Mintay Paper - Summer Highlands - Chamonix Mont-Blanc

Hello, Karen here. I’m back with another layout featuring the gorgeous Summer Highlands collection from Mintay Papers. For this layout, I decided to challenge myself by working with one of the busy, full page background prints. To make it work without overwhelming the page, I used a technique I've used before framing a specific section of the pattern with a large circle cut from white cardstock.

To get started, I took a 12x12 sheet of smooth white cardstock and cut a large, 10-inch circle out of the centre. I trimmed down the outer edges of the cardstock slightly and layered it directly over paper #1. This allowed the pattern to peek through both the central window and around the outer border.

Next, I added some machine stitching around the edge of the cardstock using white thread for a bit of texture and also added a few splatters of watered-down Peeled Paint Distress Oxide.

Sitting on my desk was a scribbled circle cut file I’d cut from some woodgrain cardstock for a previous project but never used. I held it up to the page and couldn't believe it fit inside the circular hole perfectly and as I liked the look I glued it down!

 

I matted four small photos onto a single piece of white cardstock to resemble a photo booth strip. Then, I layered this strip onto some woodgrain paper from the 6x8 Add-On Paper Pad and placed it on the right side of the layout, overlapping the circle frame.

Beneath the circle, I used some die-cut letters to spell out the location where the photos were taken.....

..... and included the date at the top of the layout.

Next, I grabbed paper #9 and fussy cut some of the images  to use as embellishments.

I popped up the fussy-cut images using 3D foam  to add some dimension to the layout.

As a final touch, I scattered a few green enamel dots here and there.

Bella Blvd ~ Documented #3 🌷

Hi everyone, it’s Anna here with you today. I have one last layout to share with you before I move on to Christmas! 

So I thought I’d use up my leftover supplies from Bella Blvd Documented which you can find in the shop here. 

My last full sheet of patterned paper was ‘captured’ which I used as my base. 

I had some tags and 3x4 cut apart elements left on the ‘daily details’ paper so I decided to create a grid design with them. Those that know my scrapbooking style will know that I love a grid layout! 

I mounted my photos on to the 3x4 cut apart elements and arranged them in a grid on some white cardstock. I then adhered this to my background paper and added a boarder sticker from the Doohickey Cardstock Stickers.

I added two tags at the top left and right side of the grid and the added my title. I used some of the Alpha stickers from the ‘Doohickey Cardstock Stickers’ and also some Doodlebug Designs Abigail Alpha stickers in Beetle Black - but there’s lots of colour options here.

I added some stickers from the ‘Doohickey Cardstock Stickers’ as well as some twine to the tags, which completed my layout.

Simple Stories ~ Happy Travels ✈️ #2

Hi everyone, it’s Anna back with you today. I’m sharing my second layout using Simple Stories Happy Travels. 

You can find this collection in the shop here. 

To create this layout, I started with the b side of ‘Here & Now’ as my base. 

I then cut out a large circle from some white bazzill cardstock and a thinner boarder circle ‘Scenic Route’ 

I mounted my photo on to some coordinating cardstock from the matchmaker pack and double mounted on to the b side of journal elements. 

I cut out a journaling card from the journal elements and adhered it to the right of my photo. 

I then added various stickers from the element stickers and placed them in a cluster across the page. 

I fussy cut some clouds from ‘scenic route’ and adhered them to the top right of the circle.

Fabulous Fall Vibes - Simple Stories - Simple Vintage Autumn Breeze Collection

Hi everyone,

It’s Rebecca here on the blog today! I’m feeling a bit torn about September… On one hand, I’m excited for autumn and all its beautiful colours. But on the other, I’m really sad to see summer go! One thing that always helps ease the transition is seeing the gorgeous new autumn collections arriving in the shop—and this month, I’ve been working with Simple Stories “Simple Vintage Autumn Breeze.” You can find the full collection in the shop here. I always look forward to the Simple Vintage lines as we head into autumn, and this one definitely didn’t disappoint!

 

To start my layout, I tore strips from two different patterned papers. I chose a subtle, neutral paper for the top layer, backed with a more colourful one for contrast. Down the left-hand side of the page, I arranged a cascade of Polaroid-style frames, which I fussy-cut from the Crisp Days patterned paper.

I hollowed out the centre of one frame and backed it with my photo, adding foam behind it for dimension. Placing it centrally among the other frames helped it stand out. I also tucked a larger piece of ephemera from the Ephemera pack behind the framed photo to add some extra detail.

 

For my title, I chose the word ‘Fabulous’ from the Foam Stickers, and placed it to the right of my photo—raised up on foam pads for added depth. Underneath, I added a smaller foam sticker to extend the title. I love combining fonts like this—it adds visual interest and a playful feel to the page.

