September Papermaze Kit - Part 2

Hello, Lynn here today, with my second pair of layouts using the lovely Papermaze kit for September. A great kit of papers, cardstock and embellishments, with the option to buy extra matching cardstock.

Both the layouts are of my daughter, roughly 25 years apart! The first as a little girl and the second in her current stage management post.

Before looking at how the layouts are made, here are the details of what is in the kit.

Patterned Papers:
Simple Stories - Simple Vintage Essentials collection - Little Details & Vintage Tidbits
Simple Stories - Trail Mix collection - Campfire Stories
Mintay - Places We Go collection - #04 & #05
Shimelle - Maine Character Energy collection - Face the Sun
Bazzill Basics Cardstock - Pigment & Cinnamon Stick

Reverse side of papers

2 Idea-ology Quote Chip Labels, 3 hardware brads, 1 word tag,1 prima paper flower, 1m grey twine, pinch sequins

Extra Bazzill Cardstock Pack - Stonehenge, Aqua, Beeswax & Rosewood

Document the Details - Catherine sitting surrounded by the abbey ruins, during the rehearsals of the open-air summer production.

I wanted to include both sides of the 'Places We Go #05' I loved the worn boards as well as the florals.

I trimmed 3" off one side of the paper, making sure the remainder left, had the wooden boards running in a horizontal direction. Then I flipped the 3" piece over and rebuilt the paper on a scrap sheet of 12" x 12" paper. Then I created my layout with the floral section to the left of the page.

I found a piece of hessian and cut a narrow strip to cover the join in the papers. I frayed the edges slightly. With scraps of 'Vintage Tidbits' paper left over from the previous layouts, I tore some paper mats for my photo, using both sides of the paper.

I created a selection of layered flowers in different sizes, using Bazzill from the kit (Aqua, Beeswax and Cinnamon Stick). I die cut the petals and leaves using a Tim Holtz, Sizzix Thinlits set - Small Tattered Florals. I arranged the flowers and leaves on the page together with the Prima flower from the kit. The flower centres were made with Nuvo Crystal Drops.

My title was made with Thickers phrases from two different Vicki Boutin sets - Perfect Day and Storyteller. I wrote the journalling onto the wood board under the title.

Further embellishments were added from the kit in the form of a quote chip label, a piece of chipboard metal hardware, and a word tag, which I tied to a length of thread to hang from the flowers.

Life in Photos - Catherine again at the age of 7 years when we visited Woodbrige for the Christmas fair.

This layout stared out much like the previous one, I used both sides of the paper again. This time it was another paper from the same Mintay collection, this time #04. A 4" strip was trimmed off the paper with the bricks running horizontally across the layout. This was stuck across the bottom of the layout and the floral side made up the top of the page.

To mimic the leaded light windows in the old building, I used a cutfile and Black Bazzill to cut this diamond pattern and placed it over the floral area of the layout.

I printed a large photo, and three smaller ones. The large photo was placed centrally over the floral area, and after being mounted on scraps of 'Vintage Tidbits' paper, I arranged the smaller photos across the bricks as the bottom of the page.

My title was made with
Storyteller phrase Thickers. I printed some journalling onto some vellum, and placed the pieces onto the layout.

Finally, I added some cream, cotton lace across the join between papers.

That's all for the September kit, I'll be back with the October kit soon.
Thanks for looking.
Lynn x
