Stamperia Clockwise

Hi There,
It's Anita back today with another project using some of the fabulous Stamperia papers that are available in the shop.
I felt that these Clockwork papers had a steampunk feel about them and went with that theme, but they would also work really well for a male based layout too

I backed the page onto a sheet of Laguna Bazill cardstock which I also inked around the edges with a dark brown ink pad to give a distressed effect.
After cutting a random wavy edge all around the sheet of Clockwork Mechanism I roughed up the edges and gently inked them. I then used a Prima Finnibair Elementals Netting Stencil
and sponged some Bronze and Gold acrylic paints through it to create a background.

Using a combination of UTEE Embossing powders in Gold and Bronze and some
Stampendous Frantage Embossing Enamel in Aged Aqua
I sprinkled some randomly about the page and also poured some in little piles to create larger areas when melted. I had to heat the powders from underneath the page instead of the usual way from above, this is because no embossing ink was used and the powder would have simply blown away!

I cut a panel from the sheet of Clockwise with Cards  which I then inked around the edge using a Lightning Gold Ink pad and also used a decent amount of the embossing combo again, some areas were deep enough to pour some glass beads and some jewellery findings into.

I made a photo mat using some gold mirri board that I ran through a Spellbinder 3D M-Bossabilities Creative Cogs Folder, I then swiped it with Bronze, Copper and Black Acrylic paints.
I wanted to add some extra texture using fabric on my page, so I added some metallic mesh fabric and then took some white cheesecloth and popped in a small bowl with a little water and some drops each of Crushed Courduroy and Barn Door Distress Stains
After a few hours in soak I hung it to dry and added it to the page. The cheesecloth takes on the stain really well and I have often used this technique with a big variety of colours.

I was looking for some suitable embellishments to use and had a good rummage in my stash where I found a broken necklace, so used some of the antique looking metal flowers and also a clock Cabochon.

I also found some teeny bottles in my stash, so chose the flattest one and popped some Microbeads in and added it to the layout. I then finished the page with a small scattering of sequins....I do love using sequins on my projects and have a nice selection of colours built up now.

I really enjoyed having a play with all the embossing powders for a change and it felt nice to break out some of my old stash that I have had for years.  I will need to have a trip to the shop I think though as I really would like to get some other colour Frantage Enamel to play with.
Thanks for looking at my post today, I hope you enjoyed it. For all your scrapping and card making needs don't forget to have good look around at the SHOP....its full of wonderful products, with new items coming in all the time.

Happy Scrapping

Pebbles Patio Party from Jen Hadfield - Birthday Layout

Hello Karen here with my first project using Pebbles 'Patio Party' collection by Jen Hadfield. This collection is bright and colourful with lots of florals and stripes and the odd flamingo thrown in for good measure! The collection would be ideal for all sorts of scrapbook layouts or cards and would be especially good  for scrapping summer photos, party photos or, as in the layout I'm sharing with you today, birthday photos.

Inspiration for this layout was the 'Just for You' paper.

Several of the tags on the paper are birthday themed and I chose to use 4 of the tags to create a banner across the bottom half of my birthday layout.

For the base of the layout I took a sheet of 12" x 12" white Bazzill cardstock and trimmed this to 11" x 11". This was matted onto some black Bazzill cardstock and then onto a sheet of the 'Tablescape' patterned paper. I gutted the patterned paper before sticking down the cardstock, so that I could also use it to mat my large 9" x 6" photo. Using pink thread I machine stitched around the edge of the white cardstock and also round the edges of the tags.

I dug deep into my stash to find some old-school eyelets and used these on the tags. The tags were then strung beneath my photo on pink and white bakers twine. I popped some 3D foam underneath the tags and photo to raise them up a bit.

The tags were embellished with die cuts from the Ephemera pack and with some sequins and stickles.

Using small wooden pegs I attached some of the birthday themed die cuts to the banner and  the number 15 was put onto the cake die cut using pink puffy alpha stickers from Pinkfresh Studio

In the top right corner I added another die cut which I stickled  for added sparkle.

My layout was completed with a scattering of sequins and the date was put at the bottom of the page using Websters Pages The Good Life Little Letters Stickers

I really enjoyed using this collection and will be back next month with another project using these great supplies.

Take Care.

