Mintay Paper - Summer Highlands - Wildflower Smile

Hello, Karen back today with a final layout using the Summer Highlands collection from Mintay Papers. My layout today uses another heavily patterned paper so I kept the layout very simple with minimal embellishments and a single, large photo.

I started with a sheet of Paper #4, which I trimmed down slightly and layered onto a sheet of white cardstock to create a narrow border around the edge. 

For a  touch of texture, I added some machine stitching around the edge of the paper using white thread.

I matted my photo with white cardstock and some woodgrain paper from the 6x8 Add-On Paper Pack, finishing it with some machine stitching around the edge. 

Using my craft knife, I carefully sliced a slit around some of the printed flowers on the background paper. This created a slot to tuck my matted photo into, blending the photo into the floral design.

Under the right edge of the photo, I tucked a honeycomb die-cut. Choosing to cut this from green cardstock was a way to echo the green tones found in the rest of the layout and also added  a bit of texture.

Since this collection doesn't include large alphabet embellishments, I decided to make my own faux chipboard letters. I die-cut my title letters once from the woodgrain patterned paper and then cut the same letters four times from white cardstock. Using wet adhesive, I stacked and glued them all together. This is the perfect way to create a sturdy title from papers in the collection that coordinates perfectly with your layout.

I placed the title at the bottom of the layout, finishing it off with the word "smile" cut from  gold mirror card.

I printed a few words onto a kraft tag and tied this to one of the title letters with some neutral twine.

Next, I fussy-cut a few creatures from Paper #9 and the Add-On Paper Pack to scatter across the page. I also dug into my stash and found a couple of leftover die-cuts from the Wildwood Secrets collection I used last year. Wildwood Secrets coordinates beautifully with Summer Highlands and it's still available in the shop if you want to mix and match them yourself.

Finally, I scattered a few gold sequins here and there.

Mintay Paper - Summer Highlands - Chamonix Mont-Blanc

Hello, Karen here. I’m back with another layout featuring the gorgeous Summer Highlands collection from Mintay Papers. For this layout, I decided to challenge myself by working with one of the busy, full page background prints. To make it work without overwhelming the page, I used a technique I've used before framing a specific section of the pattern with a large circle cut from white cardstock.

To get started, I took a 12x12 sheet of smooth white cardstock and cut a large, 10-inch circle out of the centre. I trimmed down the outer edges of the cardstock slightly and layered it directly over paper #1. This allowed the pattern to peek through both the central window and around the outer border.

Next, I added some machine stitching around the edge of the cardstock using white thread for a bit of texture and also added a few splatters of watered-down Peeled Paint Distress Oxide.

Sitting on my desk was a scribbled circle cut file I’d cut from some woodgrain cardstock for a previous project but never used. I held it up to the page and couldn't believe it fit inside the circular hole perfectly and as I liked the look I glued it down!

 

I matted four small photos onto a single piece of white cardstock to resemble a photo booth strip. Then, I layered this strip onto some woodgrain paper from the 6x8 Add-On Paper Pad and placed it on the right side of the layout, overlapping the circle frame.

Beneath the circle, I used some die-cut letters to spell out the location where the photos were taken.....

..... and included the date at the top of the layout.

Next, I grabbed paper #9 and fussy cut some of the images  to use as embellishments.

I popped up the fussy-cut images using 3D foam  to add some dimension to the layout.

As a final touch, I scattered a few green enamel dots here and there.

Mintay Paper - Summer Highlands - Crimson Days

Hi everyone, Karen here. I’m so excited to be creating with the gorgeous Summer Highlands collection from Mintay Papers this month. If you love peaceful holidays in the countryside and outdoor adventures, this one is for you. The colour palette is a beautiful mix of reds, browns, beiges, and creams, packed with images of mountain landscapes, vintage maps, daisies, poppies, wild strawberries, hiking boots, cameras and lots more.

For my first layout I trimmed paper #4 and layered it onto red cardstock to create a narrow border. After adding some black paint splatters to the background, I let it dry completely before adding anything else.

