Playing with the August Kit

I always get excited when I see the new kit each month. This months kit on first appearances is quite girly but I have also created a masculine layout with it that I will share later on.
This time I got to play. I'm not a great one for flowers on my layouts but these went together so well that I might start adding some now and then.

It always helps to have a great photo to inspire you, I love this snapshot of my Granddaughter and her cousins walking away into the sun holding hands.
I framed the picture with the large chipboard frame, it had some text on that I covered with some of the MME tiny text stickers from the Collectable collection (that's a mouthful lol)

I then clustered the flowers around one corner of the picture, the wooden flower circles also add another texture to the page. I fussy cut some of the flowers and doilies from the papers and layered them up beneath the main elements.
I splattered a few different colour mists to create a softer background, finally I added the thickers title below the cluster to finish it off.

Don't forget to pick up your kit in the shop HERE

August Cropping

The Summer is already half way over and already its the third weekend in August which can only mean one thing...time for our monthly cropping day in Otley.

Here is the layout that can be created using the optional kit available to buy. It is a revamp of one that has been requested for a while from the shop wall :-)

We've used New Crate Paper, Prima Flowers and some stamping. The die used is new to the shop so you get to try before you buy!

We look forward to seeing you there. If you have any queries about this months crop, please contact Lou at louizabelle@hotmail.co.uk :-)

More from the July kit...

Well, having been stung by a wasp, and had my hand swell up, I haven't done much scrapping this last week, and the second layout I had started from July's kit is still sitting unfinished on my desk!  However, I do have some layouts to show you from one of our crop members, Jacqui.  She's managed 4 layouts from the kit and we're going to show them all!

In the first one, she's cut some of the journaling cards from the Jillibean Soup papers - there are loads to choose from!

I love the days of the week here alongside the stylish stix...

Polaroid frames are really popular at the moment, and there are two in the pack of die cuts.  But this last layout is my favourite - I do like a bit of bunting on a layout!!!

Thank you Jacqui - it's nice to see just how much you can get from one of our kits!!  We still have some available to buy here on the website :)

I Heart Summer!

I heart summer is one of the most recent releases from simple stories. I really love the simple stories collections, they can be used for normal scrapbooking layouts as well as project life. You can find this collection in the shop here.

With all of the great weather that we have had over recent weeks, I have lots of summer photos to scrap. These pictures were taken on one of the first summery days we had this year on a trip to the beach with some friends.

This time I stuck with a traditional scrapbook page, but I shall be having a play with this collection alongside some project life bits very soon.

Using July's kit

I have to say that yellow is not my favourite colour to scrap with, but I did like the look of this month's kit and the combination of colours works well.   For my first layout from July's kit, I started with the grey cardstock and painted through a Tando Creative mask.

There is an amazing number of die-cuts in the kit with a variety of shapes, and two titles - I've used one of them, some arrows, and one or two other bits.  The circles are down the left are cut from one of the papers and stuck down with torn washi tape.

The kit includes two Queen and Co stylish stix - which are a bit like drinking straws!  I've cut one of them up and stuck on top some of the bakers twine to finish the layout off.

July kits are available here on the website.

Thanks for looking!

Project Life Scrapbooking

Have you spotted the new Project Life available in store and online now? Now personally, I am not a 'Project Lifer' but I do get it, and I was absolutely blown away by the amount of product you get in just this mini kit pictured below.
We chose to open the Baby Boy mini kit, and look how many cards you get inside!! 100 in total which includes 20 4 x 6" cards and 80 3 x 4" cards. Each is double sided with a pattern on one side and space for journaling or a title on the other.

We will soon have some posts coming up with actual Project life pages to show you, but like I said, I stick to the usual scrapbooking. However, that does not mean that I couldn't have a play with some of these cards, and this is the layout I came up with...

I added my own usual touches like ink, paint, flowers and metal embellishments, but it was the journaling cards that formed the base for my page.

I took three patterned 3x4 cards and cut them longways into strips. Some of these strips I curved the edges of and my little man sat and inked all the edges for me :-)

I laid these together in a cluster to go under my photo, and gutted the centre out of one as a frame.
The speech bubbles were cut from others and formed my titles.

So there's an original way to use some of those cards. Keep an eye out for more posts with more traditional ways of using them :-)
