July Papermaze Kit - Part 1

Lynn here today, with the pretty pastel July Papermaze Kit. Such a lovely kit with double-sided papers, Bazzill cardstock and a selection of embellishments. I have created my first two layouts using the 49 and Market - 'From The Garden' papers included in the kit.

Bazzill Basics Cardstock

Polly - Mary who was always known as 'Polly', her maiden name was Edwards, and her married name was Pond (Polly Pond). This is one of my husband's relatives, an interesting photo for the detail including her rather large wrist watch. 

The base of this layout is the Twig Bazzill with torn strips of both sides of Wildflower paper, to both sides of the page. I mounted the photo onto another piece cut from the scraps of the Wildflower paper.  

With the title letters cut from some chipboard and the Mintay clock face from the kit, (cut in two pieces), I set about dry embossing everything with copper embossing powder. I also cut the title letters from Nixon Bazzill. The letters were cut using a Tim Holtz - Sizzix Bigz XL Die - Wonderland.  

I created three different sized tags using the Tim Holtz, Sizzix Thinlits - Tag collection die set. I cut these from more of the Wildflower paper. 

I selected some Laser Cut Elements from the 49 and Market - From The Garden collection. This included a wooden hanging sign, which I made into a date plaque - cutting the numbers on my Cricut using Petunia & Nixon Bazzill.

I inked the edges of my cut shapes and elements, using Gathered Twigs Distress ink. I used some green seam binding ribbon to tie at the tops of the tags.

I selected the Uniquely Creative Ticket Washi Tape Stickers from the kit. All the elements, papers photo, tags etc were arranged on the page then help in place with either glue or 3D foam pads. 

Journalling was added to the larger tag. Finally, I placed the Petaloo Flowers and leaf to the top left of the photo. 

Feeding the Ducks - This cute picture of the triplets, was an ideal match for the pretty colours in these papers. The layout is a scrap lift of my own work - a page I made a few weeks ago. (included at the bottom of this post). 

This time, I used the smooth side of the Avalanche Bazzill for the base. I chose the Tim Holtz Layering Stencil THS077, and a selection of Distress Oxide Inks. With brushes I applied colour through the stencil, then lightly spritzed the page with water to allow the ink to wick slightly. I also splattered some of the wet ink over the page. 

I tore pieces from the Foxglove paper, selecting areas from the paper I wanted to feature. I layered these up on the page (see photos), together with pieces cut from the Nixon Bazzill.

The photo was mounted on more of the Foxglove paper. The above was all arranged on the dry background card. I added two doilies, left over from a previous Papermaze kit. 

I created a title on the Cricut, and cut it twice - with Nixon Bazzill and Foxglove paper scraps. These were mounted over one another to create a shadow, and arranged down the centre of the layout. 

The little dragonfly charm was tied to the paper beneath the photo using twine (both from the kit). My journalling was added to a tag, also made from the Foxglove paper. 

I selected the three flag banners from the 49 and Market 'From The Garden' Laser Cut Elements pack, and strung them along the top of the layout. To the right side of the layout, I added one of the Rosie’s Studio Jubilee Wax Seals from the kit and another laser cut element. 

Three clusters of paper flowers were created using blossoms from my stash. Finally, I dotted some Raspberry Pink Nuvo Crystals Drops over the layout.


Here is my original layout, showing my daughter as St Valentine at a flower festival (LARP event). The papers are from my stash and the Simple Stories - Simple Vintage Sand and Sea - Rest & Relax paper.

Wonder - 49 and Market - The Looking Glass Collection

Hi everyone, Rebecca here, sharing my second layout of the month. I’ve absolutely loved designing with 49 and Market’s 'The Looking Glass' collection—it’s incredibly versatile and a joy to work with. You can find the full collection in the shop here. 

The photos featured on this layout were taken at the same time and location as those on my first layout this month, so I’ve kept a similar colour palette. This allows both pages to sit beautifully side by side in an album.

To begin, I selected two of the larger looking glass die cuts from the Wildflower Laser Cuts. I wanted to use the circular elements to frame my photos, so I arranged them centrally on the page, with the handles extending outward toward the corners. Around the handles, I added some of the charming woodland elements from the Laser Cut Elements, including a small cottage, rocks with toadstools, and a tree stump.

I then built up these clusters using the Wildflower Laser Cuts, incorporating both larger floral pieces and smaller accents to add depth and dimension with ease.

In the centre of the page, I added my title—“Wonder”—from the Chipboard Set. I love the impact of a simple one-word title, though these chipboard elements can easily be combined to create longer phrases. I also included an additional chipboard phrase in the lower cluster to help extend the design and create a better sense of flow across the page.

To add more interest to the background, I chose a subtle patterned paper and tore two sections from it. I positioned these in the areas on either side of the looking glass elements that were left unembellished. This not only introduced extra colour and texture but also helped fill some of the empty space.

With all the elements adhered in place, I moved on to adding mixed media. For continuity, I used the same shade of Distress Oxide Ink Pad —'Iced Spruce'—as in my previous layout. It perfectly matches my son’s jacket, making it an ideal choice. I always enjoy pulling colours from my photos into my designs to create a cohesive look.

I diluted the ink slightly and first applied it to a sheet of Premium White Cardstock using a brayer. To soften the effect and avoid any harsh blocks of colour, I also used the packaging technique in selected areas.

