Journal page

Hi Carol with you today - have you seen the lovely new media products which have been added to the online shop lately?  The products, all from Ranger are fabulous and so easy to use, the lovely little pots of texture paste and collage mediums are the ideal size to try before you buy the larger pots… and the little spatula, FAB!! take a look…

So, using the various products I've made this:-

The base is my large art journal which I added some of the texture paste in opaque matte, using the spatula, thro' a mini Tando stencil (the mini stencils are in the shop give Vanessa or Julie a ring).  Once dry I added some acrylic paint to the base, I then added some stamping and doodling with paint. Using a sequin waste stencil and some gold texture paste another layer was added to my page.   Whilst this was all drying I took a piece of white cardstock and using the new distress crayons I created a masterboard, I then stamped the paperartsy flowers, cut them out and gave them a coating of the distress collage medium in crazing… a piece of bling was added to the centre… three tando mini butterflies were also painted, and glazed, and added to the page.  Some doodling and washi tape was added to finish off the page.

Time to Hang ..... and Let's Go Ape Together!

Hi There, it's Anita here again and my post today is using up my last bits of Kaisercraft Provincial and also the other embellishments I had for April.

I had a lovely chipboard clock sent in my kit and I want to do something with it rather than just stick it onto one of the layouts.

So, I used some Metallic Gilding Wax in gold, and rubbed it in patches around the front of the clock face. I then chose a photo of my 2 girls that fitted nicely in the centre aperture of the clock and glued them in.
The flowers were originally a pale cream and so I used a shimmer mist spray to  make them the colour I really wanted for this project. I also had a mix of cream lace pieces, so I popped a couple of lengths into a little bowl of water and squeezed some Distress Stain into it, stirred and let them soak for about half an hour. I only wanted a pale colour, but if you want a deeper colour you can add more ink or even dab directly onto the lace for more intensity.

I finished up by adding buttons, flat backed pearls, punched out leaves and a metal word plaque.
I am hanging this little project on the wall, but you could still easily add it to a layout if you wanted to.

I have also created another layout, Go Ape Together! I thought this was going to be a difficult paper to use due to the heavy hedge type background, however I found these photos from a family trip to Bedgebury Forest a couple of summers ago and thought they worked well.

I used an edge punch on the top and bottom of the layout and then backed it onto a sheet of green cardstock. I took some Platinum Acrylic paint and splattered some huge blobs across the page and also painted some chipboard letters in the same colour for the title.

I matted the photographs on hessian, which I frayed the edges on. I used the strips I pulled off to place under the word APE for a little more texture.

I then finished the layout off with a couple of tags, some sequins and some Foam Thickers for the title.

My Craft Space - A Video

Hello everyone

I thought I would try something a little different today and do a video of my craft space.  I love watching other people's craft space videos and getting ideas from them.  I'm afraid I don't have the wonderful craft rooms that seem to be shown on Pinterest, I have a small craft space in a corner of our bedroom but I love it!  I hope you enjoy the video in all its wobbly glory.

Please leave links in the comments to your craft spaces as I love seeing how other people craft. Thanks for looking.

Bo Bunny Soirée, Two Layouts and a Little Crochet

Hello, Lynn here with you today.

When I saw the new Soirée papers from Bo Bunny I knew they would be ideal for a few more heritage layouts, and so with some papers and embellishments from the collection I set about making layouts about sisters Lottie and Winnie, who were my great aunts.

Winifred:

For the first layout - I cut a 9" circle from 'Exquisit' paper, then punched holes 1 cm in from the edge and 1 cm apart all around the edge. For this I used a Crop-A-Dile. Then with crochet cotton and a 2.5 crochet hook, I created the crocheted border.

I used a sheet of 'Linens' for the background stuck my circle to the centre. With a small piece of Kraft Cardstock I mounted my photo with a very fine border.

