September Papermaze Kit - Part 2

Lynn here today, back with the second pair of layouts using the Papermaze September Kit. The travel destination themed papers inspired me to stick with my continental theme from before, and create two more Parisian layouts featuring the artwork of the Metro station kiosks.

Before looking at how the layouts were made, here is a reminder of what you will find in the kit. For full details, please see earlier Blog post PART 1.

Metropolitan - This layout shows a photo of the entrance to the Art Nouveau style metro entrance designed by Hector Gumard. I wanted to pick out the colour and style of the cast iron kiosk to the Rome Station and so I used embossing enamel, and a font and to create the title.

To make this page I started by gutting the sheet of Ciao Bella - The Sound of Summer collection - Coastal Wood. Then I trimmed the Natural Bazzill down to 28cm x 28cm and inked the edges with Gathered twigs Distress Ink (I treated all the cut edges of the layout with the same ink), this was placed over the wood frame.

From the sheet of
Simple Stories - Simple Vintage Coastal collection - Paradise Found I fussy cut the palm tree and flowers and set them aside. Then from the rest of the sheet I punched two rows of Daisy fans using the Martha Stewart deep border punch. Then I cut three rows of fans from the Quartz Bazzill and two rows from the Mocha Divine Bazzill. These were trimmed to different lengths and arranged on the page. I divided the washi tape into three pieces and added two of them to the page between rows of punched Bazzill (saving the last piece of washi tape for the next page).

I typed my journalling and printed it out, then mounted it and the photo onto the pink map side of the Paradise Found paper. I arrange these onto the page together with the palm tree and flowers. and glued them in place, the photo and journalling were glued flat and the tree and flowers were mounted with 3D foam tape.

Next the title - I chose an Art Nouveau style font and adjusted the size of the letters so they were larger at the beginning and end and faded to smaller in the centre. I used some of the Mocha Divine Bazzill to cut the title, then embossed the letters with Stampendous Frantage Aged Teal Embossing Enamel. I arranged the letters across the top of the layout.

I embellished the page with some large flat-backed pearls and some pink gems. I also used the two thought tokens, tied with some of the twine from the kit and placed at them base of the tree.

Palais Royal - Kiosque des Noctambules - For this page, I chose a photo of the Palace Colette entrance to the Palaise Royal Station where we alighted for the
Muśee de Louvre.  This amazing structure designed by Jean-Michel Othaniel is made of blown glass beads threaded onto an aluminum structure. It is called 'The Kiosk of the Night Walkers' and has two cupolas - one representing day, the other night.

First I gutted the Blue Bazzill to make a frame 2.5cm deep. Over this I mounted the
Bo Bunny - Boulevard collection - De Versailles paper trimmed to 29cm x 29cm, print side up. I distressed the edges and inked them with Gathered Twigs Distress Ink. (the same ink was used to ink all the paper and card edges for this layout.) A piece 22cm x 17cm was gutted from the De Versailles paper and saved for later (for cutting position, see photo and gut under trimmed Blue Bazzill).

I cut remaining Blue Bazzill to measure 26cm x 21cm and trimmed the two long edges with a border punch (I used a Martha Stewart punch). This was placed over the gap on the paper. I flipped the piece of De Versailles paper harlequin side up and attached this over the trimmed Blue Bazzill.

I used some scraps of Stonehenge Bazzill and cut a 15.5cm scalloped circle and two scalloped strips 28cm x 3cm. I punched holes along the strips and laced them together with some cream seam binding ribbon. This was attached down the right side of the page with 3D foam tape. The scalloped circle was decorated with a 13.5 cm circle of
Ciao Bella - The Sound of Summer collection - Coastal Wood paper, music side up. The whole scalloped circle was mounted over the scalloped strips 9cm down from the top of the page.

I mounted the photo onto a scrap of the Coastal Wood paper and this was placed onto the left of the layout, again I used 3D foam tape.

To represent the day cupola I used red and yellow gems in a line above and below the photo on the harlequin points of the De Versailles paper. I used blue and aqua gems on the scallops to represent the night cupola.

For the title I used Pinkfresh Puffy Studio Puffy Alpha Stickers - Joyful Day. The subtitle was created with Pinkfresh Studio Mini Puffy Alpha Stickers - Everyday Musings and Just a Little Lovely.

I typed the journalling and mounted it onto Blue Bazzill, then I attached it to the circle.
I used the blue flower from the kit, with a few fronds punched from scraps of patterned paper using a Martha Stewart punch.

Finally I used the last piece of washi tape and ran this along the bottom of the layout.

That's all for the September kit, I will be back with October's kit soon.
Thanks for looking.

Living on the Edge........ Ciao Bella

Hi There

It's Anita here with you today and I have a layout to share using the last of my Ciao Bella Sound of Autumn papers.
I have had an absolute blast with this page and I have let loose with everything grungy, inky, sparkly and sticky! And to top it all the photos are not even loved ones of my family or friends....oh no....it's just a lowly little snail who was minding his own business in our back garden!!

