Papermaze March Kit - Part 2

Lynn here today with the second post using the very pretty March kit from Papermaze. Both these layouts feature photos from my daughter's wedding.

Before we look at the process of making the pages, here is a reminder of what you will find in the kit - please see this post for more details.

 

 

Celebrate Together - The photo for this layout shows 18 month old Scarlett, with her Mum and Dad at the wedding.

I started by building up the background with patterned papers from the kit. I used the stripe side of 'Rainbow' paper left over from a previous layout. This is roughly 8cm wide and cut with a wavy curve along one edge. With 'It's A Girl Floral' I followed the shape of the wave and cut a narrow strip about 3cm wide and used this floral side up, I tucked this up closely to the stripe paper. Then I flipped the 'It's A Girl Floral' paper over and used the pink ombre side to cover the rest of the page.

I flicked some Cosmic Shimmer Mist in Rich Gold and some white Distress Paint over the ombre paper. 

I set the sewing machine to blanket stitch, and with dark green thread, worked around the outside and along the wavy edges of the papers.

I gutted the Rain Forest Bazzill, to made a 2.5cm frame and set this aside for later. Then my photo was mounted onto white card and then Rain Forest. I raised this with foam and arranged it onto the page. 

I created two floral clusters with flowers fussy cut from the scraps of the floral paper. I added Rain Forest Bazzill fronds, cut using Sizzix Tim Holtz, Funky Floral Thinlits die sets. To this I added the two prima flowers from the kit together with a few tiny flowers from my own stash. The curio from the kit was placed on the lower cluster. 

The title is made from a Paige Evans Ephemera word and a die cut word using Blossom Bazzill and Simple Stories Say Cheese 4 Happy Words metal die set.

Finally I added a sprinkling of sequins. 

Welcome - This layout features the three pallets I decorated for my daughter's wedding, Welcoming and giving the day's information to our guests.

I used the 2.5 deep gutted rainforest Bazzill from earlier, as a border for this layout. I trimmed the 'All is Calm' paper to 29cm x 29cm and from the centre I cut a 20cm circle. The pink side was placed over the border and the circle was flipped over and popped back into position to show the floral side.

My photos were trimmed with white and then Rain Forest Bazzill, and arranged onto the page.

I trimmed the diameter of the circle with glittery white zic-rac. Then the title was arranged in place with glittery white foam alpha stickers.

Papermaze January Kit - Part 1

Lynn here today - A big welcome to 2021 and a new Papermaze Kit for January. This month's kit is full of wintery papers and embelishments, however they could be used for other themes too.

Extra Bazzill Pack - Vanilla, Date Swirl, Ivy and Admiral

Winter Solstice - This photo may appear black and white but is infact in full colour. Lack of light during the winter day time in the north of Iceland, the black volcanic beaches and the snow covered black mountains, create a dramatic effect. 

For this layout I used the Date Swirl Bazzill as the base. I cut three banners from the B side of Echo Park's 4" x 4" Journalling Cards paper. These were cut to measure 3" x 10" each, inked with Chipped Sapphire Distress Ink and they were arranged across the Bazzill.

My photo was mounted onto some of the Admiral Bazzill and attached to the left side of the page. I added a bobble trim across the layout under the photo.

The title is a cut file (PearTree Cutfiles), I cut it twice - in white and Admiral Bazzill. I filled the white outlines with the solid blue letters. This was attached to the base of the photo, raised on 3D foam squares.The blue part of the letters had a layer of Glossy Accents to make it shine. The snowflakes had Nuvo Crystal Drops - Silver Moondust to add sparkle.

For the journalling I used my own handwriting, but emphasised a few words with letters cut from white and silver glitter foam, Admiral and White Bazzill. The Sizzix Thinlits I used are Tim Holtz Alphanumeric Label die set.

Finally I added some sequins from the kit and snowflake stickers from my stash. 

Frozen - This photo was taken in 2015 on a trip to Euro Disney. 

I wanted to use both sides of the Snowfall paper, so I made a frame using the foiled script side by gutting the sheet to make a 1" frame. I then flipped the gutted centre (grey with snowflakes) over and distressed the edges of both pieces. Once prepared I glued them to a spare sheet of 12" x 12" scrap paper. 

I used a Carta Bella stencil - Let It Snow and a mix of texture paste mixed and ultra fine white glitter to create snow on the background. This was set aside to dry.

I backed the large photo with some silver paper from my stash.

I cut a variety of snowflakes using the Cricut from White Bazzill and some scraps of vellum in white and aqua. Some of these were inked with Tumbled Glass Distress Ink. The title was cut in four layers using Bazzill cardstock and the Cricut.

With some white ribbon and a selection of fibres tied across the layout, I set about applying the photo, title and the snowflakes to the page.

There is a subtle sparkle added by dusting the lettering and snowflakes with some Cosmic Shimmer Shimmer Shaker powders.

The layout was embellished with a variety of gems from my stash and some Nuvo Crystal Drops.

