Retro Summer - Ephemera mini album

Hello again, I am back again with another project using my new favourite Simple Stories Retro Summer.  This collection is a mix of vintage seaside signs and gorgeous ice cream themes.

I started with the Retro Sign Bits and knew immediately I had to do something with these gorgeous pieces of ephemera.  This pack consists of 19 cardstock die cut ephemera signs of varied sizes.  I used the larger pieces (approx. 21/2" x 31/2") to make a mini album.

I used a piece of bright pink acetate for the covers and used my crop-o-dile to punch holes into it and to fit some eyelets.  I then used a lot of the stickers from the sticker book, ephemera pieces and even pieces from the element stickers to create the cover.  I've learned to layer items and not to worry that you may not be able to see the whole sticker or whole piece of ephemera.  This has enabled me to create a layered effect on the cover.

The ephemera is blank on the back so I backed the ephemera with papers from the collection to add a little more colour.

On this page I couldn't resist making a shaker, I added white foam tape (which I know you can see) and a piece of acetate to make a simple shaker.  I rather liked the look of the foam tape as it looked a bit like a border and bit like the outside of a swimming pool.

On the reverse I kept with the swimming pool theme and, using tag stickers, added a swimming pool piece of ephemera from the Bits and Pieces pack and made a little flip to add a little interest.

I continued to decorate the pages with trim and ribbon to add some bulk and who doesn't like pom pom trim!

On this page I used two stickers from the sticker book to again create a little flip.  I love finding different uses for the stickers that perhaps wouldn't be my first choice to make it onto a project.

I have loved how this little project turned out and I hope you enjoyed it too.  Ephemera is not always the side dish it can used as the main course too!  Join me next month for Christmas in July!!!

Retro Summer - Ice Cream Truck

Hello again, this month I have the colourful, vibrant and fun Simple Stories Retro Summer to work with.  For my first project all I could think about was the make a little ice cream van that housed some photos.  This collection made this project a piece of cake!

Firstly I used an ice cream truck cut file from Silhouette Studio to make the ice cream truck.  I used Bazzill Mauve Ice for the base, then cut decorative pieces using Two Scoops, I Scream You Scream and Lazy Days.  I admit that I do find assembling these little projects quite fiddly, however this truck came together quickly and easily.

I noticed the cut file didn't seem to include a central section for the ice cream truck which would have meant that I couldn't put my photos inside.  I simply measured and cut a piece of card to fit inside and voila a vehicle to hold photos!  I added some stickers from the sticker book for the "number plates" and lots of nuvo drops to make sprinkles on top of the ice cream.

I then took a strip of tags from the Tag Elements sheet of paper and accordian folded them to create a very simple album to put inside the truck.  I used some stickers from the sticker book to add a little decoration to the photographs but I wanted to keep it quite simple.  I added two tab stickers from the sticker book as a little tab to be able to take the album from the truck.

I hope you enjoyed seeing an alternative way to scrapbook your photos.  I think this would make a lovely gift for someone too.  Join me later this month when I make a mini album from ephmera!

Simple Stories - Summer Lovin' - Fun!

Hi everyone!

Claire here. Hope you had an amazing Bank Holiday weekend celebrating the Queen's Platinum Jubilee! I was certainly glad of the long weekend and even managed to squeeze in some scrapping!

This month, I am creating with the Simple Stories Summer Lovin' collection and oh boy it's a beauty! The collection is full of vibrant colours, fun patterns, florals and ephemera to make documenting your summer stories a breeze.  You can find it in the shop here.

For my first page, I was drawn to the Beatin' The Heat paper - a blue background paper design filled with hosepipes! It immediately made me think of these photos and I knew I wanted to scrap them.

I started with a mixed media background. I applied Distress Oxide Ink in Salty Ocean, Cracked Pistachio and Lucky Clover to my page using a dry stencil brush, adding wet splatters on top.

I created an offset mat as the anchor of my page, using a piece of Typhoon Bazzill Cardstock and Sweet Summertime paper, distressing the edges and layering each piece on foam for extra height.

Next, I positioned my photos into the Chipboard Frames - So colourful and perfect for making a relatively quick layout as it immediately provides a really striking central point of interest.

For the embellishing of this page, I mostly used the Page Pieces. It's a smaller embellishment pack containing 13 pieces including titles and cute ephemera. I positioned the deck chair and paddling pool to the bottom right corner, and also used the tree. I cut the tree in half, placing each piece on either side of my photo frames.

I couldn't resist using the Fun! Foam Sticker for my title, placing it on top of my frame.

I embellished with a small cluster of flowers, fussy cut from the Simply Paradise paper.

As a small extra detail, I also added a tab from the Journal Bits pack to the top of the frame.

To create a bit more depth, I layered flowers from the foam sticker sheet and some fussy cut florals around my frames.

Now, you may remember, my whole inspiration for this page was the hosepipe paper! I opted to fussy cut the hosepipes, using several pieces to create an outer frame around my design.
I absolutely love how that turned out, and it was so much fun to do!

I hope you've found some inspiration in today's blog post. I'll be back in a few weeks time with my second layout.

See you soon!

Carta Bella ~ Summer #2

Hi, it’s Anna back with you today! I’m sharing a second layout using the Carta Bella Summer collection. You can find it all in the shop here

For this layout, I started with the b side of the summer stamps patterned paper and tore it diagonally from one corner to the opposite corner. I adhered this to some white bazzill cardstock.
The remaining corner of the layout was looking a little bare, so I added some stitching around the boarder.

I used a 5x3 photograph, mounted on sunflower bazzill and the b side of summer strawberries.
I cut out three of the large clusters from the summer day floral patterned paper and arranged them around my photographs.

I tucked a few elements from the frames and tags cardstock pieces around the photograph.
I cut out one of the cut apart pieces from the multi journaling cards and tucked it in to the right of my photograph (I journaled after taking the pictures).
For my title, I used a foam sticker from the simple stories simple vintage cottage fields collection. I also added in a few of the hearts and a butterfly from the foam stickers too.

Thanks so much for looking, see you again soon with one more layout from this collection.
