Claire here, and today I'm sharing with you a layout I've made with the Heidi Swapp Art Walk collection.
The papers in this collection are very vibrant and colourful and instantly make me feel happy. What struck me most about them is their versatility. There are some beachy / tropical style papers in the collection as well as some more 'arty' designs which are perfect for those who love a mixed media look - without any mess!
You can view the Art Walk collection in the shop here.
I was immediately taken with this striking Water Walk paper - full of greens, blues and yellows, and knew exactly which photo I wanted to scrap.
I absolutely love street art and quite often can be found taking pictures in front of some of these stunning works. This particular photo was taken while we were wandering around Barcelona, waiting for the shops to open for Sunday trading.
To make the page, I cut four 2" x 9.5" strips of the paper and arranged them so the patten was out of order. I pulled some alphabet dies from my stash and cut out the words for my title on each strip. You could achieve the same effect using stamps and white ink, thickers, an electronic die cutting machine or handwriting and cutting the letters yourself.
I backed each strip with white card and then stuck them down on sticky pads, positioning them centrally and leaving a large white border of smooth white cardstock around the outside.
Next, I added a bit more definition by gently sweeping the outside border and the third strip of paper with Black Soot Distress Oxide ink through a Creative Expressions mini stencil, perfect for use in small spaces and around borders.
To tie in the black ink, I decided to trim down the white cardstock to 11.5" and mount it on black premium cardstock which really made a big difference. I also used it to back my photo.
I cut a few strips of the Tropics paper and used the B side to write my journaling before positioning it centrally at the bottom of the page. I tore a thin strip to position behind the top of my photo and cut a tab shape to add to the top right so I could add the place and date. I also hand drew an arrow which points to the 'My' part of the title and outlined it with black pen.
Underneath the photo, I added one of the cardstock stickers saying 'No time for nonsense' - surely a saying every superhero needs! This was mounted in black to tie in with the photo.
To finish the page off I added a puffy heart and punched a few stars from the Water Walk paper and added a few black Nuvo Crystal Drops.
I really like how this layout turned out. The paper is so impactful - it does all the hard work for you.
I'm definitely looking forward to making more with this collection and will be back to share another layout soon.
Until then, take care and stay safe.
Claire