Bear Hugs ........ Prima Capri

Hello again!

It's Anita here today and I have got a layout to share with you today using some Prima papers from their Capri Collection. Designed by Frank Garcia, this beautiful range was inspired by the magic and beauty of travel and the elegance of vintage flair. It's full of inspiring travel quotes, beautiful florals, and textured patterns and has delightful holographic foil designs scattered throughout the pages.

I decided to not follow the travel theme however with my layout and hopefully this will also show how versatile the range is.

So I decided to scrap these gorgeous hugging bears, a gift I gave my hubby earlier this year! He loves bears....I love hugs.....perfect combo!
The layout is based on a sheet of cardstock, which was gutted and the excess piece was used to mat the photo and also create some of the flower layers. The picture below shows some of the delicate gold holographic foiling that appears on the sheets in varying degrees. Its very pretty and captures the light beautifully.

I used a sheet of  Capri Carolina for the background and also chopped up a sheet of  Grotto Bianco and Arco Naturale. Brown acrylic paint was gently swiped around all the edges of the panels and the page and I also gave a few squirts and splats of Cosmic Shimmer Mist across the page  in Ancient Copper and another colour I have, but the label has come off so I apologise I have no idea which colour it is!

I wasn't sure initially how to embellish my page and thought it might be nice for a change to get out some of my older dies that I haven't used for a long time.

 After having a good rummage I decided on using my Tim Holtz Tattered Floral Bigz die which is an old favourite of mine and also a Sizzix Flourish and Nouveau alphabet dies for the title.

The flowers were cut using 2 different plain cardstock sheets and also some were cut from a sheet of Arco Naturale 
I layered them up, mixing the designs. By curling the edges up in different ways you can easily change the design of the flowers. This does however create quite a depth to the flowers and lots of scrappers prefer to not have such 'lumpy' layouts. These die cuts can also be left flat and be layered...still very pretty and then they sit a bit wider on the page.
I also die cut some flourishes, gave them a little spray misting and added them in below the flowers.                                                                                    

I added some sparkly cabouchons to the centre of the flowers and a sprinkling of pretty sparkly cabouchons and flat backed crystals were scattered about the page to finish it off ( I do so love a bit of sparkle!!)

Its actually made a nice change to scrap just an object rather than a person for a change....and also use a themed collection for a different theme than it was designed for. It really is a gorgeous collection.

Why not pop along to the SHOP and have a cuppa and a good look round. There are always lots of New Products and lots and lots of other goodies to be found within the site....and we all deserve a treat now and again eh ;)

Furlough Fun......Stamperia Face art

Hello again!

It's Anita here to finish off the month and see May out! This year is passing ridiculously fast already isn't it!
My layout today is about our eldest daughter and the fact that whilst being furloughed from work she wanted something to do and became a Consultant for Body Shop at Home. Initially it was just for something to keep her occupied and help fill her time. I don't think she expected to love it so much, fall in love with the products and enjoy promoting them and selling to others. She has made a whole network of new friends at the same time and is having an absolute ball. She has also introduced our younger daughter to it and she has also become a Consultant too ( I can see another layout in the pipeline!)

I based the layout on a sheet of Stamperia called Face Art and I used the reverse side as I liked the repetitive lacy pattern. Before anything else, I gently sponged around the edge of the photographs with some ivory paint to soften the edges.

I like the texture of corrugated card and thought it would work well on this page, so I tore a strip to lay across the page and dabbed some ivory paint in patches and also some random dribbles of Cosmic Shimmer mists that I dragged across it.

From a sheet of Dream Writings I cut a few panels and words to scatter about the page, some
                             tucked in and others were raised on foam pads to add dimension.

I printed out some journaling strips on the printer and swiped the edges with some Antique copper mist to highlight.

Below shows the mix of Cosmic Shimmer Mists, Stickles and Liquid Pearls I used across the layout.

Aswell as dropping blobs of Shimmer mists in various places, I also used it to drag along the edges of the photos, around some of the sayings panels and also on the 2 Prima Capri Amalfi flowers. When it dried the mica glistened beautifully and really highlighted the edges.

I used the Liquid Pearls and Stickles to create circles of dots, using various lids and glasses as stencils to dot round. I like how the Liquid Pearls stay like raised little domes and once again add a little dimension, whereas the Stickles dries flatter.

I finished by adding lots of bi-colour pearls in various sizes in clusters about the page. Amazingly these arrived through the post on the very morning I was making this layout...and the colour match was perfect!

So there it is, my last page for May. I wonder what June will bring for us all. Hopefully some safer days and we will see a bit more of a return to some sort of normality. Thank goodness as crafters we all have plenty to keep us occupied and gives us a means of escape from everything else eh!

If you feel the need to treat yourself to some new goodies there are always lots and lots of lovely new products arriving in the SHOP, along with a vast selection of great products and monthly kits that are always popular......I believe the popular saying at the moment is Be Kind..... that's a great policy to have.... so why not start by being kind to yourself, you deserve a treat!!

