Ma Cherie

Hello, Lynn here today to round off the month with a layout using the lovely Kaisercraft Ma Cherie collection and some Chipboard pieces. The photograph shows my Grandfather as Best Man to his Brother Frank, when he married Maud in 1913.

First of all I gutted a sheet of Beauty, to make a 1" frame 12"x12". I used this with the black patterned side up. Then I cut down a sheet of Glamour to 11"x11" and distressed the edges, tearing into the paper about 2" in from the left of the bottom edge, folding back the edges. All the edges were inked with Black Soot Distress Ink.

I stuck the pink paper to the black, leaving a narrow black border. I tore a piece about 2"x2" from the remainder of the Beauty paper, and tucked it under the tear with the floral side showing.

Using some Golden Gel Medium - Regular Matt Gel, mixed with a tiny amount of black mica powder to add colour and luster, I worked this through a Crafter's Workshop Stencil - Complicated Heart. I used the row of hearts near the left side of the layout and a single heart towards the bottom right. These were left to dry while preparing the chipboard pieces.

The Dusty Attic Chipboard Embellishments - Scroll #2 and Fancy Flourish #2 were painted with Ranger Distress Acrylic Paint - Black Soot and left to dry. They were then dry brushed lightly with Picket Fence. The Blue Fern Chipboard Embellishment - from the Romantic Page Dangles set, was painted with various colours to pick out metal work and the ribbon. I added a little gilding wax to the padlock and chain. A little Stickles was painted onto the outer heart and the inner heart was treated with some Clear Rock Candy Crackle Paint.

Once everything was dry the photo and the chipboard embellishments were stuck to the page. Arrange the Ribbon Roses at the base of the photo and other blossoms around the base and up the sides of the photo. I decorated the blossoms and the chipboard with pearls and gems. Some silver micro beads were sprinkled on the chipboard swirl.

I cut a butterfly from the Exquisite paper and curled the wings with the scissor blade, adding some Stickles to the body and antenna made of flower stamen.

I tucked a little lace into the the tear at the bottom of the page and added some more flower stamen and a single blossom.

To finish off, my title was cut from the black side of the Exquisite paper, using a Tim Holtz Alterations Thinlets Sizzix dies - 'Handwritten Love'

Thanks for looking.

Simple Stories Life in Colour

Hi Tracee with you today to share a layout I created using the Simple Stories Life in Colour collection.

I loved the Good Life sheet with its bold dots but I didn't want the whole of my background to be spotty so I cut 5" off, and then layered up my papers and embellishments to be half on half off of the dots.

I used the "Life" chipboard title from the pack and although there was a small stamp handle in the pack also I wanted a larger image so I fussy cut the one that was on the 3 x 4 journaling card sheet.

I like to use staples to hold some of my papers together, and they also add a bit of texture to your page.

I fussy cut the labels from another of the 3 x 4 journaling card sheet and added more stickers from the pack, later I will add the date here (just need to ask my daughter when this was)

I hope you enjoyed looking at my page

Echo Park - Little Man. Part 2

Hi, it's Anna back with you today to show you my second layout this month using the Echo Park Little Man collection. I used the very cool 'plaid' patterned paper and fussy cut around the road. I also cut out lots of the little cars, houses, trees etc from the same piece of paper and added them around the road once I had adhered it to my cardstock.

I then added in my photos and journalling to tell the story. Mini pictures fitted in between the road well but you could also used a larger picture over the top of the road instead.

Thank you for looking, have a great day!

kaisercraft treasured moments collection part 1

I had the pleasure of using the new collection by kasiercraft, treasured moments. So I am afraid this post is a bit photo heavy but I thought
I'd show you what I have done in stages.
So firstly I started with the die cut frame and cut out the centre with a craft knife.
I knew I wanted to use the frame as a focal point but I found the gold colour too bright for me. So I wondered how I was going to give it more of a patina appearance, I began by giving the frame a coat of clear gesso, this primes the page so you can still see the design of the frame when adding paint or ink, plus it stops the paper from buckling whilst being saturated. The paint used was from the distress line by Tim holtz., I used mowed lawn, broken china, tarnished brass and a small amount of antique linen. I squidged my first 3 colours on to a craft mat and added water, took an ordinary household sponged ad dabbed randomly onto the frame, I carried on till I had the desired effect I was looking for, let that dry and added a small amount of watered down  antique linen.

the next stage was to crate my pin board that I wanted behind the frame. I measured my aperture and cut a piece of grey board to size. Covered this in a sheet of felt and the two sheets of burlap fabric, and stitched around the edge with the sewing machine. I then stitched lines on the burlap to make diamond shapes, to give a quilted appearance.
Added brads to give a more textured effect. The photo below shows you how the burlap looks behind the frame
Using the sticker sheet I cut out the roses that would go on my page along with the stunning leaves.  Cut out the butterflies from the recall patterned paper, and some small tag shapes for the yellow side of the same sheet, which I backed onto Kraft card stock, and then attached these tags to some canvas tags I had in my own stash. In the bottom corner I created a cluster using the roses, some chipboard, a small crochet flower made by a good friend, prima wooden clock face, and lace effect words. My photos were attached to my tags and then the tags were pinned in to the pin board. Tim holtz giggle ticket, key hole plate, and  tando chipboard fern leaf, added to the page. Finally added some brown distress ink to my frame

Hope you like the page and it inspired you to use fabric and paint to a layout

New DT Member - Anita MacDonald

Hello There, I am Anita and I am thrilled to be the newest member to be invited onto the Papermaze Design Team.

I have been crafting in various forms for about 30 years including glass painting, decorating goose, quails and ostrich eggs , making wooden country style  angels, Santa’s and plaques and have really enjoyed playing with paper and sparkly things  for just over 14 years after discovering scrapping through a party plan company.

I am married to Dale and we have 2 lovely daughters who have always been my main subject for scrapping! I have always loved crafting in one form or another and love photos too, so scrapping ticks all the boxes for me! I don't necessarily scrap 100% acid free,  if I see something I like that is not conventional scrapping stash I will still use it and I love to "throw it all on".

My pages are anything but flat and I love to have lots of texture and interest on them.  I also find that I have a problem leaving pages *clean*, so you will often find my layouts with inky splats, distressed edges and not much empty space on them!

Scrapping for me is not just a creative outlet but has proven to be a wonderful social pastime too and I have met and made many friends over the years, some of which have become very close to my heart and I love meeting up with some of them at a local monthly crop .

I am looking forward to being part of the Design Team and seeing the various styles that we all have.

Warmest wishes
Anita xx
