Kaisercraft - Factory 42 - Part 2

Hi! Lynn here today - with my second post using the versitile Factory 42 collection from Kaisercraft. My first post used just the 6.5" x 6.5" Paper Pad, this time I have made a layout and used some 12" x 12" paper and some stickers, together with more from the paper pad (details below).

This photo of my Dad was taken in his darkroom developing photographs of Mum. Probably late in the 1950's. Not a brilliant photograph but well worth preserving this memory in my scrapbook. I can remember this room from my early years, and in 1968 it was turned into a bedroom for my baby brother!

The paper I chose for the base of this layout is called Machine, and I used the reverse side, with the bluish-grey hezagon pattern. I mounted the photo onto a another image the same but slightly larger. The two photos were mounted onto some gold matt cardstock.

I used a sheet of paper from the 6.5" x 6.5" paper pad to display the photos as this was grey in colour and had some gogs along the sides.

Using Sizzix Thinlits, Tim Holtz, Alterations, Gearhead dies I cut a lot of cogs - I used cardstock and all 22 dies in the set twice! Then all the diecuts were heat embossed with a selection of embossing powders and enamels in metalic colours. This meant I had plenty to select from and more to use on another occasion. I used the large corner dies made up of many cogs in to opposite corners of the paper pad paper.

Two large kraft Tags (Ranger Inkssentials #8), were tucked behind the mounted photo.  I did a little doodling and inked the egdes of these first. I also used them for a little journalling.

As photography was my theme I used some Kaisercraft acetate filmstrips from the Keepsake collection.

 Other items used are:
Twine
Distress Inks in various colours
The Sticker Sheet from the Kaisercraft Factory 42 collection
Metal Key embellishments from my stash.

Papermaze have put together a Bazzill Plain Matchmaker pack of five sheets of cardstock in co-ordinating colours to go with this collection.

This collection also works well with several other Kaisercraft collections:
Barber Shoppe
Just Landed
Base Coat
&
Antique Bazaar

I will be back with some male cards using the paper pad next month.
Thanks for looking

Using Scrapbook Supplies in your Planner

Hello all,

I'm back on the blog again today, and this time I thought I'd share how I use scrapbook supplies to decorate my planner pages.

A few weeks ago I used my design team goodies (currently the French Flea Market collection), and I snapped some photos before I ruined it with all my scribbly notes!

I mainly used the stickers from the 12x12 elements sheet, layering the lace effect sticker at the bottom, and creating embellishment clusters throughout. I added some washi from my own personal stash, however everything else you see on these pages comes from the Flea Market Collection!

I love my current planner set-up, however when the week really gets going I soon run out of space for lists. To combat this, I took one of the 3x4 cards from the cut-apart sheet, rounded the corners and punched it into my planner. It's the perfect spot for notes!

I hope you enjoyed seeing how I use scrapbook supplies to decorate my planner pages! Maybe it's inspired you to do the same?

There goes my Hero ......Chesterville By Blue Fern Studios

Hello, it's Anita with you today and I thought I would try something different with my latest piece for the DT.

I am working with some of the new Chesterville Collection from Blue Fern Studios....it's a rather lovely masculine, grungy collection and it makes a really nice change from the floral and pretty paper ranges that are more often about..

I am a huge fan of the rock band The Foo Fighters and I am particularly fond of the lead singer, Dave Grohl....a hugely talented man who writes a lot of the bands songs and music.....and I just really have a *thing* for him! It also made a change to scrap a 'non family' layout

I planned using a standard 6 x 4 photo of him, but wanted also to make a big impact. Years ago I used to print a lot on acetate/transparencies and use on a layout and thought I would try that again for a change. I printed a close up of his face onto an a4 sheet and used it as a background for the layout. I also printed some of the lyrics from one of his songs onto acetate to use.

I had some chipboard edging and used some cosmic shimmer in Black Pearl and some Distress Stickles to grunge it up. I used the same colours to distress the edge of the photo, which I layered over part of the acetate.

I poured some blobs of Cosmic Shimmer Inks and let it run down the layout and also dabbed some Distress Stains in various areas. I then layered up some tickets and a chipboard frame and finished the layout with a metal bookplate and some metal letter embellishments

I really enjoyed making this, its made a nice change to branch out and do something different.

