August Papermaze Kit - Part 2

Hello, Lynn back today with more of the bright and colourful August kit. This kit contains an amazing rainbow of scrapbooking goodies.

Here are my second two layouts:

Before making the layouts here is a reminder of what you will find in the kit:

Patterned Papers:
Cocoa Vanilla Studio - Happiness collection - Botanical Bliss & Good Vibes
Jillibean Soup - Rainbow Roux collection - Bite Size Bits & Pinch of Colour
Kaisercraft - Morning Dew collection - Rejuvinate
Pink Paislee - Paige Evans Horizon collection - #3
Bazzill cardstock:
Rain & White

Reverse side of papers

Embellishments:
Set of chipboard frames, doily, Heidi Swapp glitter word, 3 chipboard banners, 3 Studio Calico wooden stars, strip of rainbow heart stickers, 2 acrylic hearts, pink acrylic butterfly, rainbow sticker.

A pack of matching extra Bazzill is also available and contains a sheet each of four colours:
Breaker Bay, Desert Sun, Piglet and Grenadine.

Beach Huts - These photos were taken on a road trip when we spent a few nights at Scarborough.

I took the gutted piece of Cocoa Vanilla - Good Vibes from the 'Happy' layout made in part 1.

The Rain Bazzill was cut to 28cm x 28cm an gutted to leave a frame of 2.5cm.

Then the sheet of Jillibean Soup - Rainbow Roux (yellow hearts side) was trimmed to 27.5cm x 27.5cm. All three were then layered upon each other.

I trimmed my photos and then made a mat for each with the remains of the Rain Bazzill.

From the Jillibean Soup Bite Size Bits paper, I cut a tag which I added the title with some letter stickers and journalling. I drew around the white letters with a fine marker pen. I punched a hole and threaded through some Baker's Twine.

I cut the rainbow strip from this sheet and added pieces from this to the layout. I added the acrylic hearts to these strips. Then I cut all the multi-coloured quotes and strung them along the top of the page to create bunting. I joined them with more Baker's Twine and some colourful brads from my stash.

Finally I cut a few more quotes from the Bite Size Bits paper and added them to the photos.

Florist - A photo I took a few years ago with permission of the florist for our scrapbook group 'The Blossoms'. The florist is Blossoms in Crayford High Street.

For the background of this layout I used the sheet of Cocoa Vanilla - Botanical Bliss. I gutted it to make a wide frame of 4cm. Then set aside the rest for later. The next layer was cut from the sheet of Kaisercraft Rejuvinate trimmed to 26.5cm x 26.5cm. This was also gutted, to make a frame of 2.5cm.

The centre of the layout is a piece of White Bazzill trimmed to 25cm x 25cm. I sprayed and dripped some Picked Raspberry Distress Stain to the Bazzill and used the same colour of Distress Ink around the edges.

From The kit I used the doily, wrong side up, to give a paler shade of pink. I tucked this under my photo and added the rainbow sticker to it. The title was added in line with the doily using Pink Fresh Studios Mini Puffy Alphabet.

I painted the chipboard banners with Distress Paint - Abandoned Coral, Cracked Pistachio and Picked Raspberry.  These were arranged across the top right corner with 3D foam pads and I joined them with Baker's Twine.

I fussy cut some blossoms from the remains of the Botanical Bliss paper. and arranged them around the bottom of the photo, some were glued to the page, others were attached with 3D foam pads.

I added tiny dots of Nuvo Crystal Drops - Liquid Mercury in and around the blossoms.

With some peach cherry blossoms from my stash I added a few among the blossoms and between the Banners.

Finally I added the tiny pink acrylic butterfly from the kit.

Thanks for looking, back soon with the September Kit.

August Papermaze Kit

Hello, Lynn here today with the bright and colourful August kit. This kit contains a rainbow of papers and embellishments.

