June Papermaze Kit - Part 1

Lynn here today, to introduce you to the colourful June Papermaze Kit.  This month's kit is packed with a beautiful colour collection of yellows, pinks, oranges and fawn. Patterned papers, Bazzill card stock and a selection of embellishments.

Here are the first two layouts I made with this lovely kit.

Before looking at how the layouts were made, here is what you will find in the kit.

Patterned Papers -
49 and Market - Vicki Boutin Artful Moments - Starters Paper #7
Carta Bella - Silly Goose - Best of the Best Bunches
Graphic 45 - Scenic Route - Lemon Yellow Pattern & Solid
Graphic 45 - Always & Forever - Perfect Pink Pattern & Solid & Timeless Floral
Simple Stories - Simple Vintage Lavender Fields - Almond

Photo below shows both sides of the paper sheets

Embellishments - Rosie's Studio - Heartfelt - glitter foam sentiments, Prima - Among the Wild Flowers - Flowers and Tickets, Cocoa Vanilla - Bloom & Grow - Puffy Heart, Paper Favourites - peony diecuts, Pinkfresh Studio - Gems - clear with gold dust, Ivory Ribbon.

Bazzill Basics Cardstock - Bazzill White, Yukon Gold (included in kit), Chiffon, Tutu Pink, Stream and Quick Sand (in Extras pack).

Afternoon Tea - In 2014 my Mum turned 80 and we took her to The Ritz for afternoon Tea, this photo shows me with my daughter at the famous venue.

For this layout I chose the sheet of Starters Paper #7 paper, and arranged it with the fawn band across the top of the page. I glued the lace from the kit across the base of this area.
I mounted my photo onto some white card and positioned it to the right side.

I picked three tags from a sheet of Starters Paper 8 from my own stash. I inked the edges with Distress Inks to match the colour of each tag. With a hole punched in the top I threaded some yellow twine through each hole and tied it in a bow.

I finished the tags off with a glittery brad through each hole. I trimmed one tag down, and tucked it into the top of the photo. The other two tags were applied to the side of the photo at an angle, so I could add my journalling.

Using my Cricut and an Art Nouveau font, I cut the two layers of the title, using Bazzill card stock from the kit (Chiffon and Stream). This was placed to the top left of the layout.

I embellished the page with several Artful Moments Laser Cut Elements. Choosing a rosette, three tiny tags, two leaf fronds and several flowers. Some of these were raised with 3D foam pads to create dimension.

A Very Hungry Caterpillar Thank You - My daughter and I helped my granddaughter make thank you cards after her birthday recently. As she has several gifts and cards featuring the popular caterpillar, this was the theme we chose.

For the background of this layout, I used the Lavender Fields - Almond paper. My photos were trimmed to 6 x 6 cm. I selected two more sheets of the patterned papers (Best of the Best Bunches & Perfect Pink Pattern & Solid). With both these papers I cut 4 squares (also 6 x 6 cm). I arranged these down the left side of the layout, using both sides of both the papers, with the photos on top.

I used a fine black marker pen to draw lines around the edges of the small squares, and the whole layout. I selected three bows from the Artful Moments Laser Cut Elements pack and added these to the photo side of the layout.

I selected one of the caterpillars we made, and placed this to the bottom right of the photos. For the caterpillars we used some green paper to cut leaf shapes, and a hole punch to make munch holes in the leaf, Florence drew on the leaves with her pens. We added a 'Thank you' stamp, and then she had fun sticking a large and four small pom-poms onto the leaf to make the caterpillar. Adult help for adding the googly eyes, finished off the critter.

For the title I used some glittery Thickers and some puffy alphabet stickers from my stash.

Finally, I added my journalling to the patterned papers.

That's all for today, more from this kit soon.
Thanks for looking.

May Papermaze Kit - Part 2

Lynn here today, with the second post sharing very colourful May Papermaze kit. I have used the kit to make four layouts of my children's activities back in the 1990's. The photo below shows the second pair of these layouts.

Before looking at how the layouts were made, here is what you will find in the kit.

Patterned Papers:
49 and Market - Vicki Boutin - Artful Moments - Starters Paper #2 & #9
Simple Stories - Colour Me Happy - Okie Dokie & The Details
Simple Stories - Say Cheese Happiest Place - Adventure
Simple Stories - Take Note - My Favourite Things

The photo below shows both sides of the papers:

Embellishments:
Doodlebug doilies - cupcake & mint, Pretty Little Studio - sunkissed word titles, Pebbles - Sun & Fun puffy dots, Jen Hadfield – Reaching Out – Rainbow Clip, P13 chipboard stars, Vicki Bouton – Bold & Bright puffy stickers, Rosies Studio – Jubilee diecut sentiments, Studio Light Essentials washi tape

Bazzill Basics Cardstock - Raven, African Daisy (included in kit), Ocean Oasis, Bazzill White, Berry Sensation & Intense Kiwi (extra pack).

