Sightseeing...with the July kit

Today I'm going to share with you the first layout I made using July's kit.  The browns and blues really lend themselves to a masculine layout, and I've used a photo of my husband on a trip to Paris.  I used the reverse of the BoBunny Tapestry paper for my base and gutted the centre so I could use some of the blue side on the layout too.

I really like the hessian in the kit and the texture that it gives - I've used it as a mat behind the photo, and also behind a tear at the top of the page.  I've also unwoven a few strands and tied them in a knot in the centre of the layout.

It's the first time I've used Tim Holtz kraft glassine and I enjoyed experimenting with it.  I embossed it firstly and ran a distress ink pad lightly over the top.

The glassine can also be creased very easily, so I cut out some ivy leaves, inked them and added the veins by folding and creasing.

You can find the July kit here, along with a co-ordinating cardstock pack.  I'll show you a completely different layout using the kit next time!