With Distress Inks, water, paint brush, water colour paper and Sizzix Sizzlets Decorative Strip - Tattered Flower Garland, I cut a selection of flowers painted them with the inks and (once dry) arranged them on the layout. I added some buttons from Bo Bunny Soirée Buttons with some flat-backed pearls in the centres. The three daisies at the top were made by folding the daisy shapes in half and inking the petal ends delicately. The centres of these were made by cutting petals from a different flower, inking and then adding Crystal Stickles

The butterflies are from Dusty Attic 'Flutterbies #3', painted with Antique Linen Distress Paint and glossed with Glossy Accents

My title was cut using Sizzix Sizzlets Decorative Strip - Wanted Alphabet, then embossed with Stampendous Frantage Embossing Enamel - Shabby White.

Once everything is in position and stuck in place, I scattered a few of the tiny die cut flowers, more flat-backed pearls and some dots of Opal White Liquid Pearls.

Lottie:

For the second layout, many of the products used are the same as above. I was inspired to
create this layout by the work of Heather Jacob.

I started by gutting a piece of 12" x 12" Kraft Bazzill (leaving a frame of 1") I cut a photo mat for this layout and the previous one from the centre.

Then I trimmed a sheet of BoBunny Soirée 'Tranquil' paper to 11.5" x 11.5", and with a Mini Crafter's Workshop Template Stencil - Art Is and some Victorian Velvet Distress Ink I added some script to the page. With the sewing machine and pink thread I made a rough circle shape by stitching round four times, I also stitched a few wavy lines at the top right and across the bottom.

The edges of the paper, the photo and the mat were all heavily distressed and inked with Hickory Smoke Distress Ink. Once the mounted photo was in place I made and added three crocheted flowers and some blossoms from my stash. The centres of the crocheted flowers were decorated and attached to the page with Bo Bunny Soirée Brads. I added paper leaves punched (Martha Stewart) from scraps of 'Exquisite' paper from the first layout. These were inked and Crystal Stickles glitter glue was added to make them sparkle.

The banners were made by cutting scraps from 'Exquisit' & 'Linens' papers, and the packaging for the buttons. I also used a page of print from an old book. These were distressed in the same way as before and arranged on the page over a string made from a length of the crochet cotton, tied in a bow at the right side. Then I took some banner flags from the pack of brads and added these on top of the larger flags. A large metal and enamel brad was added to the bottom right of the photo.

Lastly I made my title using the same alphabet die as before, this time I inked it and added sparkle with more Crystal Stickles.

I have had fun making these pages, it was great experimenting with crochet ideas for scrapbook pages. I have made flowers before but had not tried working out how to do the border.

Thanks for looking

'Jumping Jack' with Kaisercraft

Hi, It's Anna here today to show you the next page layout that I have made using the Kaisercraft Coastal Escape Collection.
I used the shoreline patterned paper as my base, which went really well with some pictures that I had of my son jumping in the sea. I used a few elements from the sticker sheet, along with a doilie and some pearls.

Have a great day!

paperartsy, kay carley stamps

I have been working with the beautiful Kay Carley stamps, and created a card and a wall hanging
For the wall hanging I have used some canvas, hessian, watercolours, micro nail, beads, natural buttons and my trusty sewing machine.
I started by cutting a piece of canvas to size and went about deciding which stamps I would use from both sets and created a mask with some post it notes,  I used Claudine Hellmuth canvas, but if you are using shop bought canvas it may need priming with gesso.
Once I stamped my images I coloured them with watercolours to give  a subtle effect. I also cut down a household sponge to do my background with watered down blue and green watercolours. Used my sewing machine to attach the hessian and the tabs on the top. small nail micro beads added to the flowers.

here is a close up of the wall hanging

The card is made in the same way using watercolour card stock and I made a surround with white and purple card stock

Really pleased how this turned out as it made a lovely Birthday gift and card for my Mum.

An early crop

This month's crop is a week early, due to the unavailability of the village hall - it doesn't seem two minutes since the last one, but we do have a lovely crop kit for you.  It's been designed by Karen Barker, inspired  by agnieszabe and lescrapananat.  There's lots of stamping, and some machine stitching if you fancy!

As usual the crop costs £4, with homemade cakes, tea & coffee etc, there's a 10% discount on anything you buy in the shop and the kit is an optional extra!
