49 and Market - Glimmer and Glee collection - Part 1

Lynn here today with a different collection, this month I'm using 49 and Market's pretty pastel Glimmer & Glee collection. This collection has water colour style images, which are great for documenting parties, birthdays, babies, and garden gatherings. The palette is a clever mix of pretty corals, pinks, yellows, blues and greens. Here are my first two layouts using this collection.

New Baby Boy - This first layout has photos of my great nephew at 7 weeks.

I started with a sheet of Jubilee, which said 'Baby Boy' to me. I chose to have the dark plaid band to the left side of the page. I trimmed my photos to measure 6 x 8cm. I arranged them along the pale plaid pattern band, after matting them onto some pale blue card stock. The mats were inked with Faded Jeans Distress Ink.

I selected some images from the Glimmer & Glee Laser Cut Elements sheets - I used the larger wreath over the photo in the centre of the trio. 

I hung the bear on the swing from the bottom of the wreath and the bear with balloons, flying off from the top right of the wreath. I attached the bears with 3D foam pads.

For my title I used some old foam stamps I have in my craft room, made by Making Memories.
I stamped the title words 'NEW BABY' with Distress Paints. First with Scattered Straw, to create the shadow, then with Faded Jeans for the bolder main colour. Once the paint was dry, I coated the blue letters with a layer of Nuvo Glitter Drops - Gold Coast. A date was added inside the wreath, with card stock letters, die cut using Tim Holtz Alphanumeric 'Label' Thinlits set. 

I added the word 'BOY' to the title with Doodlebug Designs Sunshine card stock Alphabet Stickers - Bumblebee.

More Laser Cut Elements were chosen to add balloons, a bunch floating up from the semicircle printed at the bottom right of the layout, and a single blue balloon to the top left semicircle. 

With some acrylic domes in pastel shades, I scattered multi-coloured dots over the page. Finally, I added an acrylic heart from my stash to the wreath. 

Lazy Sunday Afternoon Here is my granddaughter, all dressed up and visiting her other grandparents for Sunday lunch.

This time I chose the Glimmer and Glee Cheers paper, on the side with two large white areas suitable for photo mats. A difficult decision as I love the other side with the balloons too!
I printed my photos in two different formats and sizes to suit the white areas on the paper. There is a wreath printed onto this sheet - similar to the lase cut one I used on the first page.

Working up from the bottom of the layout, I created a page wide flower trough, by cutting a 2cm  strip from the wooded planks side of Toast paper. I glued this down at either end leaving the length free, allowing me to tuck in the bird table and flowers. 

Then I built up a picture to reflect the garden in the photos. I selected images from the Glimmer & Glee Laser Cut Elements sheets. I stuck the element down under the strip, but raised them up on 3D foam pads above the strip... 

... I started with the bird house near the centre, then the rows of flowers either side of this. In some cases, I added more single flowers overlapping the first layer.

I used Tim Holtz Alphanumeric dies 'Tiny Type - in upper and lower case, to create the date from cardstock, and glued this in place over the paper strip. 

With a selection of butterflies from the Laser Cuts collection, I arranged them in an arc from one photo to the other at the top left of the page. I folded up the wings, glued the bodies to the page and place 3D foam pads under the wings to give them motion. I added two more butterflies in the same way, to the right of the page following the line of the wreath.

My title was created on the Cricut using more of the pale blue card stock and Faded Denim Distress Ink.

Simple Stories - Simple Vintage Sand & Sea - Ahoy There!

 

Lynn back today with the last of my Papermaze DT layouts using The Simple Stories - Simple Vintage Sand and Sea collection. For this one I used more of the red, white and blue elements from the collection.  The photos show my granddaughter playing in the boat at the local playground. 

I started this page with a 12" x 12" sheet of scrap paper, over which I built up my background. The top half of the page is a 6" x 12" piece of Shore is Fun (blue & white dot) paper. Then under this, I placed a 4.5" x 12" (blue & white stripe) Combo Elements paper. The third paper at the bottom is a 1" x 12" piece of Tides and Treasures (wood panel). 

 

I selected two 12" long stickers from the Element Stickers Icon sheet, and placed these where the two papers join at the base of the layout. Over the red & white dot sticker I applied some P13 alphabet stickers for the date.

I used red Bazzill cardstock to mount the photos, then applied them at angles to the left of centre of the layout. Between the photos and to the left I added a piece cut from the elements side of the Combo Elements paper. I trimmed off the flowers, keeping the red & white dot frame and journalling area. I wrote some details here, and added some phrase stickers from the Cardstock Stickers Icons sheet

For the bottom right of the photo, I took a bow journalling spot from the Journaling Bits pack, and the 'waves for days' sticker from the Cardstock Stickers Icons sheet. I wound some red and white Baker's twine around the phrase.  I cut the barcode strip from the Combo Elements paper, and cut the striped area into two pieces, I placed this over the join in papers, either side of the photo.

