P13 Summer Vibes - Happiness, by Meg

Hello and welcome to the blog today! It's Meg here sharing a layout I've created using the P13 collection, Summer Vibes

This collection is so tropical and beachy - honestly just looking at the gorgeous scenery on these pages made me hanker for a Pina Colada with a tiny umbrella! P13 has to be one of the best-value collections out there for bang for your buck with a little fussy cutting to create your own ephemera/journaling cards etc for the price of a single piece of paper. The quality of P13 always amazes me too - the paper has such a lovely thickness to it.

I really wanted to demonstrate how I'd use one of the scenery papers as I know some people find them a bit daunting, but I love how they are pretty much 'complete' and ready to go. These types of papers would sing with just a photo or multiple photos thrown on with minimal embellishments, they're just so standalone beautiful. They take all the work out of creating a background.

With that in mind, I decided to do something a little different with them to show how versatile they can be. I picked out this wavy paper #05 as my page background and I decided to layer a cutfile on top - I picked a circle grid cutfile from Paige Taylor Evans and cut a few of them out. I originally wanted to create a full background using the cutfiles but decided I wanted to see more of the ocean and those beautiful frothy waves, so I just used two in the end and arranged them on the right with a gap in the middle for my photo.

I snipped apart this P13 light chipboard embellishment (just using normal scissors!) so that I could layer it behind my photo - I really liked the added texture and natural wood colour which went well with the beachy summer vibes - and I double matted my photo using white cardstock and this pink cardstock.

I fussy cut some of the leafy botanicals (I particularly liked those spiky leaves!) from Summer Vibes paper #03 and paper #07 and I backed my cutfiles using some light brown cardstock to tie together with the sand in my photo, Summer Vibes paper #02 and Summer Vibes paper #07. The large 'Happiness' sign that acts like a title was also fussy cut from paper #02.

I arranged the chipboard, fussy cut leaves, ice cream and Happiness sign together with my photo in the middle of the cutfiles and started adhering to the page. I finished with a little journaling, some flatback gems, a small charm and some phrase stickers from my stash (although there are phrase stickers from the Summer Vibes collection that match the colours perfectly here)!

Here is my finished layout - I hope you like it and it has inspired you to get fussy cutting with the P13 products.

I'll see you again soon with another layout.

Take care, Meg x