First Term - Here are the children during their first term at primary school.

I made a 1" (12" x 12") frame using the pink grid side of The Details paper. I stuck this onto a scrap 12" x 12" paper. I  trimmed a sheet of Smooth White Bazzill to 11" x 11" and distressed the edges. With a set of Vicki Boutin Bold & Bright, Full Circle stamps, I created some circles and blots onto the cardstock, using Distress Oxide Inks in Mustard Seed, Broken China, Picked Raspberry and Bundled Sage (the nearest colour matches to the shades of Bazzill, supplied with the kit). I also diluted some of these inks and splashed them over the cardstock.

Once dry, I attached the white Bazzill to the centre of the frame made earlier. I printed my photo and trimmed it to 5" x 6", then mounted it onto white and black Bazzill. I added the photo to the very top right of the layout.

I cut some scalloped strips from the
Okie Dokie paper, and tucked them under the white cardstock onto the frame.

I cut the pencil border Peartree Cutfile from Raven Bazzill, then backfilled it with African DaisyOcean Oasis, Berry Sensation & Intense Kiwi Bazzill and scraps of white card. I placed this across the layout overlapping the photo.

With a piece of lined paper and a notebook edge border punch, I made a little journalling spot for my title and the date. I used a selection of Doodlebug Designs - Alphabet Soup stickers for the title (Bubblegum, Bumblebee, Swimming Pool & Limeade) & other Doodlebug Designs Alphabet stickers from my stash. I added some black rubon numbers and letters to the stamping.

Finally, I trimmed the photo with a bulldog clip from 49 and Market Artful Moments Laser Cut Outs.

Wildlife - The children and I visited the Wildflower Centre near Holt in Norfolk for a very good day out - the first of many visits we made there over the years.

I purchased another sheet of Raven Bazzill and trimmed it to 11.5" x 11.5", I placed it over a 1" frame cut from the black and white floral side of My Favourite Things paper. I flicked some drops of colours I used for the previous layout over the Bazzill.

With the gutted remains of My Favourite Things paper, I fussy cut all the flowers, including some incomplete ones. Once they were all cut and shaped with the scissor blade, I set them aside for later.

I mounted my photos onto some white card and placed them in the centre of the layout without sticking them right to the edges, allowing room to tuck flowers under later.

I created my title and subtitle with some old glittery Thickers from my stash I spelt out the word 'Wildlife', then with a pack of American Crafts Paige Evans Adventurous - Mini Alphabet Thickers I added 'Wildflower Centre' and the year.

I added four paintbrushes from the 49 and Market Artful Moments Laser Cut Outs, two either side of the title. I then arranged all the flowers up the sides of the page to look as if they had been painted there. I matched the colours of the flowers to the paint on the brushes. Once all in place I punched some leaves from the Intense Kiwi Bazzill and scattered these among the flowers.

Finally, I scattered the butterflies from the 49 and Market Artful Moments Laser Cut Outs, along the top of the layout, matching up the colours as before.

That's all for the May kit, I'll be back with the June kit soon.
Thanks for looking.

Carta Bella - Christmas in the City - Smile

Hello!

Claire here today and I've been using up the last bits of my Christmas in the City collection from Carta Bella.

I quite enjoy this time of year from a create perspective, seeing how versatile a Christmas collection can be and this one did not disappoint.

I've opted to scrap a picture from one of our walks over the festive period. It's was very cold and frosty and although we definitely weren't in a city, the papers still worked fantastically well for my photo and I love how they could be adapted for my layout theme.

So to start, I cut varying widths of papers using the mustard cardstock from the Matchmaker Pack, Merry Snowflake Sky (red) and Christmas Tree Cab (green b side).

I began layering them vertically and horizontally but wanted to add extra framing. To create this, I cut two triangles from a square of the blue b side of the Merry Snowflake Sky paper, and layered this underneath my red paper to frame the corners. I love this bold edge - I think it helps the red paper to pop off the page.

I also opted for a small splash of mixed media, adding dry Distress Oxide with a brush to extend the grass colours of the photo.