To the left of the photo, I added three tags from the Journalling Bits pack, adding more twine to the holes, these we attached with 3D foam pads. 

I added a knotted piece of twine to the top left corner of the layout. For the title I cut letters from red and white cardstock, using the Tim Holtz - Sizzix - Alphanumerics Varsity die set.

Simple Stories - Simply Vintage Sand & Sea - Shetland

Lynn here today with another layout using The Simple Stories - Simple Vintage Sand and Sea collection. I have had great fun using the gentler colours from this collection, but I'll be back with layouts using the stronger colours next time!

This layout shows photos from my recent adventures in Shetland. While we were there, filming was taking place for the BBC TV Series 'Shetland', and here are photos of the home of Detective Inspector Jimmy Perez, known as The Lodberrie. 

I selected the sheet of Journal Elements paper, with the sand and sea side up (This sheet was gutted, to give me a 1" deep frame). Then I trimmed Smooth White Bazzill to 11" x 11", and inked the edges with Tea Dye Distress Ink. Then I splattered watered-down Distress Oxide Ink (Tea Dye and Uncharted Mariner), vertically through the centre of the cardstock. Once dry the card was mounted over the frame.

I trimmed the photos and placed them to the right of a 11" x 4" piece of Tides and Treasures paper. Before sticking this to the page, I trimmed the long sides with strips torn from the Enjoy the View paper.

I cut a tag from the Tag Elements paper, and punched a hole in the top. With a length of white seam binding ribbon, and some more watered down inks (colours as above), I dip dyed the ribbon and set it aside to dry. Then the ribbon was looped through the tag and tied in a bow. I added a date using the Tim Holtz Sizzix Alphanumeric die set - Label and scraps of papers already used. I tucked the tag into the top right of the photo band.

Next, I made the title - I used sand paper with a heavy grit, and a Sizzix Bigz xl alphabet die. Once the letters were glued to the layout, I perched a seagull on the letters from the 49 and Market Summer Porch Laser Cut Elements pack. 

From the pack of Journal Bits - I selected a journalling spot, which I placed to the left of the photos, and added my details. I then fussy cut the camera from the and rowing boat from the Summer Porch collection.

From the sheet of Combo Elements paper, I cut the phrases 'high tides + good vibes' and  'sand + sea', placing one above the tag and the other below the row boat.

July Papermaze Kit - Part 1

Lynn here today, with the pretty pastel July Papermaze Kit. Such a lovely kit with double-sided papers, Bazzill cardstock and a selection of embellishments. I have created my first two layouts using the 49 and Market - 'From The Garden' papers included in the kit.

Bazzill Basics Cardstock

Polly - Mary who was always known as 'Polly', her maiden name was Edwards, and her married name was Pond (Polly Pond). This is one of my husband's relatives, an interesting photo for the detail including her rather large wrist watch. 

The base of this layout is the Twig Bazzill with torn strips of both sides of Wildflower paper, to both sides of the page. I mounted the photo onto another piece cut from the scraps of the Wildflower paper.  

With the title letters cut from some chipboard and the Mintay clock face from the kit, (cut in two pieces), I set about dry embossing everything with copper embossing powder. I also cut the title letters from Nixon Bazzill. The letters were cut using a Tim Holtz - Sizzix Bigz XL Die - Wonderland.  

I created three different sized tags using the Tim Holtz, Sizzix Thinlits - Tag collection die set. I cut these from more of the Wildflower paper. 

I selected some Laser Cut Elements from the 49 and Market - From The Garden collection. This included a wooden hanging sign, which I made into a date plaque - cutting the numbers on my Cricut using Petunia & Nixon Bazzill.

I inked the edges of my cut shapes and elements, using Gathered Twigs Distress ink. I used some green seam binding ribbon to tie at the tops of the tags.

I selected the Uniquely Creative Ticket Washi Tape Stickers from the kit. All the elements, papers photo, tags etc were arranged on the page then help in place with either glue or 3D foam pads. 

Journalling was added to the larger tag. Finally, I placed the Petaloo Flowers and leaf to the top left of the photo. 

Feeding the Ducks - This cute picture of the triplets, was an ideal match for the pretty colours in these papers. The layout is a scrap lift of my own work - a page I made a few weeks ago. (included at the bottom of this post). 

