Simple Stories Sunkissed - Lliber! by Meg

Hello everybody! It's Meg here today, sharing my latest layout using the beautiful summery Simple Stories Sunkissed collection.

I felt so inspired by the lovely beach icons - swimming costumes, flip flops, inflatables and deckchairs - and so I decided to start with family photos of the swimming pool on our (pre-Covid!) holiday to Spain.

I thought about using the layered tags I had created in my last blog but I just loved the blue spotty Fun + Sun paper and wanted to put a title on it. I wasn't sure if I would hand-stitch the letters on, use alphas or stamps, but it was a starting point!

I decided to cut out a rectangle of the Fun + Sun paper the same size as my main photo and create a pocket behind the photo from white cardstock so that I could tuck a tag (cut out from the Tags paper) in there with hidden journaling and extra photos.

Before adhering these, I used a brush and painted some blue acrylic roughly onto the page to echo the blue swimming pool, with some splatters too. I didn't take too much care with this as I thought the vivid colours of the Sunkissed ephemera would stand out and become the focal point. I must admit this was a little scary but I love the overall effect all together at the end!

I used double-sided adhesive foam and white photo corners to stick the photo to the pocket, arranged on the page centrally with the Fun + Sun paper and then created some clusters to decide if I was happy with it.

I fussy-cut some flower clusters from the Sunny Days paper, decided to hand-stitch a border onto the Fun + Sun paper and use dark blue alphas from my stash to create the 'Lliber' title. The top of the page seemed a little plain still so I hand-stitched some curvy swirls in white, which gave extra texture and detail while still remaining subtle and not competing with the bright colours.

I began adhering and finished the page with some coordinating Heart Sprinkles puffy stickers from Doodlebug, some white Nuvo Drops, flat back gems from my stash and tucked in my journaling tag and extra photos.

And there we have it!

I hope you enjoyed this one as much as I enjoyed creating it - the Chipboard pieces in this collection are my absolute favourite and I couldn't decide which ones to use!

Take care and have lots of fun in the sun, Meg x