Here are my first two layouts:

Before making the layouts here is what you will find in the kit:

Patterned Papers:
Cocoa Vanilla Studio - Happiness collection - Botanical Bliss & Good Vibes
Jillibean Soup - Rainbow Roux collection - Bite Size Bits & Pinch of Colour
Kaisercraft - Morning Dew collection - Rejuvinate
Pink Paislee - Paige Evans Horizon collection - #3 (featured by Karen C back in May)
Bazzill cardstock:
Rain & White
Reverse side of papers

Embellishments:
Set of chipboard frames, doily, Heidi Swapp glitter word, 3 chipboard banners, 3 Studio Calico wooden stars, strip of rainbow heart stickers, 2 acrylic hearts, pink acrylic butterfly, rainbow sticker.

A pack of matching extra Bazzill is also available and contains a sheet each of four colours:
Breaker Bay, Desert Sun, Piglet and Grenadine

First Summer At The Hollies is my first layout this month. It shows a selection of photos of the plants we grew in the garden during our first summer living in our new home.

I have seen many layouts created with this amazing paper (Pink Paislee - Paige Evans Horizon #3) over the last few months, including our own DT member Karen C.  So I was really pleased to see it included in this month's kit.

The first step was to do all the cutting - so with the sheet of Horizon #3 - I gutted the paper to leave a frame of 2.5cm, then from the remaining piece I gutted again to leave another smaller frame of 2.5cm. This left a square of approximately 20.5cm for the centre of the layout.

With the Breaker Bay Bazzill cardstock - I trimmed this to measure 28cm x 28cm, then I gutted it make a frame of 2.5cm. The remaining piece was then gutted to make another frame of 2.5cm.

I machine stitched around the edges of the two paper frames, the two Bazzill frames and the paper square with white thread. I then inked all the edges with Chipped Sapphire Distress Ink.

The layout was then built up, by layering the papers and card on top of one another.

I took nine small photos and after mounting them onto white card they each measured about 6cm x 6cm. These were arranged and stuck onto the page.

For my title I used some foam American Craft Thickers.

Happy - This layout shows a photo of my daughter on the Millennium Bridge, with her new umbrella on her birthday back in 2013.

For this layout I started by applying a coat of Gesso to a sheet of white cardstock. Once this was dry I used a blending tool and Distress Oxide Inks to apply horizontal bands of colour. I used Festive Berries, Spiced Marmalade, Mustard Seed, Mowed Lawn, Salty Ocean, Blueprint Sketch and Wilted Violet and I blended these colours where they met. I lightly sprayed some water and added a few drips too, then allowed the ink to run.
I flicked a little Black Marble Dylusions Ink onto the cardstock, and left it to dry.

Meanwhile I used my Cricut and the Edge to Edge 2 cartridge to cut the image 24cm x 24cm from the patterned paper -
Cocoa Vanilla Studio - Happiness - Good Vibes. I kept all the little petal shapes that are left over from this cut for use later. This was then stuck down onto the inked cardstock.

I cut three tags from the paper -
Jillibean Soup - Rainbow Roux collection - Bite Size Bits. I used one tag for my journalling and added some orange Baker's Twine through a small hole I punched into the top. The tags, the photos and the Heidi Swapp glitter word were arranged onto the page.

I used the petal shapes left over from the Cricut cut to make flowers, I used eight petals per flower and mounted them onto the other diamond shaped waste pieces. These were all inked with Distress Oxide inks, and mounted onto the layout with 3D foam pads. I punched some leaf fronds from the
Breaker Bay Bazzill left over from the first layout. For this I used a Martha Stewart Punch. I added a selection of flat-backed pearls and gems to the flower centres.

Finally I used the tiny rainbow heart stickers to scatter across the layout.

Thanks for looking, back soon with more from the August kit.

February Papermaze Kit - Part 2

Lynn here today, back with more from the Papermaze kit for February - a lovely collection compiled by Vanessa once again. Both my layouts are from two different, family weddings.

Before we start, here is a reminder of what is included in the kit:

The February Kit
Patterned Papers:
American Crafts - Vicki Boutin - Field Notes Collection - Take Flight
Studio Light - Ultimate Scrap Collection - SCRAPUS06
Authentique - Sea-Maiden Collection - Sea-Maiden Seven
Bo Bunny - Something Special Collection - Ritzy & Swell
Jillibean Soup - You Make MISO Happy Collection - Dashi

Bazzill cardstock: Peacock & Natural

Reverse side of patterned papers
Extra Bazzill Pack
Extra Bazzill cardstock Pack: African Daisy, Moody Blue, Aqua & Walnut.