This time, I used the smooth side of the Avalanche Bazzill for the base. I chose the Tim Holtz Layering Stencil THS077, and a selection of Distress Oxide Inks. With brushes I applied colour through the stencil, then lightly spritzed the page with water to allow the ink to wick slightly. I also splattered some of the wet ink over the page. 

I tore pieces from the Foxglove paper, selecting areas from the paper I wanted to feature. I layered these up on the page (see photos), together with pieces cut from the Nixon Bazzill.

The photo was mounted on more of the Foxglove paper. The above was all arranged on the dry background card. I added two doilies, left over from a previous Papermaze kit. 

I created a title on the Cricut, and cut it twice - with Nixon Bazzill and Foxglove paper scraps. These were mounted over one another to create a shadow, and arranged down the centre of the layout. 

The little dragonfly charm was tied to the paper beneath the photo using twine (both from the kit). My journalling was added to a tag, also made from the Foxglove paper. 

I selected the three flag banners from the 49 and Market 'From The Garden' Laser Cut Elements pack, and strung them along the top of the layout. To the right side of the layout, I added one of the Rosie’s Studio Jubilee Wax Seals from the kit and another laser cut element. 

Three clusters of paper flowers were created using blossoms from my stash. Finally, I dotted some Raspberry Pink Nuvo Crystals Drops over the layout.


Here is my original layout, showing my daughter as St Valentine at a flower festival (LARP event). The papers are from my stash and the Simple Stories - Simple Vintage Sand and Sea - Rest & Relax paper.

June Papermaze Kit - Part 2

Lynn here today, with more from the colourful June Papermaze Kit.  Patterned papers, Bazzill card stock and a selection of embellishments, in a beautiful array of colours (yellows, pinks, oranges and fawn).

Here is the second pair of layouts I made with this lovely kit.

Bazzill Basics Cardstock - Bazzill White, Yukon Gold (included in kit), Chiffon, Tutu Pink, Stream and Quick Sand (in Extras pack).

Your Smile Makes My Heart Bounce - My daughter Emily having great fun on a bouncy castle.

The sheet of Bazzill White was chosen for this layout. I worked out where the patterned paper would go, then set about stencilling Distress Inks, through a bubble stencil onto the card.  

With the Perfect Pink Pattern paper, I cut up into the stripes - I counted three stripes for each cut, but cut them randomly to different lengths. I inked the edges, and stuck this to the top of the layout. 

My photo was double mounted using Chiffon & Stream Bazzill from the kit. This was placed onto the layout to the right side. The next stage was to select buttons in colours to match the papers and Bazzill. I stitched one button to the bottom of each stripe, using yellow DMC stranded cotton. 
 

I created my title and the date using the Cricut and the same two sheets of Bazzill cards stock. These were glued into place, and outlined with a fine black pen.

Finally, I scattered the Pinkfresh Studio - Gems - clear with gold dust from the kit, over the layout to add a touch of sparkle.


Pearly Queen - My granddaughter was taken with these pearls my daughter was given. Here she is wearing them and looking very pleased with herself!

For the background I chose the Lemon Yellow Pattern paper, I toned  down the pattern across the centre by dry brushing with some cream chalky finish paint. This was left to dry, while I made two large tags from the floral side of Best of the Best Bunches paper. I cut these using the Tim Holtz - Sizzix Thinlits Tag Collection die set. I inked the edges and placed them sideways on, halfway down the layout, with the holes facing each other near the centre. I joined the tags by tying them together with two strands of Baker's Twine. This was tied in a big bow. 

The two photos were trimmed and placed to the left of the layout overlapping the tag and each other. I made two journalling spots, using Tutu Pink & Stream Bazzill and a set of Sizzix Thinlit dies- Layering Frames. There were placed to the lower part of the right tag.

My title was cut with more dies - this time I used the Spellbinders Say Cheese Pooh's Alphabet and Numbers set. I cut the letters twice, once with some pearlescent card and the second set with the Stream Bazzill. These were layered up to create a shadow, and arranged onto the layout. Some letters were glued in place, others were applied with 3D foam pads. 

For the date I used Tim Holtz - Sizzix Thinlits - Alphanumerics Label set. These were cut from Chiffon Bazzill and applied to the oval journalling spot. I added my journalling to the square journalling spot. 

To embellish the tags I used several items from the kit - Embellishments - Prima - Among the Wild Flowers - Flowers and Tickets, Cocoa Vanilla - Bloom & Grow - Puffy Heart and Paper Favourites - peony die cuts. From my stash I added more paper flowers. I also added some pearls to the page in small clusters.