With the larger elements in place, I started embellishing. I fussy-cut some tags from the Tag Elements paper, punched metal eyelets through each, and arranged them around the layout for extra texture and charm.

 

Next, I turned to the Floral Bits & Pieces. I selected a few floral clusters and layered them around the layout, including a sticker from the Elements Stickers to complete the cluster in the top-right corner.

At this point, I needed to decide on a background. I’d been building everything on Premium White Cardstock, but it felt a bit too stark—it just wasn’t making the elements pop. The great thing about adhering your layout pieces together first is that you can lift them off and try different backgrounds underneath!

After testing several patterned papers, I fell in love with the bold orange Journal Elements paper (B side). It really brought out all the other colours on the page. It was a bit of a daring choice for me, but I’m so glad I went for it!

To finish off the layout, I added a couple of tabs from the Bits & Pieces and some mini heart foam stickers. I love how these tiny, last-minute touches pull everything together without overwhelming the page.

Echo Park ~Born to Travel 🧭 #2

Hi! 

It’s Anna back with you today and I’m sharing my second layout using one of Echo Park’s latest collections Born to Travel, which you can find in the shop here.

For this layout I have used a globe cutfile, which is by Peartree Cutfiles. 

I began with a sheet of 12x12 Bazzill white. I then trimmed ‘Flying Airplanes’ down by roughly an inch on each side. I adhered it just slightly off centre on my cardstock. 

I added a couple of stitches to each side of the patterned paper to add some extra detail. 

I cut the cutfile out on the b side of ‘Born to Travel Elements’ and I backed it using the b side of ‘Tourist Licence Plates’ for the land sections and with coordinating bazzill cardstock from the matchmaker pack for the sea section. 

I mounted my photo on to the b side of  ‘Soaring Hot Air Balloons’ and then layered some element stickers around my photo.

I created a hidden journaling element as there was a lot to say about this day out…

So I used a cut apart Travel Jounaling Card and added a tab to the top. I added the wording ‘pull’ for the reader to spot the hidden element.

Forever - 49 and Market - Krafty Garden Collection

Hi everyone, it's Rebecca with you and today I am sharing my first layout created using the beautiful Krafty Garden collection from 49 and Market. It's another stunning collection designed by Katie Pertiet, so it's full of the stunning florals and foliage I love so much! You can find the collection in the shop here.

I selected the Vintage Symphony patterned paper for my background - the 49 and Market papers are perfect for backgrounds because they have subtle details such as inking and faux stitching that help to elevate my layouts. To my background, I added some torn strips of patterned papers. I selected the gorgeous blue striped paper because the shade of blue matched my photo perfectly. I wanted my photo to be central on the page, and to help draw the eye to it, I've housed it in one of the Stacked Frames. 

Behind my photo, I've layered some of the Ephemera Bits, selecting larger pieces with some stamped text on them. I love to have lots of layers on my layouts as it helps to create depth and gives the eye so much to look at.

Either side of my photo, I've embellished using pieces from the Chipboard Set and Laser Cut Out Elements. I've built on these clusters using some tags and the gorgeous picket fence, which runs through the centre of my photo just like the fence in my photo. 

To add further detailing to my background, I've used the exciting new 49 and Market and Sizzix stamps. Using a Stazon Ink Pad in Dove Grey, I've stamped some leaves in two corners of my central design, and on the opposite outer corners of the background. On top of this, I've applied some of the Blendable Rub Ons.

Adventure - Cocoa Vanilla Studio - Great Escape

Hi everyone!

It's Rebecca with you today sharing my first layout for March. It feels like forever since I created a proper 'boyish' layout, so this month I've chosen to work with the new Great Escape collection from Cocoa Vanilla Studio. You can always count on CVS to release a cracking 'boy' collection! You can find it in the shop here.

As soon as I saw the grey woodgrain paper (the B side of 'Starry Night'), I was in love! It's a really lovely paper, and it's not too busy so it's perfect for a background! I cut small sections out of two of the edges and after distressing them, backed them with patterned papers from the collection.

Next, I die cut 2 large stars from the same 2 patterned papers (Happy Camper and Journey) and placed them central on the page. On top of these, I added my circular photo. I knew I wanted this layout to be quite minimalistic, so I kept everything clustered tightly in the centre of the page. 

Underneath the photo, I added 2 strips of patterned papers with fishtails cut into each end. I offset these slightly so that they weren't too 'blocky' and on top of these I added one of the Puffy Title Stickers.