Accessories: 3 paper flowers, 18" Prima lace, 12" net, 1 strip gems, 6 buttons, 1 Scrapiniec chipboard piece, 12" Little B washi tape, 1 stamp.

Gracious is my first layout for today, and features my nephew's bride being prepared for the wedding.

Using this kit has challenged me to use some strong coloured cardstock. My initial thought was to use this patterned paper with the Natural cardstock, but then I laid it out on the Peacock and was pleased with the combination.

First I took the Peacock cardstock and used the Tim Holtz Dot Fade Layering Stencil and some Vintage photo Distress Oxide Ink to work randomly across the page, in the areas where the patterned paper finishes. Then I dripped Antiqued Bronze Distress Paint onto the Bazzill too.
Using the sheet of paper from Studio Light - I tore this into several strips. Selecting pleasing areas from the patterns on both sides. The main section is 6" deep, then I tore pieces 1", 0.75"  and 2 at 0.5". This left a piece 3.25" for die cutting.

From the section measuring 3.25" I cut two incomplete doilies, using Sizzix Doily, Jewel Heart Thinlits set. I also cut a heart from this set. The left over scraps were used to punch leaves later on.

I used the stamp from the kit to do a little random stamping over these papers. On the 6" section I used a script stencil and some texture paste mixed with Distress Oxide Inks - Peacock Feathers and Vintage Photo. The stencil is from Crafter's Workshop and is called Art Is.I inked the edges of the papers and die cuts using the Distress Oxide Inks and arranged them on the layout as shown. The heart was raised up with 3D foam pads and I tied a bow through the top with some white organza ribbon. The doilies were tucked between the layers of papers. I inked the
Scrapiniec chipboard piece with the Oxides and arranged this over one of the die cut circles formed when cutting the doilies.

I added a selection of flowers from my stash and created leaves with a Martha Stewart punch using the scraps of patterned paper from this layout and the turquoise side of the Swell paper.

Then I decorated the leaves with some Stickles, and used some stickers from my stash - glittery hearts, word stickers, and a chipboard title. I used some flat-backed gems around the circle and doilies, and a larger gem in the centre of the
Scrapiniec chipboard piece. Finally I used some Nuvo Crystal drops scattered around the flowers.

Cherish is my second layout and shows me with my daughter's ready to leave for Emily's wedding.

This time I did use the Natural Bazzill, lots of Distress Oxide ink and stencils. Starting with the Tim Holtz Gothic Layering Stencil I used this like a stamp, I placed a mixture of Peacock Feathers, Cracked Pistachio, Mermaid Lagoon, Evergreen Bough and Mustard Seed Distress Oxide Ink on my palate. I sprayed a little water onto the ink and ran the stencil through it. Then I stamped the stencil onto the Bazzill. I repeated this three more times, so I had an area of colour top, bottom and both sided of the page. Then using the same colours I inked through the Burlap Layering Stencil. I used the stamp from the kit with some Jet Black Archival Ink to stamp randomly over the coloured areas.

I trimmed the net from the kit and ran it down the centre of the page, then mounted my photo onto a piece of Swell paper. The photo was added to the layout with some 3D foam pads.

I had some scraps of Sea Maiden paper which I inked and tucked under my photo. With more of the Sea Maiden paper I die cut swirls using two different dies from my collection. I arranged these around the photo and added the flowers from the kit together with some of my own. I made a small bow from some aqua organza ribbon and cut a few butterflies from left over Take Flight paper. I added the coloured gems from the kit plus a few clear ones from my stash.

My title was an old rub-on definition Making Memories I found in my stash. 'Cherish - to feel or show great love for someone'.

Thanks for looking, back with the March kit later in the month.

February Papermaze Kit

Lynn here today, with the new Papermaze kit for February - a lovely bright cheerful collection of papers and embellishments to brighten the winter.

