Day five!!!!

Morning all!!!

Well i tried all day yesterday to get my computer working and could not and i dont have access to the page or the sketch that i put together for todays post.

But i have to show you Ang's page that she did, because it is beautiful, dont you agree?

I love how she split the photo in half to make it into a double page!!!

and her beautiful journaling spot!!!

I want to thank Ang for her help this week and for her beautiful pages that she did for us.

The competition this week is going to be using the 4 sketches that have been in this weeks post. Use the sketches to make a page. The more you do the more times you will be entered into the pot. Does that make sense?

Anyway send your pages to me at wendy@bbbweb.com by 12th November. I will have a picture of the prize ( it was on my computer) so i will get another picture and post it here for you.

THanks for stopping by this week.

Sketch week - day 4

So welcome to another sketch day.

First i have to apologise. Yesterday morning just after i put the day three sketch post up, my computer made a big bang and then nothing. My computer offically died, What does this mean, well 2m sketch will have just one page to go with it as the page for it was on my computer and there are no close ups of Ang's page today. Anyway.....

The sketch today is provided by our own design team member Angie.
"My name is Angie and I've been scrapping for 2 1/2 years.
The main reason I scrap is my two gorgeous children.... I hope in years to come my pages will give them a little insight and reminder of their childhoods, and also the things I thought and felt.
I also scrap as a creative outlet. I've always this artistic side, but until I found scrapbooking I had never found a suitable way of venting it.
I am currently on the design team here for the Papermaze blog; and also for the Scrapbook Magazine.
I have been on a couple of other design teams too, but now feel I need more time for my own scrapping."

Here is the sketch that she sent us to use...
Here is my take on this sketch...

THis sketch was wayyyyyyyyy out of my comfort zone and i mean really way out, so this one was the hardest sketch for me to do this week. The papers that we picked for this sketch was the Daisy Bucket Playful Petals line, which are sooooo pretty!!!!

Here is Ang's take on the sketch...
Dont forget to come back for the last sketch of the week tomorrow!!!

Day three sketches...

Morning!!! Let me introduce you to Karen ( works at Papermaze ), who kindly sent me the third sketch for this week.

I discovered Scrapbooking, after a friend gave my girls a kit for Christmas..and I had to sit on my hands to stop myself "helping". Scrapbooking really appealed to me in a big way and it wasn't long before my friend and I signed up for our 1st crop with Vanessa! That was Feb 2006..and as so many people say, I haven't looked back since!
Having worked as an Occupational Therapist for the NHS for 20 years, I decided enough was enough, and was over the moon when I started work at Papermaze in Dec 2006. I work 3 days a week, and love it! It can be so busy at times, and there doesn't seem to be enough hours in the day, but I wouldn't change it for the world! The thing I love about working here ( amongst other things!) is that nothing stands still for long, as soon as you get to know what everything is called and where to find it, more boxes arrive and you start all over again!

This line of paper and card was chosen by Ang. She chose the line Sunshine Lollipop by Sassafras Lass.
Here is the sketch...

Ang decided to turn the sketch on its side for her page...

Here is Ang's take on the sketch

So I took the Sketch and rotated left. I added a circle as I wanted a central focus as the papers and photo are quite busy.
Used materials provided, just added AC Apha's

So when i sat down to make the page to go with the sketch, the first thing i did was rotate the sketch to the left. I added a circle to the sketch as i wanted to make a central focus for all the papers and the photos as they are quite busy.

I used some American Crafts thickers for the title for this page.

Here is my take on the sketch...

I was determined to do something out of the box with this one, and try and do something different. As i normally use several small photos, i changed the 4 photos to one big one, something i never do.

I kept the border line of pattern paper down the left handside, but i change where the title and the journaling went.

Pattern Paper - Sunshine lollypop by Sassafras Lass.
Cardstock - Bazzill
White flower rub on - American Crafts
Black lettering - Jenni Bowlin
Blue ghost letters - Heidi Swapp

Come back 2m to see the next sketch.

Sketch week - day 2

Todays sketch was given to us by Vanessa.
Here is the sketch that she gave me to use...
For this sketch we both used the Making Memories line Noteworthy.
Here is my take on the sketch...

I tried to keep to the sketch as much as possible, but decided to make the background something other than a piece of 12 by 12 card so used the Jenni Bowlin shape pattern paper. I didnt couldnt get on with the wonky photo so i straightened mine.