I only used 2 sheets of paper for this page, for the backing sheet I used the reverse side of a sheet of  'All at Once Summer Collapsed into Fall'
And for the front page I used the reverse side of a sheet of 'The Sound Of Autumn'
I cut a random and uneven wavy edge all the way round the outside edge of the sheet and used a Distress Stain in Brushed Corduroy that I dragged all around the edges of the paper.

I also used it to dab large random splats across the page and then let loose with various Tattered Angels Glimmer Mists using Olive Vine, Coffee Shop and Walnut Gold.
I sprayed them randomly and also into small puddles, then I tipped the paper to create drizzles down the page.

In my DT kit there was a Creative Expressions Mini Stencil, it was the Shabby Harlequin design and I used this combined with some Tattered Angels Glimmer Glam ink in Expresso Bean that I dabbed through the stencil using some sponge.

I also sprinkled lots of Gold UTEE in patches and heated from underneath to melt it.
After matting the 2 photos on cardstock I used gilding flakes around the edge and also in patches on some blossoms to make them co-ordinate.

I cut the title using the Big Shot and some Sizzlets in mixed fonts and then after sticking them on the layout I decided to use Ranger Stickles in Unicorn over the top of them.....it reminded me of the sparkly snail trails you see after they have climbed a wall!!

I added a metal buckle, some lace and a small wooden pennant.

And finished the whole page with a generous splattering of crystals, Dew Drops and blobs of Distress Stickles and Liquid Pearls in various colours.

I have really enjoyed getting messy with this page....and even though the photos were not of anything special or meaningful I very much appreciated the creative process involved. Sometimes its just nice to let loose a little.

Wishing you a super scrappy happy weekend!
Warmest wishes

The Pumpkin Patch ...... Ciao Bella 'The Sound of Autumn

Hi There

It's Anita with you today and I have been lucky enough to work with some glorious papers from Ciao Bella and their stunning 'The Sound of Autumn' collection.
Autumn is my absolute favourite time of year! I love the crispness in the air, changing of the leaves , the earthy scent and the gorgeous rich colours everywhere All the best of this is depicted in this paper collection and more besides..

I had this large photo of my youngest daughter taken back in 2014 at our local Pumpkin Patch and I am so glad I hadn't scrapped it before now. These papers are perfect for it and literally do all the work for you.

I based the layout on a sheet of 'The Sound of Autumn' and I gutted the calendar sheets from the centre of the page to use as an embellishment on the photo. I used gilding flakes all around the edge of the photo to create a soft metallic mat and i fussy cut around the cartwheel and popped the photo in slightly behind it.

I added some cotton lace trim under the bottom of the photo and then layered the calendar pages and some fabric leaves together and held them in place with some antique copper brads and a pumpkin clip

I added a few wooden buttons, cork washer, paper flowers and some garden twine.

and I cut out the copper book plate, added brads and raised it on foam pads to add dimension and make it look a little more real.

The book plate and toadstools were cut from a sheet of Autumn Cards
I cut a long slice along near the base of the layout, popped a long scrap of paper behind it and gently rolled back the edges to create a long torn section and then I used garden twine to over sew along the section just to finish the page off.

I really think this has become one of my favourite collections for a long time and its been a real pleasure to create with.
You can see all the latest Ciao Bella papers here

Don't forget there are lots of lovely new goodies in the shop and you can see them all here
and still lots of crafty bargains in the Summer Sale too!

Happy Scrapping!

'The Sound Of Autumn' a couple of cards...Ciao Bella

Hi There

It's Anita here with you today and just for a change I have made a couple of cards to share with you. I have used the stunning new collection from Ciao Bella, The Sound of Autumn

Autumn is my most favourite season of all. I absolutely LOVE the colours and how they change, the gorgeous scent in the air and the golden haze of the sun and how it lights the trees.
I was delighted to see this gorgeous new selection of papers and as I wanted to make a birthday card for a lovely friend who also loves Autumn, I just knew that this was the perfect opportunity.

Both cards were based on ivory coloured 6" x 6" card blanks and each element was matted on gold mirri board ( something I very rarely use, however I felt it worked well with these papers)

I used some Stampendous Frantage Embossing Enamel in Gold and lightly sprinkled some loose onto a couple of areas. I then heated from underneath until the granules melted and turned to liquid gold ( it takes longer than heating normally from above, however normally you would use an embossing ink to hold the powder in place where as this is loose and would instantly blow away)

It gives a nice random effect this way and just leaves little scattered sprinkles. I chose some different panels and elements from different sheets, mounted them on mirri board and layered them up. Some were raised on foam pads to create dimension and I added a gold glittery doily in between the layers.
The card was finished by adding some gems and bow made from raw taffeta.

The 2nd card was made the same way just with different elements, ribbons and trim. And again I used the same technique with the Stampendous Frantage Embossing Enamel except this time I used Silver aswell as the Gold

Between the 2 cards I used these sheets of papers :

The Sound of Autumn - Autumn Cards
The Sound of Autumn - Autumn Tags
The Sound of Autumn - All at Once Summer Collapsed into Fall

Ciao Bella have created an amazing selection of papers and you can see the stock carried in the shop HERE

At the moment the SUMMER SALE is till on, so why not pop over and have a good look and grab a bargain before the sale finishes.