Before we start, this is what you will find in the kit:

The February Kit
Patterned Papers:
American Crafts - Vicki Boutin - Field Notes Collection - Take Flight
Studio Light - Ultimate Scrap Collection - SCRAPUS06
Authentique - Sea-Maiden Collection - Sea-Maiden Seven
Bo Bunny - Something Special Collection - Ritzy & Swell
Jillibean Soup - You Make Me So Happy Collection - Dashi

Bazzill cardstock: Peacock & Natural

Reverse side of patterned papers
Extra Bazzill Pack
Extra Bazzill cardstock Pack: African Daisy, Moody Blue, Aqua & Walnut

Accessories: 3 paper flowers, 18" Prima lace, 12" net, 1 strip gems, 6 buttons, 1 Scrapiniec chipboard piece, 12" Little B washi tape, 1 stamp.

Twinkle and Oliver is the title of my first layout, with two photos from the day we took Oliver and his sisters to see the Owls at Jambs Owls, Hall Place.

I used a sketch map for inspiration for this layout and chose this one from Sketch Savvy.

The first job here was to take the Walnut Bazzill and gut it so I had a frame of about 1" all the way round. Then I cut another piece 9" x 7". keeping the rest to die cut stars, a tag and letters later.

Next I took the Aqua Bazzill and trimmed this to measure 11.5" x 11.5",
I then gutted a 6" x6" piece from the centre of this. Set aside the 12" x 1" piece to lay across the page later. The rest will be used for die cutting as with the Walnut.

The 11.5 x 11.5" piece of Aqua Bazzill was decorated with feathers. I used a set of 49 and Market Feather Stamps and some Potting Soil Archival Ink for this and stamped randomly over the card. I lightly coloured these using Distress Inks as watercolour paints - Wilted Violet, Mermaid Lagoon and Vintage Photo. This was mounted centrally over the Walnut Bazzill.

The 9" x 7" piece of Walnut Bazzill was mounted to the top and a piece of Sea Maiden 7 paper cut to 10" x 3" was used at the bottom. I used the wood grain side of this paper with the stripes running vertically.

I whipped some brown twine around the 12" x 1" piece of Aqua Bazzill and mounted this across the join between paper and card, using 3D foam pads.

I used some Tim Holtz Sizzix Thinlits - Tag Collection to cut three tags, one each from Walnut, Aqua and a scrap of White Bazzill. I have a set of nesting star dies and I cut some stars in Walnut and Aqua too. Then with the left over Bazzill I cut the letters for my title with an old QuicKutz die set.

I tied twine through the holes in the tags and tied them to the layout, I also raised them up on 3D foam pads. I wrote my journalling on the white tag. My photos were arranged on the Walnut Bazzill and the title was added above one photo and onto one tag. I found an owl charm, I had been saving for this layout, and added gems to his eyes.

The buttons from the kit were added with a little twine threaded through the holes and tied in knots and bows. Finally a little stickles was added to each feather.

Caligular is my second layout using a photo of me with our family cat in the 1960's.

With the Moody Blue Bazzill, I made a frame of 1" by gutting the centre from the sheet of cardstock.  Then I cut the paper Ritzy to 11" x 11" and mounted this over the Bazzill. The Dashi paper was cut to 9.5" x 9.5" and mounted in the centre of the Ritzy paper. Then I cut a band of 5 rows of butterflies from the bottom of the take flight paper. this was stuck across the middle of the page and trimmed with strips of Moody Blue Bazzill, which had been edged with a Martha Stewart border punch.

I mounted my photo onto a piece of Moody Blue Bazzill and this in turn was mounted onto a piece of Sea Maiden paper 8" x 2.75". When all this was lightly glued in place with the top and bottom not stuck down, I tucked in two pieces of Swell paper 2" x 2". I placed these pieces above and below the photo, one to the left and the other to the right. Then I added a little of the washi tape.

Next came some fussy cutting - 11 butterflies from the Take Flight paper, 10 of these were arranged in an arc over the top right of the page. I cut a 3.5" piece from the manufacturer's strip of the Take Flight paper and added this to the bottom right of the layout. Then I added the 11th butterfly to the end of this strip.