Either side of my photo I added elements from the Die-Cut Ephemera. My photo is of my little boy playing in the village park on holiday, and so I've used the 'Fun Times' signpost, a compass and the words 'wild' and 'roam'. 

Underneath my title, I placed one of the Chipboard Stickers. I love this piece because the shape matches the banners I've created under my photo.

Wanting to extend the design down slightly, I've staggered some phrase stickers.

To finish off the layout, I've arranged lots of the star Puffy Stickers around the central cluster, trying to get an even spread of colours, and doodled a black border around the edge of the background.

Boo to You - Simple Stories - FaBOOlous Collection

Hi everyone, Rebecca back with you today. I'm getting more and more excited as we edge closer to Halloween! Today, I'm sharing another layout created with the FaBOOlous collection from Simple Stories. You can find the full collection in the shop here.

I was really drawn to the Shrieks and Screams patterned paper and wanted to feature it on my layout so I decided to be brave and use it for my background. It's obviously a very busy paper though, so I needed to bring in some white space to work on! I cut a piece of Premium White Cardstock down to about 7 inches wide and then shortened it by tearing along the top and bottom to create some texture. I adhered this to the centre of my page. 

The first thing I got into place was my title - the 'Boo to You' piece from the Chipboard Stickers. I've been wanting to use this piece for ages but haven't been able to make it work on previous layouts, so I got it into place early on today! 

I love this photo of my little boy from last Halloween, and due to the way his body is positioned in the photo, I decided to place it over onto the right hand side of the page so that he is 'looking' across the page towards the centre. I added a layer of dark patterned paper behind my photo to help make it pop against the crisp white background.

I love everything that is included in this collection, so I pulled out all the embellishment packs to see what I wanted to use to embellish. I started with the larger pieces as they obviously take up more space. I positioned the orange moon from the Journal Bits & Pieces in place first, along with some larger pumpkins from the Bits & Pieces. 

Once these were in place, I could clearly see where I had gaps and where I could tuck smaller things in to build up clusters. I've used some of the florals from the Floral Bits & Pieces pack and some phrase stickers from the Cardstock Stickers sheet. Once I had everything in position, I carefully started to adhere it all together, without sticking anything to my background. This is because I wanted to add some light mixed media to the background. 

When it comes to mixed media, sometimes I find it easier to get it on the page first, and then build my layout on top of it. But other times, I build my layout and then think 'ah, maybe I'll add some stencilling' - and this was one of those times! It means everything has to come back off the page, so by trying to stick it all together, it makes it easier as I can just move it off as one piece. 

I've used a stencil from my stash, along with a Distress Ink Pad in 'Black Soot' and added some spider web detailing around my photo and embellishment clusters. I love adding detail to my background in this way - it's subtle, and as there's no water or wet paint involved, it's not at all messy and doesn't require drying time - perfect when you are as impatient as me!

I finished off the layout with the addition of a cluster of bats from the Page Pieces in the top left hand corner.

Sunkissed Memories - 49 and Market - Vintage Artistry Sunburst Collection

Hello all, it's Rebecca with you today sharing my first layout of the month... and what a scorcher it's turning out to be! The perfect weather to share a beachy layout created with 49 and Market's 'Vintage Artistry Sunburst' collection, which you can find in the shop here.

I've created a few layouts with this collection now, and I'm absolutely loving it. For today's layout, I decided to go for a more 'beachy' theme as my little boy is posing by the beach in the photos. I was feeling brave, so reached for a patterned paper for my background - something I almost never do! I loved that the 'Lost Island' paper was colourful, yet still subtle enough to work as a background.

I began by cutting some strips of patterned papers of varying lengths and widths, and layered them in the centre of my page. I then matted my photos onto yellow cardstock and placed them centrally on the strips, slightly overlapping to prevent the layout from becoming too 'blocky'.

For my title, I've selected a die cut from the Ephemera Bits. This pack of embellishments is amazing, and includes 123 die cut pieces. It will last forever! I placed the title overlapping the bottom of my photos.

Once these larger elements were in place, I moved on to embellishing. I started with a few rub ons from the 6x8 rub ons transfer set. I'm a sucker for palm trees on a beachy layout, so naturally reached for these! I added one either side of my photos.

I then added some floral die cuts from the Ephemera Bits and the Tropical Foliage Laser Cut Outs pack. This is another awesome pack of embellishments with 70 pieces in it. Behind these die cuts I've added some pink thread tangles to introduce a bit of texture to the page.

I finished the layout off with some more die cuts, building clusters around the bottom of my photos and above them. Using the die cuts, I've added some pops of black, which I think really creates some drama against all the bright colours.