March Papermaze Kit - Part 2

Lynn here today, with more layouts from the March Papermaze Kit. Using papers, cardstock and embellishments from the kit, together with items from my own stash, I have two more pages to share with you.

Outdoor Girl - Having seen many layouts created with tags as a main element, I wanted to try this idea. My granddaughter loves to be outside, whatever the weather. Here she is in one of her favourite places to explore - Abbey Wood Ruins.

I started with the sheet of Cottage Floral from the kit, I created a 1" frame by gutting this paper. Then I Trimmed the Willow paper to 11" x 11" and distressed the edges. I inked these edges of this paper and other items used on this layout with Gathered Twigs Distressed Ink. The Willow paper was them mounted over the Cottage Floral frame.

With the Classic Smooth White Bazzill I cut 6 tags, using the Tim Holtz Sizzix Tag Collection Die Set. I arranged these on the layout as shown and stuck them in place leaving the tops free so I could add the ribbon later. 

I arranged the photos onto three of the tags. printing a mini photo to pop behind one of the wooden frames. For the other frame I placed a scrap of the white card behind it and wrote the date in the centre. 

I used the top central tag for my title. This was cut using the Tim Holtz - Sizzix Alphanumeric Bold die set and three colours of Bazzill from a selection of scraps. I layered these up and added them to my tag.  

I embellished the tags with the Prima Cherry Sweet flowers and the Uniquely Creative Bohemian Escape Vellum flowers from the kit. Then I added the prepared wooden frames to two of the tags.  

From a sheet of Carta Bella - Feels Like Home - Element Stickers, I selected a few of the phrases to add to some tags and photos. I scattered some green gems over the page and finally, I tied narrow ribbons between each pair of tags, and tied them into a bow.

Pony Trekking Adventure - Here I am in the 1970's riding on the Isle of Wight, through the woods and along the beach at Seaview.

I started with the Twig Bazzill, a Tim Holtz Layering Stencil THS002, and some Gathered Twigs Distress Oxide Ink. I created some bubbles in two parallel lines, across the page, so they will peep out from the patterned papers.

I tore a strip from the 3 x 4 Journalling Cards paper (floral side up), about 4" x 12", and mounted this over a deeper piece of Floral Frame paper (gingham side up), with about 0.5" showing above and below the floral paper. This was placed across the paper over the stencilling.

My square 70's photo was mounted onto cream card, and then onto mustard card scraps - both from my stash. This was stuck to the layout to the left of centre.

For the title I used a Mintay Chippies Title from the kit. This was coated with some Walnut Stain Embossing Glaze. I placed this to the right of centre at the bottom of the layout. 

I added subtitle details using two Sizzix die sets by Tim Holtz - Alphanumeric Tiny Type - Upper and Lower case. I cut the numbers and letters from more scrap cardstock.

Finally, I used a pack of 49 and Market - Whispering Way - Laser Cut Elements to add farmyard items, animals and for flower pots.

February Papermaze Kit - Part 2

Lynn here today, with two more layouts made with the February Papermaze Kit. With this beautiful collection I made two heritage layouts a few weeks ago. Here I have more, showing two generations of the same family. The first shows sisters Irene and Dorothy, and the second shows three sisters (the mother and aunts of the girls in the first layout). I came across these lovely photos of our family ancestors through Ancestry. I will add details of these ladies on my own blog (should you wish to read about them).

For this 1920's photo, I used the gutted frame of Notes And Things paper, created from making a previous layout. I cut the Forever paper to 10.5" x 10.5", and distressed the edges, before setting over the print frame. I folded over the top left corner of the Forever paper.

Using my Cricut I cut an 8.5" diameter clockface (with roman numerals), from some scrap cardstock. I treated this with copper embossing powder, for the hands I used thick black embossing powder. I cut a circle the same side from Kraft Bazzill, to back the clockface, then attached the hands with a large brad (also embossed black). I placed the clock face to the top right of the layout. 

The photo was attached to the bottom right of the layout, overlapping the clockface.  

With the Cricut I used an Art Deco font, in three layers, using three sheets of Bazzill from the kit (Mocha Divine, Apricot & Beeswax). I built the letters, then with 3D foam pads I arranged them around the clockface. 

I selected flowers and leaves from my stash to arrange in clusters on the page. 

I added the dated with some old typewriter key alphabet stickers from my stash.

Eaton Sisters - The lady in the centre is the mother of the two girls in the layout above. She has the same given names as one of the daughters. 

The background for this layout is the sheet of Starters Paper #5. I used some scraps of Notes And Things paper, to frame the photo. The photo was place centrally onto the paper.

With the Wild Flowers paper, I fussy cut all the flowers. Then I arranged them around the photo. Some flowers were glued to the page directly, and other flowers were raised with 3D foam pads. 

With the Sizzix Thinlits Tag Collection die set, I cut three small tags from Golden Rod Pattern & Solid Sheet. I inked the edges and wrote the name of each sister onto the individual tags. I tied a short piece of brown seam binding ribbon to the top of the tags. These were place among the flowers. 

With one of the 49 and Market Nostalgic Memories chipboard words from the kit, I added a phrase to the bottom right of the layout. I placed a couple of gold enamel dots over the holes at each end of this piece.

I placed the approximated date of the photo in the bottom left corner with some old wood effect Thicker alphabet stickers from my stash. Some old Basic Grey Alphabet stickers were used for the title, I layered two colours together.