Giggle with Kaisercraft Hide & Seek collection

Hi Tracee with you today and this month I am going to share the page I created with the super cute Hide & Seek collection by Kaisercraft. I am a little in the love with the adorable images and the beautiful colour palette that you find in the collection.

These photo's were some very silly ones that I took while visiting my friend Debbi in Maryland, the sun was in our eyes but the backdrop of the old green shutters was lovely so we persevered funny faces and all.
I knew that I wanted to cut out the bear image that features on the papers and embellishments, isn't he just a happy chap. This one was cut from the "Woods" paper as he was just the right size to fit on my 8 x 8 page and his belly was big enough to fit my picture on! I put the bird sticker on top of the bear and he looked like something was missing so I made it look as if he is holding the bunting, that is in the "bit & Pieces" pack, there are tons of elements in these packs so it doesn't feel so extravagant to use a few on each page.

I also used the 6 1/2" x 6 1/2 paper pad from the same collection and this is where I got my leaves from. They are slightly embossed and shiny and this theme also runs through the collection and makes for some lovely embellishments when fussy cut. I cut the arrow border sticker into pieces to add across the page. Of course I couldn't help but add a little shiny fussy cut raccoon to my page as well and I tucked him down between the photos.

I inked and embossed the chipboard Giggle title and the word stickers were from Tim Holtz.  I stitched around part of the paper on my sewing machine with a zigzag stitch. A couple of staples added another element and my page was complete.

I had great fun with this collection and I will bring you more next month. For this page and all your scrapping needs please visit the shop

August Papermaze Kit

Hello, Lynn here today, with the latest kit from Papermaze. This one has bright, summery colours for the month of August as well as some black and white papers.

What's in the kit this time?

The August Kit
Simple Stories - Hello Summer - 3x4 Elements & Life is Good
American Crafts, Heidi Swapp - Pineapple Crush - Tidepool & Coral Reef
Kaisercraft - Full Bloom - Seedlings

Photoplay - Spread Your Wings - Encourage

Reverse side of patterned papers
The cardstock in the kit is Avalanche and Kachina. The extra cardstock pack contains Blossom, Blush Red Medium, Intense Kiwi and Waterfall.

Bazzill Cardstock
The embellishments are: 2 Woodware circle stamps, 2 Amy Tangerine Resist Watercolour Tags, Jillibean Soup - Soup Label stickers, 3 Prima tiny flowers, 1 Dusty Attic word, 5 Prima - Say It In Crystals, 50cm ribbon and 1 strip Doodlebug enamel hearts, 2 Doodlebug Designs doilies - ladybug (last item not in photo).

The same day I was given the kit to work with I had an email with this month's Page Map sketches and thought it would be fun to combine the two!
Here is my first layout, 'Run or Dye' using two photos of my nephew's family when they took part in the 5K charity run.

... and this is the Page Map I started off with.

I started by gutting the Blush Red Medium Bazzill to make a 1" border.
Using my Cricut, I cut my title onto the Avalanche Bazzill and then trimmed it to  measure 11" wide x 11.5" deep. I added some flicks of Distress Stain to the card using a to selection of colours to match the papers. The edges were inked with Evergreen Bough Distress Ink.

I trimmed the manufacturer's strip from the Tidepool paper, then used it to trim the left side of the Avalanche cardstock making the card 11.5" square. this was then mounted onto the frame.

To give a rainbow effect to the letters, I used the colourful stripe side of the Life is Good paper, this was stuck behind the cutout letters, then I added back in the letter centres to the R, D, and O's.

The photos were printed with a white border, and were then mounted onto more of the red cardstock.

I made a journalling panel by cutting out and gutting one of the 4x6 Elements and backing it with the cloud patterned paper from the reverse side of this paper. I added two word from the soup labels sticker sheet from the kit. Finally I added a little more colour to the background with Nuvo Crystal Drops in a selection of colours.

My second layout 'Relax' features two photographs of my son, some years ago enjoying the hammock we set up in the garden between the trees.

... And here is the sketch I chose to work from.

I chose waterfall Bazzill as the base for this layout. I cut a strip of Tidepool paper 2.5" x 12", then cut it in half diagonally. These pieces were randomly stamped with the Woodware circle stamps and placed either side of the layout and trimmed with pale blue ric-rac from my stash.