Next, I machine-stitched a straight line around the edge using red thread, then glued down some red gingham ribbon from my stash just inside the stitching for a double-border look.

I matted my square photo with paper from the 6x8 Add-On Paper Pack and placed it in the top right corner.

Using more paper from the Add-On Pack and some red cardstock, I created eight rosettes in varying sizes. A tip when making rosettes - always use hot glue to secure your rosettes! Because it dries quickly and holds strongly, you can easily gather the centre of your paper fans without them springing open.

In the centre of each rosette, I attached some old Card Candi from my stash (buttons, enamel dots, or gems would work perfectly too). I then clustered the rosettes around the photo, mixing up the colours as I went.

I cut some poppies from paper #10 and tucked them under some of the rosettes.

I cut a title on the Silhouette from red and cream cardstock and placed this in the top left corner fo the layout.

For journaling, I printed the "where and when" onto a tag, tied it with twine, and layered it on top of one of the rosettes.

A few scattered enamel dots finished off the layout.

I'm really enjoying this collection and look forward to sharing another project with you soon.

Mintay Papers - Rust & Rose - Remember

Hello everyone. Karen here. Today, I'm thrilled to share my second scrapbook layout featuring the beautiful Rust & Rose collection by Mintay Papers.

What instantly drew me to this collection were its stunning colours. The pretty pinks and reds in the Rust & Rose papers were perfect for scrapbooking a favourite  photo of my daughter, captured one autumn. 

I began my layout with a 12x12 sheet of smooth white cardstock. In the centre I created an inky texture using the smooshing technique with watered-down Pumice Stone Distress Ink.

I skipped applying gesso first which let the cardstock absorb the ink directly. This resulted in a cool variation in colour. Even though much of this background gets covered up by papers, it still peeks out in places, providing a nice contrast between the white cardstock and the patterned papers.

With the inky base dry, I cut strips from Paper #4, distressed and inked their edges, and layered them horizontally over the centre. In my stash I found some very old copper metallic mini brads and used them to secure the ends of the strips, giving the layout a rustic touch.

I also found some lace and added this to the paper strips.

A 3x4 photo was matted with a very narrow white border and added to the layout. 

Die cuts from the Die Cut Pack were used to create a large cluster across the bottom left corner of the photo. 3D foam was used to raise some of the pieces to add some dimension.

The title was added using small foam alphabet stickers. Unfortunately I had run out of the letter 'e' so had to Frankenstein some of the other letters to make my own e's. Sometime a scrapbooker has to get creative with their supplies!

Finally I splatted some pink acrylic paint over the layout.

This is quite a simple layout which came together easily using the Rust & Rose collection.

Mintay Papers - Rust & Rose - Autumn

Hi everyone! I'm so excited to share a project today featuring the brand-new autumn collection from Mintay Papers: Rust and Rose. What makes Rust and Rose stand out is the unique colour combination which is not the typical autumn colour palette. As well as deep reds, warm browns, and orange it also includes soft pinks and burgundies. You get the perfect autumn feel with images of cute creatures, beautiful leaves and florals.

For the base, I chose the b side of the 12 x 12 elements paper. I cut down the sheet slightly and layered it onto 12 x 12 sheet of white cardstock, which left a narrow border round the edge.

Using my Silhouette, I die cut a circular floral frame. I originally wasn't sure what colour I wanted it to be, so I cut it from plain white cardstock. Later, when I settled on pink to match the collection, I simply coloured the frame with a pink alcohol marker. 

I then mounted the finished pink frame onto the centre of my layout.  I took the inner piece that the machine cut out and glued it back into the middle, leaving it white.

I also die cut a large maple leaf, which I coloured the same pink, backed with more of the patterned paper and layered inside the frame. To give the die-cut a little extra sparkle and dimension, I added some pink sequins.

My photo was placed on top of the leaf, positioned over the right edge of the frame.

I delved into the pack of paper die cuts and created a scene at the bottom of the page using florals, pumpkins, leaves and a cute cat. I used 3D foam underneath several of the die cuts to raise them up a little.

