Pinkfresh Studio - Lovely Blooms - What Really Matters

Claire back here with you today, sharing my second layout with the Lovely Blooms collection from Pinkfresh Studio.

What I really love about this collection in particular, is the different colour combinations. 

If you saw my first layout, you may remember is was full of beautiful bright, summer colours. This time, I'm focusing on the earthier, warmer tones with pops of burgundy, warm creams and burnt oranges.  It has a completely different feel and I'm here for it! Who doesn't love a single collection that offers so much versatility! 

I used a cutfile to create a large doily in the centre of my page, cut from the B side of the Choose Happy paper. This is the perfect piece to anchor the page and build my clusters.

I layered my photograph on one of the elements from the Journaling bits pack. I offset it slightly letting these shades of green blend with the background of my photo.

Next came the fun part - the layering and building of that beautiful floral cluster at the bottom, which supports my photo.

I pulled out all of the warmer tones from the Floral Ephemera, fussing cutting a few extra orange and one small blue flower from the Bloom Brightly paper.

I lay some on foam and some flat, curling the edges of the petals and leaves by rolling then around a pencil.

Once these were all in place, I reached for the Fabric Stickers, adding the 'Be You' sticker to the bottom of the cluster. These are great for extra texture - they bring that little something extra to your projects.

For my title, I created a much smaller cluster in the top right, using a banner from the Journaling bits, the fabric stickers and Floral Ephemera. The width of the banner helps balance the bigger cluster at the bottom.

As a final touch, I added a few enamel dots to the clusters to echo the colours of this beautiful collection.

I really do love these tones of the collection, and how it enables me to scrap layouts with a completely different look and feel. I hope you've enjoyed reading about how it all came together.

Echo Park ~ Wizards & Company #1 🧙‍♀️

I’m working with Echo Park Wizards and Company for my next few blog posts…

I was keen to get my hands on this new collection to document some of my Harry Potter photos from our Orlando holiday last year. 

For my first layout, I have created a grid page. This style of page is definitely my go to page design - especially when I want to include lots of photographs. I had lots of pictures from the Wizarding World of Harry Potter as there’s so many little details to take note of. 

I used the 2x2 squares on the 6x4 journaling cards paper combined with my photos to create my grid. I used a large square punch to cut out my photos which were printed 3x4 and just trimmed them down slightly to measure the same size as the 2x2 squares.

I arranged my grid in the centre of white bazzill cardstock. I decided that a boarder was needed so I gutted the ‘Lets Fly Away’ paper and mounted my cardstock with the boarder. 

I added some stickers from the element stickers around my layout, mostly in clusters at the sides of the grid, but also dotted around on the grid between the photos. 

I added a few Pinkfresh Studio Jewel Essentials around my layout too.

July Papermaze Kit - Part 1

Lynn here with the latest kit from Papermaze. The July kit is available from the shop or online from today. Here are my first two layouts using the bright colourful papers, cardstock and embellishments from the kit.

Matching Bazzill Basics Cardstock Pack - Mauve Ice, Grenadine, Peach Creme & Blue Star

Bloom Where You Are Planted - this photo shows my daughter, day dreaming on her bed.

This super 'Pinwheel' paper from 49 and Market, needs very little work to make it into a layout.

I prepared all the elements before sticking anything in place. First, I backed my photo with some Black Bazzill cardstock. Then I used a die from a Tim Holtz Sizzix Thinlits set called Wild Stems #2, I cut eight stems in Black and one each in eight colours to match the segments on the patterned paper.

I used a black and white die cut element from a bag of Ephemera Bits, and cut this into two pieces so it would be seen above and below the photo. From this collection I also chose a heart element for each of the eight colours.

Once I had all this ready, I arranged them on the page. When everything was stuck in place, I chose the title from a set of Pretty Little Studio, Sunkissed Word Titles. I placed some 3D foam pads under this to give it some dimension and attached it to the page.

I selected Dew Drops in eight colours and scattered them around each segment of the design.

