November Papermaze Kit - Part 2

Hi - Lynn here today, with the second pair of layouts I have made for the design team, using this month's Papermaze kit . the kit is packed with the a beautiful selection of autumn-coloured papers and embellishments. I loved working with the November kit and have created these two  layouts for my second post - I made a halloween and a heritage layout this time.

Before looking at how the layouts were made, here is what you will find in the kit.

Bazzill Basics Cardstock - Yukon Gold, Pinecone (included in kit), Twill, Ruby Slipper, Aspen & Pumpkin Patch.

Picking Pumpkins - My great nieces went to Tulley's Pumpkin Festival with their family and friends this autumn.

For the background I used the sheet of Twill Bazzill, and flicked some watered-down Distress Ink in Carved Pumpkin, Rusty Hinge and Ground Espresso. I set this aside to dry while I did some die cutting.

I cut a pile of leaves using the Pumpkin Patch Bazzill using the Tim Holtz Sizzix Thinlits Skeleton Leaves die set. This is a very versatile die set, which I have used many times for cards and layouts.

I arranged these leaves over the left side of the Twill Bazzill. I saved a few for embellishing later.
With a Circles die set, I cut photos from the outing in various sizes. I also cut one circle in white card for journalling, and another slightly larger as a mount for the journalling spot (I used a scrap of Falling Leaves paper).

The photos were arranged down the centre of the layout, together with the journalling spot. I added my journalling and a title to the white card circle. The word 'Picking' was created with Tangerine Doodlebug Designs Alphabet Soup letter stickers. For the word 'Pumpkins' I did some more die cutting, this time I used Spellbinders - Simple Stories - Say Cheese - Classic Pooh alphabet and numbers set, along with Yukon Gold & Pinecone Bazzill.

I tied the remains of the hemptique yarn into a bow and glued it under the title. The spare die cut leaves were arranged , tucked under the photos and white card. Finally, I scattered the Pretty Little Studio gingersnap I heart fall stickers, over the right side of the layout.

Charles and Aditha - A heritage layout using the Carta Bella papers from the kit. 

To start this layout, I worked out the size I wanted my finished hexagon to be, and cut the first one with 4.5" sides from the honeycomb side of the Honeycomb Clusters paper. I used the cells of the honeycomb print to work out the angles for cutting my shape. I distressed and inked the edges of this piece with Wild Honey Distress Ink. I attached this hexagon the black side of the Fall Flowers paper, and trimmed around the edges about 0.25" all round to make a border. The edges of this larger hexagon were treated in the same way as before.

I selected a sheet of cream cardstock from my stash and set about creating a multimedia backdrop For the large hexagon. Using the hexagon to work out where I wanted my stencilling etc. to show, I set about iusing a Vicki Boutin stencil and some Wild Honey Distress Oxide Ink, to create the honeycomb effect. I spritzed this with a little water and allowed the ink to oxidize and spread a little. This was left to dry, then I stamped some Distress Stain splodges in two colours - Walnut Stain and Forest Moss. Then the whole page was left to dry. 

The Large matted hexagon was applied to the centre of the cardstock. My photo was mounted onto a piece of the green side of Bees and Flowers paper, and set left of centre. 

The title was cut from my Tonic Studio Windsor Alphabet dies, and more of the Bees and Flowers paper. This was arranged to the right of the photo. 

I fussy cut some of the large flowers from the Bees and Flowers paper and some small flowers from the Fall Flowers paper, these were arranged in two clusters, some were glued down, others raised up with 3D foam pads (top right and bottom left of the hexagon). I added plenty of leaves from the Bees and Flowers paper. I added a touch of sparkle with a little Nuvo Glitter drops to the bee wings.

Finally, I embellished the page with the Pinkfresh Studio garden bouquet enamel dots from the kit.

May Papermaze Kit - Part 2

Lynn here, returning with the second post, sharing my layouts using the Papermaze Kit for May. Some lovely cheery bright colours in the papers, card and embellishments. Here are my last two layouts for this month.

Geisha Girl - The photo in this layout is one of a series my father took while experimenting with a camera and colour photo processing back in the 1950's

The base for this layout is a sheet of Tutu Pink Bazzill cardstock. I cut a piece of Cherry Blossoms paper tearing the edges to end up with a piece 8" x 11", which I placed towards the bottom of the cardstock.

I cut the two doilies in half and used three piece to tuck into the top of the paper. More of a lacy effect was created with a 12" length of 1.25" white cotton lace.

