The "simple stories" pad continues...

so, following on from my post a few weeks ago - I am on a mission to use these stunning Simple Stories - The story of us products in my own way…

So, today…

Us cardmakers spend ages creating cards for special occasions and what to do with those wonderful creations once you've received them?

My niece gets married later in the year and I wanted to do something different for her - so I've made this card:-

I stencilled the heart using Peacock feather distress ink and a Wendy Veechi stencil (Vanessa did have some of these stencils but they never reached the net - give the shop a ring to see if she still has them) - I then cut a swirl  and a bow out of silver paper and attached these to the heart.  The centre piece is from the 6 x 6 paper pad and the two word stickers are from the "bits and pieces" pack.  I have added bling to the centre of the bow and the tips of the swirls.

So, the idea is, that the centre part of the card is temporarily fixed in place and the swirls overlap without being attached - the happy couple insert a favourite photo in its place and mount it:-

into a box frame which has had pins and flowers mounted onto the base and an element from the bits and pieces pack added to the insert. A lovely reminder of the day and a great show piece for a wedding card.

June Cropping

Last Saturday we held our monthly crop in the local village hall, and as usual we had a really good turn-out. I'm sure most only come for Vanessa's homemade cakes, but im sure one or two people actually get some scrapping done! ;-)

Available to buy on the day was the layout kit, and this is what we had...

The kit contents were quite simple, consisting of mostly papers, but the instructions guided the ladies on how to cut and assemble them to look more interesting and give the page depth.

We used a mix of Simple Stories, October Afternoon and Bazzill for this kit, along with some Dusty Attic chipboard, a Kaisercraft stamp and some dripping of Tattered Angels Ink.

If you live locally and would like more info on our monthly crops, please contact us at enquiries@papermaze.co.uk. Everyone is welcome :-)

A Box Frame with Jillibean Soup and Simple Stories

Hello, hope you're all enjoying the sunshine but still managing to fit in some scrapping time too...

This week I have been making a layout using a new jillibean soup placemat which I have put into a box frame to keep on my wall.

I used a sheet of simple stories DIY Boutique underneath the placemat. I printed out my pictures small and trimmed them to fit into the squares as well as some coordinating simple stories paper.

I then added some fun simple stories stickers to fill in the gaps and some enamel dots alongside the words.

May Online Kit

For a little while now the May monthly online kit has been available to buy HERE and it is absolutely gorgeous. This month is a little bit girly, but with a few generic embellishments thrown in too.
So here is a layout I have created using just this kit, and nothing else...

Although there are some beautiful little paper roses included in the kit, I felt the need to fussy cut some larger ones too.

If you haven't seen it yet, here's a picture of what you get. All of this for just £10!

Have you already bought one of our monthly kits? We would love to see what you have created with it! Email us photos at enquiries@papermaze.co.uk

Journal page

As most of my crafty friends know, and if you visit this blog, or my blog, know, I am a bit of a "jack of all trades master of none" when it comes to creating.  I don't stick to one style or one medium and like to experiment with all sorts of media.

When I saw the Simple Stories products I really liked them and wondered how I could incorporate them into my style of crafting.

Armed with Simple Stories - the story of us 6x6 pad and the pack of bits and pieces I had a play and came up with this:-

The page is another one in my journal - the base was another "left over paint from projects page". I added some white paint thro' a stencil….there are currently several stencils out there that have a wide range of elements on them - these are ideal for creating pages like this, or to add onto your scrapbook - just enough to add to your background without dragging out your entire stencil collection.  I then chose my elements from the bits and pieces bag….I was contemplating adding a photograph to the middle, but, decided instead to cut the music background from the 6x6 pad - this pad is full of smaller elements as well as full pages - ideal to add to smaller projects.  I took my selection and then stamped an image onto it….when I cut the element out I left a small dark frame around the outside to give it grounding on my page….the stamped image was coloured with water colour pencils and the edges inked with distress ink.  All elements were outlined with a black pen and small doodled dots with a white centre added….

See my next post for more simple stories ………