I started this layout by cutting a star onto a sheet of scrap paper, using the 'Star Pieces' cutfile from Peartree Cutfiles.

I trimmed the white Bazzill from the kit to measure 11.5" x 11.5", then using my cut-out star, I stencilled it onto the white card using Candied Apple Distress Oxide Ink. I also inked the edges of the cardstock.

I mounted my photo onto the black and white side of Happy Plaid paper, and set this aside.

I made a template, by adding tow of the cut-out triangles together, and making a kite shape. I used this to draw round and cut out five shapes from patterned papers from the kit (Happy Plaid and Brighten your Day Dots). The edges were inked and arranged in place on the layout along with the photo.

With a fine black marker pen, I doodled around the outer edge of the layout, and the edges of all the shapes.

I embellished the layout with the puffy flower stickers from the kit, and small dots, created with a selection of different colours of Nuvo Crystal Drops.

The title was created with stickers from my stash (Doodlebug Designs Alphabet Soup and Pinkfresh Studio The Best Day)

Finally, I mounted the white cardstock centrally onto the Grenadine Bazzill.

Christmas In July - Vicky Boutin Peppermint Kisses

 Hello again, Julie here with Christmas in July!  I know it is rather early to be starting on Christmas but the scrapbooking industry is already releasing their gorgeous new Christmas collections and I thought it would be a great idea to get ahead before things get far too busy in December.  Do you, like me, look at other people's December daily journals or Christmas scrapbooks and wonder how they ever have time to complete them?  I am here to try to inspire you to get ahead and to get an album made, ready for December to just pop photos in whenever you want and have space to write a line or two.

I started with a red Sn@p flipbook as my base as it already includes 10 4x6" pockets, this is a base and I intend to add my own pages but the plastic pockets enable you to simply slot in 4x6" journaling cards and add photos if that is what you wanted to do, or you can add embellishments or make shaker pockets they are a great place to start.

This blog post I am concentrating on the cover of my "Jolly Season" journal.

I covered the front cover with the beautiful Vicki Boutin Peppermint Kisses Around Town which has lovely festive houses across the page.  I knew I wanted to create a wintery scene but not focus too much on my album being all about December or just Christmas,  I want to dip in and out throughout the festive season.  I found a lovely 3x4" journaling card which had a blank polaroid photo frame on it (Peppermint Kisses Tags) to use as a background and a tag that said Jolly Season on the Peppermint Kisses 3x4 paper. 

I layered these using foam dot and wanted to add a little more embellishment so I used some pink bazzill paper and cut out a 3d poinsettia flower (similar to this) and then dipped the ends of the leaves in glue and added fine white glitter, I have found doing this really makes the leaves pop,  I then added a little cascade of stars and layered a glitter mix I created on top.

I wanted to highlight the lovely festive houses and used my trusty circle dies (similar to this), cut out of white cardstock, to draw focus to each house and the pine tree underneath them.  As my dies have little dots on them it looked a bit like snow to me .

To add texture to the corner of the cover I used the brilliant Tim Holtz Distress Grit Paste Snowfall,  it is a dimensional translucent medium infused with a clear glitter that dries to a textured sparkle finish.  I love the effect it creates, it adds sparkle without being too much, however it is difficult to photograph!  You can add different colours to it to create a different effect but I love leaving it clear.  I then added a few sequins on top to tie in the whole front page.

To make the final touches I used my trusty Crop-o-dile to add some eyelets and added some beaded embellishments I created but you could add anything you like.  The two pom poms I added are actually hair clips!

I hope you enjoyed this project, next time I will focus on creating the inside of the album, some pages will be very easy and simplistic and others will have a bit more detail.  I encourage you to get yourselves and album and make 2023 the year you are prepared well in advance for Christmas!  Here is a little sneak peek of my next blog post.

July Crop

 It's that time of the month again, our July crop is this Saturday, the 15th.  Our colourful kit has been designed by Lynn.

