New layout sketch

Hi everyone! It's Amanda here with the latest layout sketch for you.

I designed the sketch as an 8.5" x 11" page but I changed it up a bit to make it work with a 12" x 12" layout.

I worked with paper from the Fancy Pants Childish Things collection which is up in the shop. The obvious subject matter for these papers is kids, but I decided to make a page about our new puppy, Ruby. I thought then playful colours and designs worked just as well for cheeky puppies as well as cheeky children!

And here is Wendy's take on the sketch...again she changed it up to 12 by 12....

 and a few close ups....

Thanks for popping by, see you soon with a new card sketch!

April kit - 3rd project

Today I am going to show you a different way in using the stamp in the April kit. I  love this little stamps ...  so when I saw this stamp I instantly knew of a different idea of how to use it instead of the ordinary way.

Using this kit I made this card.

On this card I used the stamp to make these really delicate butterflies that you can see...

Here is how I did it.

First I got my supplies together...for this I used the three in one butterfly punch...

I used a light blue to ink up the stamp...

I then punched out the butterflies from this.....and then using the ink I inked around the edges as well....as this is a very delicate punch it needed some definition around the edges...

I also made this really quick card as well...

I used the little number Tando chipboard...which is really easy to colour with some ink or spray with some mist!

Thanks so much for popping in this week and don't forget that you can find all the kits that Papermaze sell here.

Using cotton reels...April kit

In your April kit you will find these two cotton reels.

Wondering what to do with them? Well I made a card with these a little while ago for a post on this blog, but I am going to add it here again just to remind you and give you a little tutorial of how it got put together.

I made this for my mothers birthday as her birthday card and she love it...a really different way to say happy birthday!

So onto how we do it....

You need both of the reel and some paper...

measure the paper so it sits inside the reel edges...

and then cut a strip...

Then add some double sided tape to the ends...as in this one I added three layers...

and then secure one of the ends of the paper to the reel...

after I attach it on, I add another piece of double sided tape to the back ...just to make sure...

and then roll it up...

One of the canvas butterflies would be beautiful to secure this with...

one tip for this type of card....it does roll up tight so only use small stickers or paper to put into the inside of the card as it all has to bend.

So I went ahead and made a reel card with the kit...

Here it is...

Perfect for a really special birthday..
I secured it shut with the twine from the kit...

.and here is what the inside looks like...ready to write on a message...

I have two more quick cards to show you next time. thanks for popping in.

Introducing 'The Scrap Cake' papers...

I have just fallen in love with some new papers Vanessa has in the shop and online from The Scrap Cake! As soon as I saw them I knew they were right up my street, although they are super versatile too. This post will be showcasing the 'One moment In Time' papers, and a second post soon will feature the 'My Private Happiness' and 'The Bright side of Life'

I have created two completely differnt layouts with the 'One Moment In Time' designs. The shades all go perfectly with White or Kraft cardstock.

For this Layout I wanted to mix the pinks and blues, but as the patterns on the papers are light and quite pale, I choose to add shapes with my layers. I used a cuttlebug and some Spellbinders Nestabilities to cut the scalloped circles, a large circle punch and some Technique Tuesday circles for the smaller shapes.

Have you ever wished you'd stamped a background before you stuck your embellishments down? I did here, so I simply took the printed acetate sheet you get in with a clear stamp, and cut the design out from that. I used glossy accents to stick it down and it looks just like you've perfectly stamped your page!

My second page highlights how well these papers can be used for a baby themed page (check out those gorgeous blue eyes!!)
Besides framing the photo, I didn't use the papers as blocks, but instead made all of my embellishments from them. I punched, diecut and fussy cut shapes.

This handmade flower below is made using a Nellie Snellen Floral Punch, which embosses the petals once the are punched to add extra dimension to your flowers.

I dotted Baby Blue Liquid Pearls around to bring out the blue of the frame around the photo.

So there are my first two pages I created using the Scrap Cake papers. Check back later to see some more!