Once i had nearly finished i realised that i was going to struggle to fit my title in so i added a big flower down the lefthand side and created my title in a circle.

Here is Ang's beautiful take on the sketch...

I love how Ang changed the photos around on this sketch. She had a lot of journaling to put onto this page so she altered the sketch to fit around her idea of how she wanted the page to be.

Thanks for stopping by today, and i will see you 2m for another sketch.

Day one - sketches.

Welcome to another week with me on the blog. At the beginning of me doing these weeks, I did a card sketch week, so I thought it was about time I did a scrapbooking sketch week.

This week I want you to welcome to the Papermaze blog a guest designer. Angela was kind enough to take on the challenge of doing 5 pages using the 5 sketches. ( Brave girl ) And I am sure you will agree they are gorgeous!

The aim of this weeks post is to show you how the same sketch and the same papers and embellishments can look so completely different.

When using a sketch you dont have to use all of it. Sometimes i use just the photo placement or sometimes it is just the placement of the pattern paper. Every body has different styles and adapting a sketch to suit your pages is vital, and something that took me ages to figure out.

Our sketch today is bought to you by the beautiful Zarah. You have to check out her sketch blog, she does the most amazing sketches, and even the sketches are eye candy on their own.

Let me introduce you to Zarah.....

"Hi! I'm Zarah - a 29 year old with too many ideas for one person, and too little time to see them all into life... so I sketch. Then, when some friends of mine kept asking me for sketches, I decided to put them on a blog. That sort of expanded and - here we are! I am having a lot f fun - hope you are too."

Zarah sent us this sketch to use for our sketch week...

For this sketch i chose the new line from Pink Paislee, called Pop Fashion for Ang and i to use.

The first take on this sketch is by me. Now there is one thing that i cannot do on my pages is slant things. Seriously i cannot do it, it just looks wrong. So for the photo part of the sketch i just kept to the three photo idea but kept them straight. I kept the layout of the pattern paper, as that was all layered and that is how i tend to do my pages. The other thing i didnt keep in the same place was the journaling, as i like mine to be under the title.

The frame around the photo at the top and the bottom is one of the stamps from this set from Basic Grey.

Okay here is Ang's take on the sketch.....

When i saw the paper i immediately thought 'grungy girl' so i knew the exact photo i wasted to use for the sketch and the papers.

As an add on to the pattern paper i added some green frames to put around the photos and then cut out an arrow cut out from card to make them stand out. The Making Memories journaling sheets matched the paper perfectly so i added that to the page. THen some doodling and a title cut out from the Cricut machine and the page was done.

Dont forget to pop back 2m and see the next sketch.

Online classes....

So i know a few people have been waiting for the classes that we do in the shop to come online. I know this has been a long time coming and we have been waiting for a few bits to come in to put them together. Over the next week we are hoping to have these up on the website for you to buy.

But for now if you are interested in any of the classes, can you email me at wendy@bbbweb.com and let me know which one you are interested in buying.

Obviously some of these classes are technique classes, ie the cuttlebug workshop which involves using the cuttlebug and the transparency class which i am teaching with a certain stamps. When buying the transparency class would you guys prefer to just have the transparency to stamp yourself or do you want it to be stamped for you and then just put the page together? The cuttlebug class, do you want the squares run through the cuttlebug or would you prefer the paper come and you run it though yourself.

Do you want instructions sent to you on paper with the workshop or would you prefer it to be sent by email.

Do you want the titles that are cut out on the workshop project or would you rather just have the card sent so you can make your own lettering. THis and many other questions!!! lol.

Feed back from you guys would be great so we can make these kits work well and work for you which is the most important thing .

Also any ideas that you would like to see a workshop for and would love to buy let me know.

Send all your ideas to me at wendy@bbbweb.com.

My week long blog posts are due up in monday. I have a guest designer working with me this week as well, so i hope you will pop back!

This is one of those posts

that is just full of eyecandy!!! lol.

I am just popping in to show you some of the new products that have come into Papermaze in the last few weeks. I know that you can not always tell what something looks like on the computer, so i went to Papermaze ( yep a hardship i know) to take some photos of what some of it looks like in real life.

First off i must show you my favourite part of the Papermaze shop. This is the thickers wall. Seriously there are a ton more in boxes and it goes further along than i have managed to get a picture off.

sigh it is like heaven huh!!!!!