Happy Crafting!
Warmest Wishes

September Papermaze Kit

Hello, Lynn here today with part one of the September Papermaze kit. Lots of blues, beige and a little glow of golden yellow. This kit has a mix of bold modern and romantic heritage style papers.
Here are my first two layouts:

Before looking at how the layouts were made, here is a list of what you will receive in the kit.

Patterned papers:
Authentique - Poised - #1 Dress Form
Bo Bunny - Bee-utiful You collection - Charming
Ciao Bella - Broccato Estense - Rinascimento Estense
Kaisercraft - Journey collection - Globe Trotter

Pink Paislee -Indigo & Ivy - #02
Stamperia - Blue Land - Flower

Bazzill Cardstock - Twig and Wildberry Pie

Reverse side of patterned papers
Bazzill Cardstock
Admiral, Candle Glow Medium, Brown and Stonehenge

Embellishments
1/3 sheet of Tim Holtz clippings, 1x kraft tag, 6 wooden buttons, 3 paper flowers, 12" lace, 2 Dusty Attic chipboard pieces, strip of Doodlebug enamel dots, strip of pearls, Tim Holtz metal butterfly.

Daring Duo
This layout shows a photo taken at my daughter's wedding in July. It features my two great nieces, climbing a tree in their wedding finery!

This layout was inspired by a Page Maps Sketch from July 2019.

I started off with a sheet of scrap paper 12" x 12" on which to mount the cut down papers and card. I cut the Stonehenge Bazzill into a strip 12" x 2.5" to place along the top and a piece 12" x 3.5" to place across the bottom. Then I machine stitched in navy all around the page about 1cm in from the edges.

Making sure the stripes and the script run horizontally, I cut the Globe Trotter paper as follows:
Cut off and keep the manufacturer's strip.
Script side piece measuring 12" wide x 7" deep
Strip side 5" wide x 12" deep

I stuck the stripe paper in place (Avoiding getting adhesive near the edges to allow for stitching and tucking elements under later.) - about 1.5" in from the left. I stitched around the edges. Then I placed the script paper across the centre to cover the scrap paper gap. This is about 2" down from the top, again I stitched around the edges.

I tore a sheet of lined paper from a spiral bound notebook, and trimmed it to 4.5" wide x 5.5" deep and stuck this on the left side of the layout, over the script paper. I mounted my photos onto the Candle Glow Medium Bazzill, making a very narrow border to make them stand out from the navy paper. These were stuck side by side to the right of the lined paper.

Then with the quote from the manufacturer's strip, I divided this up and placed the words in a row down the right side of the lined paper. Then I added my journalling to the left of the lined paper.

Using the Tim Holtz Sizzix Thinlits Crochet die set, picking the large and small die of the same lacy design, I cut my lace from Bazzill. The smaller die and Admiral Bazzill and the larger die from Stonehenge Bazzill. I added pieces of the Admiral lace wither side of the stripe paper, and the Stonehenge lace along the bottom of the lined paper and photos.

I added the pearls from the kit, adding a few smaller pearls from my stash.

Finally I cut my title from more of the Admiral Bazzill, using a Tim Holtz Bigz XL Handmade Alpha die.

Notre Dame
This layout shows two images from our Paris trip in 2004.

To start I gutted the
Wildberry Pie Bazzill, creating a frame 1" wide all the way around.
I inked all the edges with Chipped Sapphire Distress ink.

Onto this I placed the Ciao Bella paper, please note this paper is 12" x 12", but the measurement includes the manufacturer's strip on one side. I tore around the edges of this paper and the resulting piece is about 11" x 11".

To make the central panel, I tore the lace area from the Stamperia paper to make a panel 11" x 2.5", then I added narrow strips torn and left over from both papers
and attached these either side of the wider strip. I wanted to show a variety of different designs from the papers. The whole panel was attached about 3.5" in from the right side of the edge of the layout. I trimmed the right side of this panel with the cotton lace from the kit.

I placed my photos where I was planning to stick them later, so I could arrange the other elements. I fussy cut the flowers and butterflies from the Stamperia paper and placed them onto the layout.

From the remains of the patterned paper I die cut some Wildflower Stems using Sizzix Thinlits dies. I also cut some Vintage Lace edges to trim the top and bottom of the panel. I used a Sizzix Decorative Sizzlits Die. Then all this was stuck in place with the addition of the three paper flowers from the kit.

I used some Scrapiniec Die Cut Decorative Chipboard pieces from the shop to add to the page - a circular one to highlight the lamps on the photo, and others top and bottom of the panel and one in each corner.

My title was cut from scraps using the Tonic Studios Windsor Alphabet dies for 'Notre Dame' and Pink Fresh - Indigo Hills, mini puffy alpha stickers for 'Paris'.

Finally I added some Stickles to the flower centres and butterfly wings, and some Nuvo Crystal Drops dots around the leaves.

That's all for today, I will be back with another pair of layouts from this kit in about two weeks.

Thanks for looking.
