Photoplay This Happy Life - Ascott House

Hi there! Karen here, and I'm excited to share a scrapbook layout I created using the lovely new "This Happy Life" collection from Photoplay. This collection is bursting with cheerful, vibrant colours, inspiring phrases, and lovely images – absolutely ideal for documenting all those joyful moments in your life.

My layout is inspired by a layout by Jessica Mikels.

For the base of my layout, I started with a 12x12 sheet of smooth white cardstock. Along the bottom edge, I added layers of patterned paper: first, a 2.5" strip of the "All My Life" paper, topped with a 2" strip of the "This Year" paper.

Using my sewing machine and white thread, I added a border and texture by straight stitching all the way around the edge of the layout.

I printed six 3" square photos and gave each one a double mat. The first layer of each mat is white cardstock, followed by a layer of patterned paper from the collection. For the patterned layers, I used the A & B sides of the "Everyday" paper and the B sides of the "Sweet Hello" and "This Year" papers.

I then arranged the six photos in a 2 x 3 grid across the upper portion of the layout. To add a touch of interest, I tucked small pieces of patterned paper beneath the corners of a couple of the photos.

For the title, which was placed on the layered paper strips at the bottom of the layout, I used my Silhouette machine to cut out words from gold mirror cardstock. To make the title really pop against the patterned papers, I created a white cardstock mat for the gold words. Finally, I added small gold foam letter stickers from my personal collection to complete the title.

To the left of the title, I added a cluster of die-cut flowers and leaves from my stash. These particular die cuts are from a Paige Evans collection, and although they might not now be in stock, you can find similar packs available here that would work equally well for this design.

To complete the layout and tie in the gold of the title, I added a few gold sequins across the layout and the date in the bottom right corner.

Thank you for stopping by today and I hope you feel inspired by my layout.

Echo Park ~ Blossoms and Bees 🐝 #2

Hi everyone, it’s Anna back with you today. I’m sharing my second layout using Echo Park Blossoms and Bees, which you can find in the shop here

For this layout I’ve used the 3x4 journaling cards to create a grid style layout, which is one of my go to scrapbook page designs.

For my background, I used the b side of blossoms and bees. I then selected six of the journaling cards and arranged them in a 3x3 grid.

I mounted photos on to four of the journaling cards and left the remaining two - one to add some journaling to and one to keep as it was.

I then added a few element stickers, including ‘welcome spring’ as my title, some florals, and words.

Thanks so much for looking!

See you again next month with a brand new collection.

Vicki Boutin's Bold & Bright for American Crafts - Magic Moments

Hello, Karen here sharing another layout using Vicki Boutin's Bold & Bright collection

My layout today uses the Picnic Blanket paper and lots of fussy cut elements, phrase Thickers and puffy stickers. The layout is a very clean, graphic, grid design that uses all the colours in the collection.

I started by printing my journalling onto a sheet of 12x12 smooth white cardstock. I wanted the journalling to run round the outside edge of a grid, so I created my journalling on an MSWord document. I drew a 10" square in the centre of the document and then, using WordArt, I added my journalling to the outside edges of the square. Finally I deleted the square, leaving just the words, and printed the journalling on my computer.

Using a 2" square punch I punched 16 squares from the Picnic Blanket paper. The squares were arranged in a 4 x 4 grid and using a black gel pen I drew grid lines between the squares. The paper squares were already printed with faux stitching lines so there was no need for real stitching on this layout.

I double matted my 3x4 photo with green paper and white cardstock and placed this at an angle in the bottom right corner of the layout.

I took the word 'Moments' from the sheet of Puffy Title Thickers  and the word 'Magic' from a sheet of  Paige Evans Adventurous collection Phrase Thickers and added them to the bottom of the layout.

Then came the fun part of embellishing the layout and I choose to embellish tone-on-tone. I added fussy cut butterflies from the Smile Bright Paper to some of the squares. I glued the body of the butterfly to the layout and put 3d foam pads underneath the wings to add some dimension.

The sheet of mini puffy stickers has 101 tiny stickers (butterflies, hearts, stars, dots and words) so some of those were added too.

In my stash I found enamel dots in all the colours and dotted a few of these on each square.

Words were cut from the 3x4 tags sheet of paper and used on some squares.

I trimmed the white card down slightly and matted this onto a sheet of black cardstock leaving a narrow border.

Tiny heart stickers were placed in the corners and then with a black gel pen I drew lines round the outside of the layout.

Thank you for dropping in today. I hope I have given you some inspiration for using the Bold & Bright collection and I will be back again soon with another layout.

Take Care, Karen x x

Echo Park ~ Sunny Days Ahead #1 🏖️

Hello!
It’s Anna back with you today and for the month of August I am working with Echo Park - Sunny Days Ahead. You can find the collection in the shop here.

For this layout I have created one of my favourite style layouts, a grid…

To create this layout, I began with a sheet of white 12x12 bazzill cardstock and the 3x4 journalling cards
I used some Shimmerz Ink Spray to spray onto my white background.

I trimmed down the 3x4 journaling cards and selected 6 in different colours to use and laid them out in a 3x3 grid.

I printed four photos and mounted them on to the journalling cards. I left two as they were, one for my journaling and another for a sentiment.

I added a boarder sticker from the Element Stickers along the bottom of the journalling cards and also dotted several other stickers around my layout.

I added a title ‘Summer Fun’ from the Pebbles Fun in the Sun Puffy Phrase Thickers

Thanks so much for looking!
I’ll be back soon with another layout using this collection.
See you then!

Simple Stories ~ Just Beachy #1 ☀️

Hi, it’s Anna back with you today! This month I’m working with the fabulous, bright and summery ‘Just Beachy’ collection by Simple Stories.
You can find all of the lovely pieces in the collection here

For this layout I’ve used a grid cutfile by Paige Evans. I love to create grid layouts and a grid style cutfile is right up my street too!
The cutfile did have an additional two images on it, but I trimmed those off so that I could get in a couple more pictures! I have so many photos from our Florida holiday, I need to get in as many as I can on my layouts!

I started by printing out the pictures I wanted to use in squares and mounting them to the empty square sections of the cutfile. I then backed the images in the cutfile using patterned paper from the collection as well as coordinating cardstock.

Once my cutfile was complete I adhered it onto bazzill cardstock, which was also in the cardstock matchmaker pack. I am normally a white background kind of girl, but I fancied trying something bolder!

I then added a few pieces from the Bits and Pieces pack dotted on the grid around the photos.

I added a journaling circle from the Pretty Little Studio Good Vibrations Die Cuts, which fitted in the middle of the sun perfectly. I will add my journaling to this space.

Thanks so much for looking!
See you later in the month with another layout using this collection.

American Crafts - Shimelle Main Character Energy #2 🌈

Hi everyone,

It’s September already! This month I’m continuing to work with the bright and bold collection by Shimelle with American Crafts - Main Character Energy. You can find it in the shop here

For this layout, I just had to work with the ‘Ensemble Cast’ paper as I love creating grid layouts! So I created a multi photo page, cutting up the squares from the paper to use on my grid.

I used 12 of the squares and kept some spaces blank, with just my white cardstock showing. I then chose to cover some of the squares as a mount for my photos and I kept some of them to show their sentiments.

To fill in the gaps, I used some stickers from the cardstock stickers. As well as creating a title in one of the blank squares. I used these mini alpha stickers for this, other mini alphas can be seen here

I added a journalling spot and some extra details dotted around the layout using the cardstock stickers

Thanks so much for looking.
See you soon with another layout using this collection.
