Echo Park - Chilling With My Snowmies - Snowflakes are like Kisses

Hello, Karen here again to share another layout using the Chilling With My Snowmies collection from Echo Park. I've enjoyed working with this collection and love the colours in it.

I started with a sheet of smooth white cardstock and onto the middle of the page I applied some watered down Distress Oxide Ink in Faded Jeans using the packaging technique. Once the ink had dried I then added some splatters too. 

Using some white acrylic paint and the Creative Expressions Mini Snowflakes Stencil I added some snowflakes on top of the blue ink. Once the layout was completed not much of the mixed media shows, but it does give a subtle background to the patterned papers.

I layered pieces of the Colorful Snowflakes, Feeling Frosty Snowflakes and Penguins & Snowballs patterned papers onto the layout, distressed the edges and machine stitched round the edges with white thread.

My 6x4 photo was matted with the Winter Floral paper and placed on the layout with 3D foam underneath to add some dimension. In my stash I found some white pom-pom trim and glued this to the bottom of the photo.

I threaded one of the tags from the Frames and Tags pack with some blue ribbon and placed this in the bottom right corner of the photo.

Underneath the tag I tucked some flowers which I had fussy cut from the Winter Floral paper.

On the Silhouette I die cut the word 'Snowflakes' from some navy cardstock and together with some tiny blue foam Thickers I created a big title at the side of the layout.

Finally I decided to add a pop of colour to the left edge of the layout with a strip of the Penguins & Snowballs paper and also dotted some clear flat back gems around the layout to add some sparkle.

Echo Park - Chilling With My Snowmies - Let it Snow

Hello. Karen here today with a second layout using the Chilling with my Snowmies collection from Echo Park. As I write this, snow is forecast where I live in the next few days, so it's probably appropriate that I am scrapbooking photos of a previous snowy day.

I started with a sheet of white cardstock and onto this I placed strips of patterned paper from the collection - Feeling Frosty Snowflakes, Winter Floral (B side), Colorful Snowflakes (B side) and a piece of pale blue cardstock. I cut the papers and card on the diagonal so that they would stretch diagonally across my white cardstock leaving just a narrow gap between each strip and round the edges.

I matted two 4x6 photos and a journaling card (from the sheet of multi journalling cards) onto dark blue cardstock and mounted these in a grid design onto another sheet of white cardstock which measured roughly 10" square. The square of cardstock was then matted with dark blue cardstock and placed in the centre of the layout.

Using the Silhouette Cameo I die cut my title from dark blue card, backed it with pink card and used it to fill the bottom right corner of the grid.

Then I started embellishing the layout using flowers fussy cut from the Winter Floral sheet of patterned paper.

I placed clusters of the flowers in two corners, overlapping them slightly.

In my stash I found some very old white wood veneer snowflakes and added these to the embellishment clusters.

In the bottom right corner of the layout I added the date which I had printed on the computer onto some white cardstock.

Finally, I added a few sequins and enamel dots to the embellishment clusters.

Winter - Simple Stories - Simple Vintage Fresh Snow Collection

Rebecca here, back on the blog today to share my second layout of the year! This month, I’ve been working with the gorgeous Simple Vintage Fresh Snow collection from Simple Stories, and it’s absolutely perfect for winter. I’ve been hoping for snow every week just to gather some beautiful photos to scrapbook with it! (I'm still hoping!!) You can find the full collection in the shop here.

To start, I cut strips from both the Snug & Warm and Winter Wishes patterned papers. After rolling one edge of each strip for added texture, I arranged them horizontally across a sheet of premium white cardstock, overlapping them slightly.

Next, I added my photo, which I matted with a lighter patterned paper to help it pop. To the left of the photo, I placed an element from the Ephemera Pack, and above it, I added a tag which I'd fussy-cut from the Tag Elements patterned paper.

At this point, I felt the white background was washing out the lighter grey woodgrain patterned paper, so I tested out a few patterned papers as my background before settling on the Cabin Fever paper. I really love the leafy pinecone detail in the corners, and wanted to incorporate more of that to help my design flow with the background. I chose some beautiful elements from the Floral Bits & Pieces and added them diagonally, following the natural design of the background. To add some dimension, I raised the edges of these pieces with foam.

To bring a touch of sparkle to the layout, I added a few clusters of metallic silver thread. I love using silver with snow layouts, as it reflects the silvery glisten that snow often has, creating a nice cohesive feel.

For the title, I chose the word "Winter" from the Bits & Pieces pack. The darker letters really stand out against the soft tones of the layout, making the title pop.

To finish the layout, I created two small clusters of stars and snowflakes using die cuts from the Floral Bits & Pieces and Foam Stickers, and added a couple of Rub Ons for that final touch.

Echo Park - Chilling With My Snowmies - It's Snowtime

Hello, Karen here with a scrapbook layout using the Chilling With My Snowmies collection from Echo Park. This collection is such a bright collection with a predominantly red. white and blue colour scheme, with some pink and green thrown in too. It features cute snowmen and penguins as well as florals, snowflakes and snowglobes. Whether you're scrapbooking winter holidays spent on the ski slopes or the occasional flurry of snow in your back garden, this collection is perfect.

I started my layout by removing (gutting) the centre of a sheet of the Snow Globes paper and on top of the hole I stuck a 10" square piece of white cardstock. 

With a black fine liner pen I then doodled a line round the edge of the white cardstock.

Onto the white cardstock I layered rectangular pieces of the Feeling Frosty Snowflakes and the Snow Globes paper and added some horizontal strips of the Colorful Snowflakes, Winter Floral and B side of the Multi Journaling Cards papers. All the papers were lightly inked with black ink to add some definition and to make them stand out a bit against the white background.

