I was really surprised this month when I found in my DT kit not only some gorgeous Pink Paislee papers, but also some absolutely fabulous bling swirls! I'm not normally one to use much sparkly stuff on my layouts, but I rose to the challenge and started looking through my photos for something suitable to scrap.
I decided to go for some photos I took earlier this year at my boyfriend's birthday night out. While I know there is a lot of pink in the papers, I don't feel you should only be restricted to girlie subjects when you use this colour, and the bluer tones in the papers made for a perfect match with one of our friends T-shirts!
I layered up some of the papers along with some fuschia pink cardstock - I used decorative scissors to cut scallop edges on some of these to add interest. I wanted the layout to be quite grungy so I used lots of distress ink in two shades of pink and also black to colour the edges of the different layers. I then positioned my photos - this subject was fun and light-hearted, so I offset the photos a little rather than lining them up straight.
Then came the fun bit - embellishment! I peeled the bling swirls off their backing sheet and carefully adhered them in the position I wanted. This can be quite tricky as the swirls are very sticky, but as they come on a transparent backing sheet it is quite easy to work out the position you want them in first before peeling them off.
I then added my title using a combination of Autumn Leaves Freestyle stamped letters, Pink Paislee alphas and some Making Memories tiny alphas. The arrows are grungeboard - I left these untouched apart from a thin black outline and pink brad - and I mounted them using foam squares. I thought they looked a little like clock hands, so I stamped a clock on a transparency and added this too - I thought it fitted in well with the 'passing of time' theme of a birthday layout. The little heart was hand-drawn.
With my leftover supplies, I made a simple note card, using bling brads to add a touch of luxury to a simple flower.