I printed my photo, mounted it onto some white card and placed it to the right side of the layout. Using the Cricut I cut some cherry blossom flowers in several sizes, and the Bazzill White, Grenadine & Black Bazzill. I also cut an 8" ring and some large swirls, also in black.

My journalling was printed onto some white card, and tucked it into the top of the patterned paper.

My title was cut using some gold cardstock and the Cricut, and arranged long the outside of the black ring.

I placed the Rosie's Studio Bayfair dragonfly at the top right of the layout. Finally, I added a touch of sparkle to the centre of each blossom, with some Gold Coast, Nuvo Glitter Drops.

I'm Gonna Learn How To Fly - These photos were taken when we celebrated my father's 70th birthday with a Tiger Moth flight. After the flight, the grandchildren were allowed to sit in the cockpit for a photo.



This layout started with the sheet of Postcard paper, I gutted the centre, making a frame of 0.75" including the airmail style border. I flipped the gutted centre over to show the blue world map side. I distressed and inked all the edges, and glued them to a spare sheet of 12" x 12" paper.

Using Admiral Bazzill I cut a title and arrows using the Tim Holtz, Thinlits, Sizzix die set - Vault World Travel. I also cut a globe with the Destination die set.

With the Vault Noteworthy die set, I cut a clipboard with silver Miri card and Kraft Bazzill. The note paper was cut from a scrap of lined paper. I added my journalling to the note paper.

My photos were mounted onto some of the Wildberry Pie Bazzill cardstock, They were arranged onto the centre of the layout and tied together with some red, white and blue twine.

Using the two Woodware junk Label Stamps from the kit, I stamped them onto some scrap card with black Archival Ink. I cut these out and inked the edges with Blueprint Sketch Distress Ink.

All the pieces were arranged around the photos, with the addition of a few of the Rosie's Studio Bayfair Sentiments Ephemera from the kit.

I used the manufacture's strip and cut both 'Born To Travel' labels from it, then arranged these under the clipboard.

Finally, I scattered the Dress It Up red hearts from the kit, over the page.

August Papermaze Kit - Part 2

Hello, Lynn here today, with my second post showing layouts made with the Papermaze kit for the month of August. Full of tropical papers, card and embellishments.

Flights of Fancy - This photo was taken at Henstead Exotic Garden in Suffolk where we help out. It shows Alan Titchmarsh visiting Andrew who created the garden for the Flights of Fancy
part of Britain's Best Garden series. His garden was a winner for 2015.

For this layout I started by fussy cutting all the leaves from the 'Paradise Found' paper. I inked the edges of the leaves with Saltwater Taffy Distress Ink and curved the leaves. Then I arranged them in a frame around the 'Love This Day' paper. I used foam tape to add shape to the leaves.

I cut the two birds from the 'Tropical Vibes' paper, and I made a tag for my journalling from the scraps of this paper too. 

I used DMC Threads in a variety of colours to match the papers, I threaded them through the hole made in the tag. Then I unravelled the individual coloured threads so they all mingled together. Then I wrote my journalling on the tag.

Together with the Prima paper flower from the kit, I arranged the birds and tag onto the page.
Selecting from the kit, I used the ephemera and the chipboard phrases on the page too.
My title was cut from some metallic card, using a Tim Holtz BigsXL Sizzix die - Society. The title was added to the top of the page, across the leaves. I decorated the leaves with tiny dots of Nuvo Crystal Drops in White.

Finally, the date was created with Rosie's Studio Simply Charming puffy letter stickers.

Fun in the Sun - A photo of my daughter, complete with face paint, taken on a day out to Pecorama, when on holiday in Devon.

I trimmed the 'Pink Skies' paper to measure 11.5" x 11.5" and mounted it on a 1" frame, gutted from the Ivy Bazzill cardstock.  I used a craft knife to cut round the right-hand wings of the butterfly.

I mounted my photo onto Ivy cardstock, and placed it onto the layout, tucking it under the butterfly wings I cut earlier, without sticking it in place. Then I arranged the tickets from the kit around the photo, peeking out from under the photo. I also used a scrap of film frame from last month's kit.

I cut some phrases from the 'Sightseeing ' paper, inked the edges and laid them in place. All the elements prepared so far were then stuck in place.

I used a Pretty Little Studio - Sunkissed - Fun in the Sun Word Title to make my title, and raised it with foam pads. I added my daughter's name with some alphabet beads, threaded onto some pink wire.

The date was placed into the film frame with Doodlebug Designs Alphabet Soup puffy letter stickers - Cupcake.

Finally, I scattered the heart stickers from the kit, together with gems and sequins from my stash, over the page.