My photo was matted on white cardstock and added on top of the paper layers.

In the top left corner of the layout I created a small cluster using more of the patterned papers and a die cut from the Ephemera Frames and Tags pack. 

Using some white twine and some triangles cut from some white glitter card, I created a banner to hang underneath my photo. 

I dug into my button box and found some buttons which matched the colours in the collection and added some to the ends of the banner and also to the cluster at the top of the page. When I first started scrapbooking, buttons were often used on scrapbook pages but I don't see then on pages very often now. I like the pop of colour a button can add and the texture they add. Bring Back The Button!

Using some mini foam alphabet stickers I placed the title directly onto the photo. By positioning it on top of the huge white snowball my son is holding in the picture, the title is easily seen.

Finally, using a manual die cutter, I die cut some snowflakes from more of the white glitter card and dotted these around the layout.

This is a very simple layout but I like how the combination of white cardstock and patterned papers make the colours pop.

Simple Stories Winter Wonder - Hello Winter

Hello again. Karen here with one final layout using Winter Wonder from Simple Stories. I have really enjoyed using this collection and am sorry that I've come to the end of my design team kit.

I began the layout by layering sheets of white and kraft cardstock on top of each other. Careful gutting of the cardstock beforehand meant that I was able to use only one sheet of each colour.

Once I had created the base for my layout I machine stitched with white thread a straight stitch round the edges of two of the pieces of cardstock. I love adding machine stitching to my layouts. It give the layout more texture and interest.

I cut five 3x4 cards from the 2x2/4x4 Elements paper and one from a piece of the Brr Brr Brr paper.  I rounded the corners of the cards with a paper punch and then attached them in a grid design onto the background with the B sides upmost.

From some white glitter cardstock I die cut some snowflakes and placed these in a row horizontally across the middle of the layout and machine stitched through them all.

I attached photos to four of the cards with 3D foam underneath and tag from the Tag Elements paper onto another. I then set about embellishing the cards with die cuts from the Floral Bits and Pieces pack. I chose the pink flowers to co-ordinate with the tag.

More glittery die cut snowflakes were added too.

I strung the tag with some white twine and added some words cut from the 2x2/4x4 Elements paper as a title.

Using some pale pink watercolour paint, I picked out a few of the phrases on the card made from the Brr Brr Brr paper. It's quite subtle, but brings some pink to that part of the layout.

Simple Stories Winter Wonder - Let it Snow

Hello, Karen here. Today I have another layout to share using the gorgeous Winter Wonder collection from Simple Stories. This is a winter themed collection, and whilst we seldom get much snow in the area I live, when we do I always take lots of photos. So I always have photos to use with winter themed collections.

I started this layout by layering a piece of the Comfy.Cozy.Cuddly paper onto a sheet of black cardstock leaving a narrow border and then using white thread I machine stitched a straight stitch round the edges.

Twelve of the tags from the Tag Elements paper were then arranged in three rows horizontally in the middle of the layout. The tags were strung onto white twine and glued in place. My photo was matted with some black cardstock and placed on the right of the layout, on top of the tags, with some 3D foam underneath.

From the pack of Floral Bits and Pieces I chose some of the blue flowers and leaves and tucked these under the edges of the photos.  Some of the flowers are quite big so they fill up quite a bit of the open space on the layout.

In my stash I found some wood veneer snowflakes and added these to the flower clusters.

On the Silhouette Cameo, using a cut file from the Silhouette Store, I cut the title and nestled this beneath the photo. I really like how the S in the word 'Snow' cuddles the words 'Let It'.  Another blue flower from the Bits and Pieces pack was used to embellish the title.

From the Brr Brr Brr paper I cut a word strip and placed this below the photo.

Finally I added the date at the bottom of the layout with some teeny tiny stickers ...

.... and scattered a few iridescent sequins from one of the Picket Fence Studio sequin mixes here and there to give the layout some sparkle.

Simple Stories Winter Wonder - Snow Much Fun

Hello, Karen here again. Today I have a scraplift  to share with you using the Winter Wonder collection from Simple Stories as well as a page from the Discover & Create Painted Backgrounds Paper Pad from Vicki Butin.

Inspiration for this layout was this gorgeous layout created recently by Jana Eubank. I was particularly drawn to the vertical collection of embellishments down the centre of the page.

For my layout I started with a sheet of paper from the Discover & Create Painted Backgrounds Paper Pad from Vicki Butin, which had a purple design on it. The Winter Wonder collection from Simple Stories doesn't have any purple in it, but as my daughter was wearing a purple coat in my photos, I thought the Background paper was perfect. I trimmed the paper down slightly and matted it onto a sheet of pale purple Bazzill cardstock to leave a narrow border all round the edge.

Inspired by Jana's layout, I layered papers from the Winter Wonder collection on top of the background.  Using a black gel pen I outlined all the papers as well as the background paper.

On to the papers I placed my two photos which were matted with white card and tucked a tag, cut from the tag elements paper behind one of the photos. The tag was tied with some black and white twine and the twine was secured in place with some wet adhesive.

Between the two photos I placed a couple of narrow strips of patterned paper to anchor the floral bits and pieces which I cascaded down the page. I chose pieces which were black, pink and green to co-ordinate with the papers used. There are 72 die cuts in the pack of bits and pieces so there were lots to choose from!

In my stash I found some wood veneer snowflakes and stars and added these on top of and around the die cuts.

Letters die cut from a scrap of black cardstock were used for the title placed beneath one of the photos.

The date, cut from more black cardstock, was added at the bottom of the layout.

I finished the layout by scattered a few sequins from Picket Fence Studios here and there.