In the top right corner I added a title cut from navy blue cardstock. This echoes the navy colour in the photo.

Finally I scattered some navy blue enamel dots along the bottom of the page.

September Papermaze Kit - Part 2

Hello, Lynn here today - I have two layouts for you from the Papermaze September kit. The kit has six double-sided patterned papers, a selection of embellishments and 2 sheets of Bazzill Basics Cardstock. There is also an extra pack of 4 sheets of Bazzill, selected to match the colours in the kit. 

Before looking at how the layouts were made, here are the details of what you will find in the September kit.

Embellishments:
Selection of Laser Cuts - 49 and Market - Nature's Haven, 3 Little Birdie Flowers, Little Birdie butterfly, 2 Doodlebug bitty berries strawberries, P13 Till We Meet Again alpha sheet, 1 acrylic phrase and 1m pink twine.

Bazzill Basics Cardstock - Touch of Pink, Lily Pond (included in kit), Hibiscus, Bark, Avocardo & Powder Blue (in extra pack). 

Minnie Mouse - Flo's uncle brought this Minnie hoodie back from Disney World for her. Here she is modelling her new outfit.

Using a sheet of Smooth White Bazzill, I stencilled some sparkles (Tim Holtz, Layering Stencil THS132) with some Distress Ink - Festive Berries. I flicked some Festive Berries and Black Soot ink over the page. Then to add sparkle, I also splattered Distress Mica Stain - Crooked Broomstick. 

I cut a 3" x 12" piece from Mintay MT-WIS-05, and placed this across the top of the page. 

With Blackberry Swirl Bazzill Basics Cardstock, I cut a strip 1" x 12" , placing this under the red dotty paper. I place a piece of the music note side of Music Garden MT-MUS-04, 2" x 6.5" and placed this centrally over the red and above the black strip. From the same paper but with the pink side up, I added a piece 2" x 10" over the others. (Please see the photos for placements.) 

I placed a strip of  Hibiscus Bazzill 2" x 6", vertically onto the page so it will be to the right of the photos. My photos were placed onto another piece of the music paper, this is 5" x 6.5", and it was place onto the centre of the layout.

Using Smooth White, Hibiscus, Blackberry Swirl and Sunshine Yellow Bazzill, and a selection of Spellbinder, Simple Stories, Say Cheese, Classic Mouse Die Sets, I set about making my own embellishments and title: Alphabet cut in twice to make a shadow, Steamboat Willie Duo to make Minnie and Flags & Banners for the pinwheels. Red buttons were added to the centre of the pinwheels. 

I attached some of the embellishments with glue and others with 3D foam pads.

My journalling was written below the title. Finally, I scattered some black gems in small clusters around the page. 

New Home Gift - So Berry Sweet - My daughter loves strawberries and anything decorated with them - so when she moved into her new home, I made her this strawberry hamper with card and gift tag.

I started this layout with the Woodland Secrets paper - MT-WIS-04. I tore an irregular piece from each side of the paper in different places. I backfilled these areas with scraps of the gingham side of the Farm Life Floral paper. 

With the remains of the Woodland Secrets MT-WIS-05 paper I cut a piece 10" x 6", and distressed the edges. This was placed in the centre of the layout.

I mounted the photos onto scraps of Music Garden MT-MUS-04 and Hibiscus Bazzill. The photos were then arranged onto the Woodlands Secrets paper. 

I cut the title from Avocardo Bazzill using a Peartree Cutfile 'So Berry Sweet'. I filled this using scraps of papers and cardstock from the kit. The title was mounted onto the layout with 3D foam pads.

The kit contains a selection of 49 and Market - Nature's Haven Wildflowers Laser Cuts, and I added to these with my own pack of the same. These were used to build up clusters, around each of the torn parts of the layout. Some of the elements were raised up with 3D foam pads.

From the kit I added a Little Birdie Flower and the Little Birdie butterfly. I added the date and subtitle with the P13 Till We Meet Again alpha sheet. I cut the pink twine into 5 pieces, rolled them up, and tucked them into various places around the page.