49 & Market Spectrum Gardenia - The Sweet Life

Hello, Karen here again with one more layout to share using the Spectrum Gardenia collection from 49 & Market. For my design team projects I have been using the Painted Foundations papers. Each Painted Foundation patterned paper has a painted effect in a beautiful range of color and the papers give the look and feel of mixed media without the mess. They are a heavy weight cardstock so if you want to add your own extra mixed media they withstand water, etc really well with little warping.

The layout I'm sharing today is very simple but I hope shows that with very little effort you can achieve a decent layout using these papers.

 

As usual, I started  by trimming my patterned paper  by .5cm on each edge and then matted this onto a sheet of Bazzill cardstock. This time I chose black cardstock and using black thread I machine stitched round the edges with a straight stitch.

I wanted to continue the printed paint design further onto the left side of the layout so using an acrylic brush I brushed some matching purple and pink acrylic paint on the layout. Once the paint had dried, to add some texture, I also applied some white gesso to the the layout in various places through a dotty stancil.

Once the gesso had dried, my two photos which were double matted on white and pink cardstock were add to the layout. 3D foam was placed underneath the photos to add dimension.

In the pack of Essential Laser Cut Outs there are lots of lace strips so I used these to embelish the layout, placing them horizontally tone on tone.

I also added some thin strips of the B side of the Painted Foundations Colour Wheel paper too.

One of the American Crafts Vicki Boutin Sweet Rush - Loving This Phrase Thickers was placed above one of the photos as a title. I have chosen a black title and other pops of black on all my layouts using this collection as I think the black really makes the bright colours pop.

Journalling was printed onto strip of white cardstock on the computer and added to the bottom of the layout after the edges of the strips were inked up.

Finally I added the date with pink puffy stickers and a few sequins were dotted here and there.

I hope you like this layout and will try using a Foundation Painted paper from 49 & Market. There are still lots available in the shop at this time.

Explore Nature - 49 and Market - Vintage Artistry Nature Study Collection

Hello, it’s Rebecca with you today sharing my first layout of July. I can’t quite believe how quickly the weeks are flying by at the moment. This month I’m creating with the stunning Vintage Artistry Nature Study collection from 49 and Market. It’s a beautiful collection and really reminds me of a couple of the Simple Stories Vintage collections - which is probably why I was so drawn to it! I love the earthy, outdoorsy tones in this collection. You can take a look at it in the store here.

I’m a sucker for gingham and plaid patterns, so I selected the ‘Exploration’ paper to start with. It’s quite a dark paper, so I knew I needed some white to work with. I cut a sheet of Premium White Cardstock down to about 9 inches wide, and then tore along the bottom edge at an angle. Initially I was just going to have this one large white area, but not long after machine stitching it in place, I decided to add a smaller area to the bottom as well. The torn edges and machine stitching help to introduce some texture to the page, which is always something I strive for. 

After marking up where my photo was going to sit, I added some mixed media to my background. I’ve relied heavily on the 6x8 Foliage Rub Ons to add some detail and colour, and then using a Distress Ink in ‘Peeled Paint’, I’ve added a little ink using a sponge. I love that the Mushrooms & Foliage Laser Cut Outs come in large sheets. Once I’d sat and removed them all, I loved the way the negative spaces looked and so I used the space where the fern leaf had been as a stencil to add some foliage to my background (again using the Peeled Paint Distress Ink).

The Chipboard Words Set make for fantastic titles and take away the stress of trying to come up with a title myself. For this layout I’ve used the word ‘Explore’ and have then added a chipboard sentiment from the same pack, which says ‘Nature’, underneath. 

Chipboard is a great way to bring some dimension to the page so I added a couple more bits - a circular log slice and two circular flairs. 

To finish off, I’ve added some leaves, mushrooms and butterflies from the Laser Cut Outs packs. Placing foam pads behind the leaves has allowed me to bring a bit more dimension to the layout and also makes the leaves look more realistic.