Using the Tidepool paper again, but with the wording side uppermost, I cut a piece 7" x 6.75" and placed it in the centre of the page. Then I trimmed a piece from the stripe side of Life is Good paper, selecting the blue and green area, this shows 1" above and 1.5" below the photos, I shaped this into a banner at the bottom.

With one of the Amy Tangerine Resist Watercolour Tags supplied, I created an ombre effect by blending several shades of distress ink across the length of the tag. Then I tied a scrap of jute twine to the tag.

Finally I used two leaf dies from a Sizzix Thinlits set called Intricate Native Florals and with some white scrap card I made three clusters of three leaves. The title was cut with a Sizzix Bigz die and Kachina Bazzill.

Back with more early next month. I still have plenty of the kit to use.
Thanks for looking

Being a teenager is hard!

Morning everyone!

Today in my new journal I wanted to do a page about my teenage son. I have been scrapbooking him for many years and have a ton of younger photos but as he is now 14 he doesn't want his photo taken so I have to resort to just writing memories so I can remember them!

So this page is about things I want to remember about him being a teenager. I used the same Simple Stories line as before as I had a ton left over!

Here are some close ups!

I made a little pocket to add some little things that he does ( or doesn't ) do as a teenager!

I really did enjoy working without any pictures! And can't wait to have another try in the journaling books for my design team work next month!

Disney Mini Book with Pockets

Disney Mini Book with Pockets

Hi, it's Lisa here today with a fun Disney project.
I wanted to create something a little fun for my husband's birthday.
Something a little different from a regular greetings card.
I decided to make a quick mini book with some photos of our recent Disney trip.
I do also have a video of the process here for you.

I've started with 2 small card blanks and some double sided tape.

I've overlapped the 2 card blanks, and sticking them together but I'm leaving the top part glue free. So the tape is along run along side the 3 lengths. There's none along the top or in the centre, so it becomes a pocket for my tags as you can see here.

I've used up scraps leftover from a previous project. These papers are from Echo Park - Wish Upon a Star. which you can see here.

I've then decorated the little book using these papers.

I've added some photos.

And I've decorated 2 tags aswell.

I'm so pleased with this little book and it came together so quickly.

It makes such a lovely change from a card.
I hope you enjoy the video too.
Thanks for watching

August Crop (with a tutorial)

It's crop day again tomorrow in Otley, and this month we are going to do some layering with Distress Oxide inks.

There will be cakes, biscuits and drinks available, with discount in the shop.
You are welcome to come along and join us, just drop us an email!

I have been asked to do a quick tutorial on how the flowers were made, for those who couldn't be at the crop. So thought I would add it here.

You will need:
A Craft sheet
A selection of Distress Oxide Ink Pads
Watercolour paper or other white card
heat gun

Water in a mister

Distress Oxide Ink is a fusion of die and pigment ink, which can be used by itself or mixed with other products. The ink is reactive with water and the resulting oxidization process produces a chalky effect - it feels and looks chalky but will not rub off the surface as chalk would. The more water added to the ink the more the dye seeps out.

First step is to add some ink directly onto the craft sheet.

Then spray the ink with some water.

Now swipe or dab the watercolour paper onto the ink.

The colours need to mix a little in some areas to give both the true colours as well as mixed colours, but not so they create mud! Swipe the paper through the colour and dry with the heat gun. go back in again with what is left on the craft may if you like what you see, if it's just muddy ink then clean it up before the next layer.

Now add more colour and dry again, I decided on this piece I needed more yellow and red here.

As long as you dry between each layer the colours will stay true and each layer will not mix with the one before. As you can see in the photo above, the blue bits have remained blue over the red and yellow and not mixed. They have only mixed where they make contact when on the craft sheet before touching the paper.

For my third layer I wanted a bit more of all three colours.

I felt three layers was enough for this piece, but just keep going until you have the intensity you require, and are happy with the result.

Add additional interest by misting or dripping water onto the paper...

.
..and drying yet again.

With some alcohol based, black ink (e.g. Archival or Versafine), and a floral stamp (JOFY from PaperArtsy), stamp your images onto the paper.

Stamp the flower stems onto the layout. Cut the main images from the coloured paper and stick them over the images on the layout, some can be stuck down flat, other raised up on foam DST. Stick some above and others below the fence.

I hope this has been useful and you have fun giving it a go.

Thanks for looking.