I really love the Peace on Earth Pines paper - it reminds me of beautiful festive foliage so felt very  fitting as the border for my photo. I added this to my other papers with foam for extra dimension.

Next, I raided my stash of dies and chose some snowflakes which I cut from plain white cardstock. There's an amazing choice of dies in the shop, and they're such fun to incorporate into your project. I'd highly recommend you take a peek! You can find loads of snowflake dies here

To the centres of each snowflake, I added a small sticker from the Element Stickers which echoes the colours of the paper into the snowflakes, making it feel more cohesive.

I also chose to use the little pennant stickers to create a small banner cluster to the left of my photo along with the December sticker to note the month of the photo.

I pulled some Thickers from my stash to create my Smile title, and lightly added some green watercolour pain to each letter to pull in the green colour.

To finish, I added a small sprinkling of Pinkfresh Studio Crystals which give the slightest sparkle and help bring this frosty page to life! There are some Pinkfresh Jewels in the shop here.

I hope you've enjoyed this layout and are inspired to stretch your own Christmas collections.

Until next month, happy scrapping!

Claire

August Papermaze Kit - Part 1

Lynn here today with the bright, summery August kit, which has been great fun to work with. Here are the first two layouts I have created with this kit. The kit is now available in store and online. I have been working with photos of my granddaughter's recent visit to us in Suffolk.

This is what you will find inside the kit:

Patterned Papers:
Doodlebug Designs - Butterfly Kisses collection - Happy Thoughts & Garden Party
Echo Park - Have a Great Summer collection - Best Life Butterflies
Lawn Fawn - Bitsy Blooms collection - Begonia
Photoplay - This Happy Life collection - Sweet Hello
Simple Stories - Crafty Babe collection - Live. Love,.Scrap

The photo above shows both sides of the papers.

2 Doodlebug Designs cupcake doilies, Pretty Little Studio Berry Sweet Word Stickers, flair button, strip of jewels, 6 SS Simple Vintage Flower Shoppe Sentiment Bits & Pieces, Pretty Little Studio Word Cut Aparts You Are My Sunshine, Rosie's Studio 2 chipboard pieces Born to Bloom and 6 Doodlebug Designs All Aflutter stickers

Bazzill Basics Cardstock - Fussy, Aqua (included in kit), Granny Smith, Tangelo, Pollen and Coconut Swirl (in extra pack).

Ball Pit Fun - We took Florence along to a toddler group where she loved playing in the big ball pit. These colourful photos were ideal for the papers in this kit.

I stared by cutting out the tags on the Doodlebug Design Inc. Happy Thoughts paper, and matching them with my Distress Inks.

Once I selected the colours, I diluted a little ink of each colour on the craft mat with some water. I used a small jar top, to mimic the balls, and stamped circles all over the Coconut Swirl Bazzill. I wriggled the jars a little on the cardstock to make the ink move around. I also flicked some of the wet ink over the page.

The 6 tags were all treated in the same way, using the corresponding colour ink and other items. I inked the edges of the tags, punched a hole in the top, and attached an acrylic flower (which I have had in my stash some time, but I think were from Doodlebug Design Inc.), with a matching brad.

A photo was placed onto three of the tags, my journalling was written on the fourth. The other  two were used to add the date and the title. For the lettering I used Doodlebug Designs Inc. Alphabet Soup puffy letter stickers in colours to match the tags, inks and other items.

I found some Bakers twine in my stash in yellow and pink and used a length of each to join the rows of tags together.

I decorated each tag with a phrase from the Berry Sweet Word Stickers supplied in the kit.

Finally, with a black pen I did a little doodling and added the Doodlebug Designs All Aflutter butterfly stickers, from the kit.

Pebbles - Florence discovering pebbles on the beach at Aldeburgh.

For this layout I selected the Aqua Bazzill from the kit for the background. Then using some scrap white, I found this cutfile on the Cricut and cut the whole image to use as a stencil for placing the coloured pieces into place. Then I cut the pieces I wanted from the Tangelo and Pollen Bazzill as well as the Live. Love,.Scrap and Begonia papers. I distressed and inked all the pieces before putting them in place on the Aqua Bazzill.

I mounted the photos onto some white card, and arranged them onto the layout.

I made a banner from a length of Baker's Twine and the Word Cut Aparts You Are My Sunshine from the kit. I raised the flags on 3D foam pads.

My title was made with Dear Lizzy Thickers Treasure.

With a selection of pearls and gems, I added a little sparkle to the layout.

That's all for today, I'll be back with more from this kit soon.
Thanks for looking.