Little Poppet .... Stamperia Spring Botanic.

Anita here with you today,

I have a new layout to share using some papers from the detailed Spring Botanic range by Stamperia, featuring floral themes, garden insects and vintage ephemera.

I have been waiting a  few years to scrap this photo of my gorgeous niece, taken on a day that we went to visit some poppy fields on a day out. The beautiful sheet of Poppy and Bird paper was perfect for it, so I backed it onto a sheet of pale green card stock and then inked gently round the entire edge with a gold and then a coppery ink pad. I roughed up the edges of the paper to give a distressed look.

Although the sheet is really lovely I wanted to change the look of it slightly so I part misted and then also drizzled 2 different colors of Cosmic Shimmer mist , Tarnished Gold and Ancient Copper across and down the page.

From the sheet of Yellow Alpine Poppy I cut a few of the panels out, inked the edges and popped them partly behind the photo ( which I had matted in the same pale green card).

I had some Dusty Attic Wordplay chipboard pieces to work with, so chose a suitable word and inked it up gently and added to the right hand sight of the photo and did the same with a tiny chipboard lock and key.

I also added some pearls, a metal filigree and a faceted flat back crystal from the Prima Say it in Crystals range before finishing the layout with a strip of cotton lace and a title made using some copper chipboard alphabet letters from my stash.

Zella Teal.........from Prima

Hello There, it's Anita with you today for my first post of 2018 and I would like to wish you a very Happy New Year!

I am chuffed to bits to have been able to work with this stunning new collection from Prima, Zella Teal. Its a gorgeous colour palette of beautiful blues and aqua's...... a sprinkling of  browns and some truly gorgeous holographic features that are dazzling when they capture the light.

The papers are all double sided......and that is where the problem lies.....both sides ARE GORGEOUS!!   Which to choose???  Buy 2 of each sheet....problem solved ;)

I decided to use a photo from 2010....a family holiday in Buckinghamshire. We visited Windsor for the day and after a lovely walk around we went on a boat trip down the Thames. This photo is one of my eldest daughter's favourites and I felt the Zella Teal papers were just right for it.

 

I based the page on a sheet of Live Loudly, which has a beautiful spray of flowers in 2 opposite corners.

I cut a couple of posies from a sheet of Zella Teal, including the gorgeous holographic leaves and accents . They really glow when they catch the light. I raised these up on foam pads to create dimension

 
I normally square cut the photo mats, but I wanted a softer edge this time so I tore the cardstock mat, leaving a feathery edge. I also used a couple of different Cosmic Shimmer Mists on the page, squirting large drops, creating a pool of ink and then blowing it out in different directions.

I also used a small 6 x 6 inch stencil I had in my stash ( not sure of make or design) and spread some Sparkle Medium through it. This stays raised when it is dry and adds some texture and dimension to the page.

I finished off my page by adding a few random half pearls and gems here and there across the layout and adding some paper blossoms and also some butterflies that I had printed off the internet onto cardstock.

I think this collection will be high on my list of favourites.....I will definately be needing some more!!

My Heart is Full....Kaisercraft Wildflowers pt 2

Hello again, it's Anita and today I am here with my final post for May ( How DID we get to the end of May already this year??)
I would like to apologise for the low quality of the photo's, due to camera issues I have had to use my phone for this post. And for some reason the layout looks lopsided and crooked in places in the pics...I promise it really isn't though ;)

Not sure if you have seen the delightful Wildflower Collection by Kaisercraft yet or not, but if you haven't, do yourself a favour and pop over to the shop. It's really beautiful and such a pleasure to work with, with its delicate palette of colour and soft watercolour designs....what's not to like?

I used the reverse side of a sheet of Vines for my layout, which although very pretty as it was, I decided I couldn't just leave it alone!

So I used a 12 x 12 Stencil and some Texture paste and created a little bit of dimension. I then dribbled and splattered some Cosmic Shimmer Mists in various areas and blew through a straw to create runs of gentle colour (some of which drizzled into the texture paste).

I used a couple of aqua toned small doilies to mat the photo of my youngest daughter when she was a cheeky wee nipper! I then made a cluster of paper blossoms and leaves and added a sprinkle of sequins and crystals.

I absolutely LOVE using sequins on my layouts, I think they are one of my favourite embellishments. I like to liberally sprinkle them about, but i also love to pile a huge cluster on sometimes with a good size dollop of glue! So for this page I made an oversized photo corner and generously piled them up!

I cut a couple of over sized flowers out from a sheet of In Bloom  and embellished the stamens with some AB crystals which sparkle and capture the light beautifully.

The sheet of Wings is covered with multi-coloured butterflies and I cut out a couple that blended in well with the page.

I finished the page by adding a quote cut from a sheet of Gathered 
and sprinkling a few more sequins and crystals .....and then I made myself stop ha ha!

I really enjoyed creating this layout, I feel like my creative mojo may well be coming back to me again....well I hope so anyway! Enjoy whats left of May and I will see you again in June.