Okay onto new product...

First off let me show you one of the New Crate paper lines that arrived at the shop last week. There are three lines and i have to say i couldnt even tell you which one is my favourite as i love all of them.. You can see the new lines here.

Here are the papers from the Lemon Grass line...

The colours on this are gorgeous, seriously gorgeous. The paper is fairly thick and it is textured as well.

To match the line of paper there are various dies cute and strip stickers...

the stickers have glitter on them and they are really striking!!!

There are also some epoxy stickers for each line.. These are the stickers from the Mia collection...

what i like most about these epoxy stickers is they are not specific to the line, there are plenty of stickers on there that you can use on other pages not just with Crate paper.

Here are the dies cuts from the Mia collection...
and my favourite has to be this one... gorgeous!

Here is a page i did using the Lemon grass line...
As you can see it is suitable for boy or girl orientated pages...

The new winter collections are coming in quick and fast here are Papermaze... the newest to come though the door is the Bo Bunny collection... the colours on this are gorgeous..

Also in the next day or two Vanessa is going to upload some of these beautys!!!!

Sigh!!!!! i dont think Prima has made any flowers that i dont like, these ones are so romantic!!!!

Do you fancy making an advent calender???

Well on the 29th November we are holding a all day saturday class at the shop. The topic is advent calenders. I have put together one using the new Making Memories Fa La LA LA line.

here are some sneek pictures of the actual calenders.
The front cover..

The inside...

And because i always have to do just that little something extra i have put together a box to put the tags in when you take them out!!!

If you fancy popping down to make it with us, just click here to book your place.

A little bit of bling!

I was really surprised this month when I found in my DT kit not only some gorgeous Pink Paislee papers, but also some absolutely fabulous bling swirls! I'm not normally one to use much sparkly stuff on my layouts, but I rose to the challenge and started looking through my photos for something suitable to scrap.

I decided to go for some photos I took earlier this year at my boyfriend's birthday night out. While I know there is a lot of pink in the papers, I don't feel you should only be restricted to girlie subjects when you use this colour, and the bluer tones in the papers made for a perfect match with one of our friends T-shirts!

I layered up some of the papers along with some fuschia pink cardstock - I used decorative scissors to cut scallop edges on some of these to add interest. I wanted the layout to be quite grungy so I used lots of distress ink in two shades of pink and also black to colour the edges of the different layers. I then positioned my photos - this subject was fun and light-hearted, so I offset the photos a little rather than lining them up straight.

Then came the fun bit - embellishment! I peeled the bling swirls off their backing sheet and carefully adhered them in the position I wanted. This can be quite tricky as the swirls are very sticky, but as they come on a transparent backing sheet it is quite easy to work out the position you want them in first before peeling them off.

I then added my title using a combination of Autumn Leaves Freestyle stamped letters, Pink Paislee alphas and some Making Memories tiny alphas. The arrows are grungeboard - I left these untouched apart from a thin black outline and pink brad - and I mounted them using foam squares. I thought they looked a little like clock hands, so I stamped a clock on a transparency and added this too - I thought it fitted in well with the 'passing of time' theme of a birthday layout. The little heart was hand-drawn.

With my leftover supplies, I made a simple note card, using bling brads to add a touch of luxury to a simple flower.

Boy toys...

The other day i sat down to make a card an decided to do something a bit different, and i thought i would show you.

I have had this felt sitting on my desk for a while and was not sure what to do with it, so i challenged myself to use it.

I decided to make it the main focus of the card. First off i cut it out to use it as just the background, but then i came upon the idea of using it as a pocket.

Now the most sensible thing to do would be to cut the felt out in one long strip, which i would have done if i had, had this idea before cutting up the felt lol!!!!! So for my card i had to stick the two felt parts together.

I then used this paper...

I cut out a few of the little airplanes and the cars. I double backed them, so the same image is on the front and the back.. I then attached them to some string.

Which i then attached to a tag, made out of kraft cardstock, which i added this paper onto it...

and the tag ends up looking like this...

I then inserted the tag into the felt pocket...

I then printed out my birthday message onto white card and added it to the front of the felt card... THis is the final card...

Just because i am one of those people that have to do just one more thing. I cut out a small car from the pattern paper and stuck it onto the front of the envelope.. ( this photo is awful i know, my spare camera i think has finally given up the ghost)

I hope you enjoyed this little card.