You can see the whole Chesterville Collection here in the shop along with lots of other delightful Blue Fern Studios products.

Happy Scrapping!

Photoplay ~ Summer Bucket List #3

Hi all, it's Anna here today with my third and final post using Photoplay's summer bucket list. I've had such fun with this collection, it's really helped me document my summer.
With summer now definitely over here in the U.K., it's time to share my last summery layout before I move onto something more Autumnal. You can take a look at my first two projects with this collection here and here. This time, I've made a layout using one 6x4 picture and two mini photos which I print from my canon slephy printer. It's to document our time at Legoland this summer, which in my album I have placed alongside a project life layout, as I just had so many photos to use! (This is where mini photos come in really handy for me!)

I used white Zing embossing powder on my chipboard clouds, but any white embossing powder would do the same job.

I made a couple of pinwheels for my layout, I have made a step by step collage (pictured below) to show how I make them. I used a 5x5cm and 6x6cm square, I find these sizes work best, but you could go smaller or bigger depending on your project. I draw a X and then a rough circle around the middle. I then cut along each line up to the circle. Then fold each corner into the middle. the You can rub out pencil marks after this step. Use a brad, button, enamel dot or something similar to secure in the middle.

Supplies Used:
Chipboard Clouds
Embossing Powder
Project Life Journaling card
Doilies
Enamel Dots

Thanks for looking, have a fab weekend of crafting!

Happy Day with Pebbles

Hi Tracee with you today to share a fun page I created using the new Pebbles "Heart of Home" collection.

Another 8 x 8 page to add to my "Debbi & Tracee's Great Adventure album. We visited a little town in MD called Rock Hall a very quaint little town. This is a photo of us on Main Street, the Heart of Home collection was perfect for it!

I used some texture paste and a stencil on my background, I kept it white to give a more subtle effect. The houses on the sticker sheet were perfect to frame my photo with, I also added the little bird and positioned him so that he looks like he is watching us having fun.

I used the From Me to You sheet that has lots of Tags for you to cut apart. I layered them up and added some string to the holes. Some simple punched leaves here and there completed my page. I also used the little triangles that were in between the tags as an extra embellishment for the tags.

I hope you have a Happy Scrappy day and the next time you see me I will be posting from our annual holiday in Wales.
Supplies for this page and all your crafting needs can be found over in the SHOP

Kaisercraft - Factory 42

Hi there - Lynn with you today, to show you what I made when I had the chance to play with a Kaisercraft paper pad from the new, Factory 42 line. It is an excellent collection for making cards and layouts for the special men and boys in your life.

I have many of my larger dies stored on magnetic sheets in plastic storage boxes, having been removed from their original packaging. However I feel the intricate sets of Sizzix Thinlits Alterations dies need a different method of storage. They have many small pieces and would easily become separated and possibly lost if removed from their packaging. The manufacturing packaging consists of strong plastic wallets, and I find it uesful to keep the dies with their images, showing what is inside the set. I was therefore trying to think of a way to store a group of these die sets together.

I
came up with this file which has a box inside and will hold up to seven sets of dies. It will hold my more masculine dies and I plan to make another in the same way for my floral dies using different papers.

Find this paper pad HERE
These paper pads are very versitile as you have two sheets of each design as well as die cuts and foiled papers. In fact the papers in these pads are 6 1/2" square, giving you a little more paper to play with, and thus I was able to make this project without having to join papers.

Back in May this year I made a mini album (cook book), and today's project uses some of the same principles, for joining the chipboard and attaching the magnets (so I won't go over all that again - I will simply add the link here). The chipboard you will need to cut for this project is listed below and shown in the photo.

Front and back pieces (2 the same) - 14.5 cm x 17 cm
Spine - 4.5 cm x 17 cm
Small box front - 6cm x 14 cm
Small box back - 7 cm x 14 cm
Small box sides (2 the same - remember to flip one over so they are a mirror image of one another) - 4 cm wide, height of 6 cm at the front and 7 cm at the pack of piece (see photo)

Small box base - 4 cm x 14 cm

Build the small box and the folder using black duck tape as explained here. The duck tape makes the joints strong and flexible, while giving the edges some water resistance too.

