‘Happy Day’ - using the Authentique Glamour collection

Hello, Rebecca here with my first layout as part of the team, using the beautiful Authentique Glamour collection.

These papers are stunning and I couldn’t decide which one to use first - so I decided to use several!

I wanted to use hexagons for this and seeing as I don’t have a die cutting machine it took a little time to measure, draw and cut them all out by hand, but I love the finished look so it was worth it. This is the first photo we managed to capture of our son doing his ‘say cheese’ face and I wanted to use it for this layout as it matched my colour theme quite well.

I decided to use black cardstock for my background as I felt it really helped to make the blue in the papers ‘pop’. I plotted out where my hexagon pieces were going to sit and then added some Cosmic Shimmer chalk cloud blending ink (in Blue Lagoon) to the area so that it would show around the edges of the hexagons. I didn’t want the colour of the chalky ink to be too vibrant as I wanted the papers to stand out and be the main focus so I used a cotton wool ball to apply it. I also added some splatters using a Heidi Swapp colour shine in white and some distress oxide ink in Broken China (I mixed some ink with a little water on some packaging and then used a paintbrush to splatter).

I thought that my hexagons looked a little harsh against the background so I used my scissor blades to distress the edges. I matted my photo on some turquoise card and backed it with foam so that it sat away from the page on top of the hexagons.

I added some chipboard pieces which I had randomly cut from a sheet to continue with my hexagon theme and tied some twine through them. I found a pack of white paper flowers in my stash which I coloured using the same distress oxide (Broken China) and a Distress Ink in Antique Linen as I felt the colours went really well with the patterned papers. I then layered the flowers and finished them off with some jewelled brads.

I included a wooden banner in the top right corner and some word stickers from the Cocoa Vanilla Happiness collection which I had coloured using the antique linen distress ink. I finished the layout with a butterfly sticker (also from the Happiness collection), some Nuvo Drops, some pearl enamel dots and a wooden chipboard title.

Thanks for reading! I’ll be back later in the month with another layout but please do head over to the shop to have a look at the Authentique Glamour Collection as it really is beautiful.

Take care,

Rebecca xx
