Heart Day with Tips & Tricks

Hi, Lisa here.
In case you missed it, last month I used the Crate Paper La La Love collection here in my Traveler's Notebook. You can see the post here.
Today I'm using the same collection to create this 12x12 page.

Don't let the Valentine's theme put you off. It's very versatile. And I also got the 6x8'' paper pad which I love using on 12x12 projects.
I have a few tips for you today.

The 6x8'' paper sits so nicely on a 12x12 background.
I love using white cardstock, so this suits me really well.
To add some extra texture I hand sewed a frame around the paper in a contrasting colour.

I love this little layered fringe look and it was so easy to create.
As the papers don't stretch to the 12'' width, I cut strips and pieced then together.
The blue strip with flowers first, then a wider strip with the red and pink flowers, but I only stuck the very top of the paper in place. Then over the join of these two papers I stuck the red hearts strip down.
As you can see here, to cover the join where the strips meet, I've cute a heart from another paper and stuck over the top to disguise.

See, you would never know that the papers weren't wide enough : )

Then to create the fringe, I cut in thin strips over the whole width of the paper.
I think it looks really cute.

It's also fun to create embellishments with your 6x8'' papers.
You can cut out images like I have done here, using the hearts.
I also created a faux bow.

I deconstructed it after I made it to show you better.

You need to cut 2 longer equal strips. You loop them each over securing the ends together with double sided sticky. So you now have 2 individual loops.
You then cut 2 equal shorter lengths.
Place the 2 loops together and stick in place, so one sits on the other.

Then add the shorter strips so it resembles a bow.
I like to use double sided sticky so I can reposition until I'm happy.
And then to cover the joins, I add an embellishment, like the heart here.

I'm really pleased with how this 12x12 turned out.

I hope you've enjoyed this page today.
Have a lovely weekend.