I wrote my journalling onto scraps of Swell paper and cut this into thin strips, sticking these to the right of my photo. My title was cut from more of the Moody Blue cardstock, using an old Sizzlet alphavet die set from my collection. Finally I added antennae to the butterflies with a market pen and tiny dots of Nuvo Crystal Drops.

Thanks for looking, I will be back in early March with more from this kit.

July Papermaze Kit - Part 2

Hello, Lynn back with more layouts from the July Papermaze Kit. I have created two more layouts, using the exclusive stencil included in the kit. The first two pages I created with this kit can be found here.

A quick reminder of the kit content including the extra cardstock
Kaisercraft - Wandering Ivy, Panelling & Blue Posy
Jillybean Soup – 2 Cool for School, Wild Child
Bo Bunny – Once Upon A Lifetime, Namesake
Simple Stories – Travel Notes, Adventure Awaits
Graphic 45 – Sun Kissed Collection, Sand Dollars
Bazzill Basics cardstock -
Splash, Hilary, Typhoon, White, Rain & Boogieboard.

Jillibean mini alpha, 12" Freckled Fawn washi tape, 2 Dusty Attic word circles, 1 wooden arrow, 4 paper flowers, 1 strip green jewels, 40cm ribbon, 7 Pretty Little Studio leaf die-cuts, 1 Freckled Fawn arrow clip, 1 exclusive chevron stencil.

The first page features a photo of my daughter and her fiancé George, on a recent holiday to Paris.

To make the layout I used the Splash Bazzill as a base, and then cut the Panelling paper into strips along the darker lines. I distressed the edges and inked them with Hickory Smoke Distress Ink. Then I rearranged them and stuck them to the cardstock.

Using the chevron stencil I lightly inked the pattern onto the panels with the Hickory Smoke ink.

I die cut stars and a tag from white Bazzill and inked the edges. The mat for the photo was cut from the Sand Dollars paper. A quote was added to the tag, this was cut from the manufacturer's strip on the bottom of the Wandering Ivy paper. I added some twine from my stash.

The chipboard word circle was inked with Candied Apple Distress Oxide Ink to match the twine. The title was cut from scraps of Typhoon cardstock (see below*). Both the circle and the title were coated with Diamond glaze to give it a shine.

The arrow clip was stuck to the top of the photo. Finally I added some gems from my stash.

The second layout was created with a photo of my brother with the books he has written and had published. The photo was taken in preparation for the next publication and the 'About the Author' page.

I trimmed the Rain cardstock down to 11.5" x 11.5" then with Stormy Sky Distress Ink and the stencil I worked my way round the edges of the cardstock, varying the depth of the image as I went.

This was then mounted onto a gutted sheet of Typhoon*cardstock. From the leftover patterned papers I cut lots of strips about 1.5cm x 13.5 cm, some of these were cut in to arrows, all were inked with the Stormy Sky ink. I then die cut additional arrows with the Little B arrow die set. Together with two strips of Washi Tape from the kit I arranged these down the centre of the page.

The photo was mounted onto a scrap of Boogieboard cardstock and placed it near the top left of the layout. My title was created with some letter stickers from my stash.

Finally I used the Pretty Little Studio leaf die-cuts to create clusters in two corners and added the wooden arrow too.

I will be back later in the month with some ideas for the August kit.
Thanks for looking.

July Papermaze Kit

Hi All, Lynn here with a pair of layouts I made using the July Papermaze Kit which goes on sale today.  Both my layouts will be part of my daughter's wedding album, as the papers were ideal for my photos.

This month's kit is packed with goodies as always - Six double-sided sheets of patterned paper:
Kaisercraft - Wandering Ivy, Panelling & Blue Posy
Jillybean Soup – 2 Cool for School, Wild Child
Bo Bunny – Once Upon A Lifetime, Namesake
Simple Stories – Travel Notes, Adventure Awaits
Graphic 45 – Sun Kissed Collection, Sand Dollars

Two sheets of Bazzill Basics - Splash & Hilary
There is an extra Bazzill Basics pack available containing four carefully matched sheets -  Typhoon, White, Rain & Boogieboard.

