Pretty Little Studio - You Are My Sunshine - Happy Dog

Hello,

It's Claire here today sharing a new layout with the You Are My Sunshine collection from Pretty Little Studio. Check out the collection in full here

For this layout, I'm focusing on those gorgeous scallops from the Be Cheerful paper.

I fussy cut each strip in varying lengths and then chose 8 to use on my page, focusing on the solid colours rather than the bold patterned strips.

I layered these vertically, laying the scallops back to back. I only adhered the straight edge of each strip with glue, meaning I could lightly ruffle the edges to lift the scalloped edge off the page, creating dimension.

Next I mounted my photos on a piece of green card from the Matchmaker Pack. I raised the photos on foam, offsetting them against the scallops.

To embellish, I reached for the stars from the Under the Stars die cuts and scattered these around my photo.

Then, to turn this from a bright summery layout into a warm autumnal layout, I grabbed some leaf dies and cut some leaves from the cardstock in the Matchmaker pack, which matches the colours in the collection perfectly.

I inked the edges of the leaves for extra interest and mixed this in amongst the stars.

To create the title, I grabbed some alphas from my stash and positioned the title along the vertical edge of the scallop.

As a final touch, I added some phrases from the Pet Lovers Word Stickers.

I hope you've enjoyed this blog and have been inspired to create.

Until next month, happy scrapping!

Claire xx

Pinkfresh Studio ~ Spring Vibes #1 🌸

Hi, it’s Anna back on the blog today, hope you’re all having a lovely weekend?

For my next few blog posts I am going to be working with Pinkfresh Studio Spring Vibes. You can find the collection in the shop here

For my first layout with this collection I have created this circle based design.
I began by cutting this ‘Happy Days’ cutfile by Peartree Cutfiles on white bazzill cardstock
I then trimmed down the cardstock, taking about 1cm off each side.
Before using the ‘Moments of Joy’ paper to back my white Bazzil, I cut out a circle from the centre of the paper, and kept it aside to use on my layout. This ensured I was making the most of the paper and not wasting the middle.

I cut a slightly bigger second circle out of the Cherish This paper, and layered it in the centre of my layout along with the circle I’d cut from Moments of Joy

I mounted my photo onto coordinating cardstock from the matchmaker pack and adhered it to the left side of the circles.
I then fussy cut several florals and leaves from the Daisies paper and tucked them in clusters around my photo. I added a few enamel dots to the centres of some of the flowers too.

I used some of the cardstock stickers  to embellish my layout building up clusters around my photo.

I journaled on one of the cardstock stickers and added some ribbon through the tag. Finally, I chose a few wooden embellishments from my stash to add a few finishing touches.

Thanks so much for looking!

See you next month with another layout using this collection.

Happy - Simple Stories - Cozy Days Collection

Hi everyone, Rebecca with you today - November already! I really don't know where this year has gone. Suddenly the dark nights have crept in and the temperature has dropped. I'm finding we are needing an extra layer to go out these days and when we get home we are needing a nice hot chocolate to warm us up! It hasn't stopped us getting out for our fun woodland walks though - and that's what I'm scrapping today.

I'm working with the beautiful 'Cozy Days' collection by Simple Stories this month. It's full of warm autumnal colours and all the things that make us feel warm and fuzzy on a chilly day!

I started this layout by tearing strips from the  'Comfy Cozy' patterned paper. I didn't worry about them being neat or even - I just tore randomly making sure I had a white edge on each strip. I wanted my layout to have lots of texture as the forest floor is full of texture at this time of year and this photo of my son was taken in the forest a few weeks ago. I then stuck the strips to the top section of a sheet of 'Natural' bazzill cardstock from the Matchmaker Pack, making sure they were overlapping slightly.

My photo is matted onto white cardstock and again onto green bazzill basics cardstock from the matchmaker pack. I placed my photo to the right of my layout, with a layer of craft foam behind it to add a bit of dimension.

The Journal Bits & Pieces has lots of larger elements that would be great for adding journalling - but I selected a couple and used them as added layers on my layout. I've used one behind my photo, and another to the left on my photo. I distressed the edges of both before raising them up onto foam pads. I've cut one of the tags from the 'Tags' paper and used that to add a pop of grey to the page. I did this because I knew I was going to use grey alphabet stickers for my title so wanted to make sure that the colour appeared on the layout.

I fussy-cut a number of the gorgeous small leaves from the B-side of the 'Harvest Wishes' patterned paper, and also a couple of adorable forest creatures from the B-side of the 'Comfy Cozy' paper and arranged them around my photo. I added a round cardstock element which says 'Fall' with a grey thread tangle behind it, and fussy-cut the envelope bursting with florals from one of the Jounal Bits & Pieces.

I popped a few acrylic pieces on the page - some leaves and some acorns which match the collection perfectly. I used the Aria Puffy Alphabet Stickers by Bella Blvd for my title. It took me a while to decide on my title but I decided to go with 'Happy' because my son is so happy in the photo - and he was in his element running through the forest and jumping in all the muddy puddles. I then added the word 'together' underneath from the Journal Bits & Pieces and a couple more fussy cut elements.

I finished my layout by adding some journalling and gold paint splatters using gold acrylic paint mixed with a tiny amount of water.

This layout actually came together really quickly considering I didn't really have a plan when I sat down at my desk! If you'd like to watch the process of the layout coming together I have a process video up on my YouTube channel here

I'll be back later in the month with more Cozy Days layouts - if you'd like to see more of the collection then it is now available in the shop.

Take care

Pinkfresh Studio ~ Days of Splendor #1

Hi everyone :) It's Anna back with you today to share my first layout using the gorgeous new collection from Pinkfresh Studio - Days of Splendor - Take a look at the whole collection in the shop here. It has a lovely Autumnal feel about it, so perfect for documenting photos at this time of year.

For my first layout using this collection, I began with some white bazzill as my base. I was then really drawn to the 'My favourite' patterned paper - I loved the look of those frames and knew I wanted to do something with them! But when I looked at the reverse of the paper, I also really wanted to use that too! So I combined the two - I cut across the diagonal strip on the reverse, using the pink and white striped side on my layout. I then cut out a selection of the frames from the other side.

I filled the frames with various bits and bobs including, enamel dots, chipboard flair and fussy cutting with elements from the 'Moments that Matter' and 'Totally Splendid' paper.

I used some leaf cut files by Paige Evans on white bazzill cardstock as well as fussy cutting more leaves from the 'grateful heart' paper.

Thanks so much for looking! Have a great weekend!

Anna