Attach the magnets at this point so they are hidden under the decorative paper see next two photos for positions. For technique used to attach magnets, please see here

The first photo shows position of 4 pairs of magnets to attach back of small box to inside back of folder...

... the second photo shows position of another 2 pairs of magnets to close the folder (left of inside front of folder to right front of small box).

Now for the fun part - decorating the box!

I selected the papers from the pad, then cut them so the measurements were about 0.5 cm smaller than the chipboard. The edges were inked with Distress Inks (weathered wood and gathered twigs).

Here is the inside of the folder ...

... and the outside - for this I used the foiled papers.

For the small box I covered all four sides with the cog paper:

Lastly I used black Bazzill cardstock and papers from the pad, together with several dies to add some embellishments and lettering to the outside of the folder.
I used Thinlits Die Set Gearhead, Bigz Die Pipeline, Sizzlits Decorative Strips - Wanted Alphabet and Typeset Alphabet. I embossed the cogs with several different metalic coloured embossing powders. A little Glossy Accents was added to the water drips.

Now to make the next one - I think they should look good on the shelf in the craft room!
Thanks for looking.

Prima St Tropez

I'm going to be working with the stunning St Tropez collection by prima. Armed with a sheet of patterned paper from the collection (plage de la bouillabaisse) i Coated the plainer grunge side with transparent gesso as i knew that i would be adding inks and  misting. Priming the page allows me to add lots of mixed media with the paper remaining stable.
After priming i used a stencil and molding paste, you should be able to see this in one of the close ups. Once dry i added my inks and just kept layering the colours till i was happy with it. Stamped a splatter image with  vintage photo distress oxides ink pad and then let my background air dry.

Mounted my photo on to french sands patterned paper from the 8x8 paper pad and went about layering with pieces of dusty attic fish net which I've had in my stash for ages, metal cogs, a tag, strips of patterned paper, Tim Holtz film strip, tissue tape and staples. The stamped star image and compass is a free stamp in one of the magazines that thought would work well with the layout.

here are close ups of the page. Hope to create more with this collection as it lends itself to lots of mixed media projects

Summer Sale Scrapping

Hello There, It's Anita with you today.

I wanted to make the most of the end of the summer sunshine and scrap some happy memories from family holidays over the last few years and I thought for a change I would use some older papers rather than the fabulous new collections that are for sale in the shop. And what better than to browse through the fantastic SUMMER SALE that is still on, it's well worth a look and there is a massive selection of manufacturers and collections to choose from.

I absolutely love working with Simple Stories, they bring out so many beautiful collections that are a real pleasure to work with. For these 2 pages I chose some papers from the Summer Vibes collection.

Such pretty, sun kissed summery colours, combined with sand washed woods makes for some easy scrapping.

I really enjoy stamping using bubble wrap, although often I only use one colour of paint.

However, for this page I chose 5 colours of paint to compliment the colours in the papers.

I also added a sprinkling of faceted, dome embellishments in various areas of the layouts

On the 2nd layout I cut out various bits and pieces and layered them in clusters, some raised on foam pads for a little dimension and also added the domed embellishments too

So, now the kids are going back to school why not grab a cuppa and sit and browse through the SUMMER SALE , there are all different themes in there.....and some real bargains....

And let's face it....you deserve a treat!

Til next time, Happy Scrapping

Do you have Cabin Fever too????

Hello, it's Lisa here today with the 'Cabin Fever' collection from Simple Stories.
I wanted to show you today, how you don't have to use this collection just for your camping stories. If camping isn't your thing, you can still love this fun paper line.

My youngest really doesn't like being outside (unless he's playing football).
So I thought I would give this collection a little twist and document how 'outdoorsey' he really is not!

I love the sheets of 4x6 Stickers. The sheet of alphas that come with them are perfect for smaller titles like I have created here.
There's a really good selection of stickers in this pack.

The stickers also work great along side the 'Bits and Pieces' and the 12x12 sticker sheet
I love teaming everything up.

It really is a fun collection and is very versatile.

I highly recommend.

Have fun.

Lisa x