This photo shows the embellishments included in the kit - They are:
Jillibean mini alpha, 12" Freckled Fawn washi tape, 2 Dusty Attic word circles, 1 wooden arrow, 4 paper flowers, 1 strip green jewels, 40cm ribbon, 7 Pretty Little Studio leaf die-cuts, 1 Freckled Fawn arrow clip, 1 exclusive chevron stencil.
My first layout is called 'Autumn Bride'. I was pleased to see papers from Kaisercraft's Wandering Ivy in the kit as I had already used this for several of the layouts in the wedding album.

I inked the edges and dies cuts with Distress Inks - Old Paper and Peeled Paint.

To create this page I took the scrap sheet of 12" x 12" paper from my stash to 'build' my layout onto, as I needed to cut the paper up. I took the blue Posy paper and cut off two strips 10cm deep. These were stuck to the top and bottom of the base card. I cut a band of Travel Notes paper 13cm deep and trimmed the long edges with a Martha Stewart Punch Around the Page border punch.
The Travel Notes paper was used to mount the photo and to make some banner strips which were laid down before the photo. I found a couple of labels from clothing which I trimmed and tucked behind the photo, adding some narrow white ribbon from my stash.

Then I created two large clusters of flowers on either side of the photo, over the band of Travel Notes paper. I created two large and two small rosettes from the left over Blue Posy Paper and the Tim Holtz, Decorative Strip Sizzix Sizzlit die. The flowers were cut from scraps of Blue Posy, Travel Notes and some white card, using the Tim Holtz Thinlits Die Set - Funky Florals #3. This die set was also used to cut the fern leaves, using the Hilary Bazzill from the kit. Other embellishments from the kit added to these clusters were the green jewels and the paper flowers. I added more loops of blue ribbon from my own stash too.

For a title 'Bride' I used some Sizzix Sizzlits alphabet dies (Boxed Brush) and the Hilary Bazzill, this was given a shine with Glossy Accents. For the words 'Autumn', 'Emily' and '2017' I used the Jillybean Mini Alpha Stickers which are included in the kit.

My second layout for today is called 'With These Rings' and uses the professional photo of Emily and Jack's Wedding Rings.

This time I inked all my edges with Distress Inks - Peeled Paint and Stormy Sky.

I used another sheet of scrap 12" x 12" paper to make an unseen base for this layout, meaning I could cut up the papers and keep some for other pages and my die cutting etc.

The first stage was to cut an interesting part from the Namesake paper. I liked the detail on the left side and wanted to include this. I used another sheet of card to mark the position to cut (see photo below).

Then I stuck this to my base card (see photo below).

The next step is to trim two adjacent sides of the sheet of Boogieboard Bazzill, with another Martha Stewart Punch Around The Page punch set (see photo below).

Now cut this so you have just the trimmed edges and corner, this needs to be about 2cm deep and stick into place so it covers the edges of the patterned paper (see photo below).

Next place the white Bazzill close to the trimmed edge and stick into place, onces stick you can trim off the excess, so you end up with a 12" x 12" base for you layout (see photo below).

I cut a white card mount for my photo. Then using the reverse side of the Namesake paper scrap (spotty side), I cut a wider mat including the printed blue lace, which I positioned on the left of my photo (this was cut at 13.5cm x 16.5cm).

To embellish I cut some doilies, hearts and tags using some Crafter's Companion dies. I used scraps of Boogieboard and white Bazzill asn well as the leftovers of Namesake and Travel Notes papers.  Once they were all in position I added a sprinkling of tiny flowers from the border punch waste.

Jute twine was added to the tags. Then a selection of small paper flowers from my stash were clustered around the tags and in the bottom right of the photo. I added a few fronds punched from scraps of patterned papers with a Martha Stewart punch.

Finally I cut a title using silver card and some more Crafter's Companion dies.
Back with more from this kit early in August.
Thanks for looking.
