broken China Distress Inks and arranged them on the cardstock in a diamond patchwork pattern.

I used the second doily from the kit to place to the bottom left of where the photo will go. I mounted the photo onto white card and stuck into place.

Using a scrap of Bazzill White and Pussy cardstock, I made two small journalling cards, which I held together with one of the pegs from the kit. I attcached this to the bottom left of the photo overlapping the doily.

My title was cut from scraps of the same two cardstocks as above, and the Sizzix Bigz Block Tall Alpha die, and the Thinlits Cut Out Script die set.

The cat is now asleep stretched across the book I keep all my notes in for this blog!

So Much Fun...

This last layout for April shows a photograph of my sister's family all together in the marquee at my mother's 80th birthday party a few years ago.

The first step was all the layering, to make the most of the card I had left and also to be able to use both sides of the Kaisercraft and Pink Paislee papers. Cut papers as follows, and mount onto one another in the order listed.

Gut the Bazzill Orange paper leaving a 12" x 12" piece 1" border.
Trim Gratitude paper (gingham side up) to 11.75 x 11.75 and gut to leave a 1" border.
Cut Bazzill White to measure 10.25" x 10.25" (gut to 1" - optional - not needed if you prefer to leave it whole). This was an extra sheet to the kit.
With the remainder of the Bazzill Orange cut to measure 9.75" x 9.75".

Inking of the edges on this layout was done with Black Soot Distress Ink.

Using a Tim Holtz Layering Stencil (Harlequin) I inked through with Picket Fence Distress Ink, randomly over the Bazzill Orange cardstock.

Next I used the sheet of Whimsical 18 paper, selecting and cutting out the words I wanted to add to the layout. Then from the reverse (butterfly) side, I cut a fine mount for my photo. I ran a strip of ribbon, from the kit along the base of the photo.

With scraps from the Bazzill white cardstock, I created two tags for journalling, I added twine from the kit to make ties. The tags were tucked into place under the left side of my photo.

I did a lot of floral, fussy cutting using the other side of the Gratitude paper - left over from the gingham border. When I had enough flowers, I inked and shaped them before sticking them in place to the bottom right of the layout. Some of these flowers were raised with 3D foam pads. From the scraps of this paper I punched fern leaves, which I inked and placed among the flowers. I used a smaller flower and two leaves in the top left corner of the page.

Finally I used the orange, self-adhesive, flat-backed pearls in three groups of three on the page.

So that's all for the April Kit. I will be back with the May kit soon.
Thanks for looking
Lynn x
