Simple Stories - Simply Vintage Sand & Sea - Shetland

Lynn here today with another layout using The Simple Stories - Simple Vintage Sand and Sea collection. I have had great fun using the gentler colours from this collection, but I'll be back with layouts using the stronger colours next time!

This layout shows photos from my recent adventures in Shetland. While we were there, filming was taking place for the BBC TV Series 'Shetland', and here are photos of the home of Detective Inspector Jimmy Perez, known as The Lodberrie. 

I selected the sheet of Journal Elements paper, with the sand and sea side up (This sheet was gutted, to give me a 1" deep frame). Then I trimmed Smooth White Bazzill to 11" x 11", and inked the edges with Tea Dye Distress Ink. Then I splattered watered-down Distress Oxide Ink (Tea Dye and Uncharted Mariner), vertically through the centre of the cardstock. Once dry the card was mounted over the frame.

I trimmed the photos and placed them to the right of a 11" x 4" piece of Tides and Treasures paper. Before sticking this to the page, I trimmed the long sides with strips torn from the Enjoy the View paper.

I cut a tag from the Tag Elements paper, and punched a hole in the top. With a length of white seam binding ribbon, and some more watered down inks (colours as above), I dip dyed the ribbon and set it aside to dry. Then the ribbon was looped through the tag and tied in a bow. I added a date using the Tim Holtz Sizzix Alphanumeric die set - Label and scraps of papers already used. I tucked the tag into the top right of the photo band.

Next, I made the title - I used sand paper with a heavy grit, and a Sizzix Bigz xl alphabet die. Once the letters were glued to the layout, I perched a seagull on the letters from the 49 and Market Summer Porch Laser Cut Elements pack. 

From the pack of Journal Bits - I selected a journalling spot, which I placed to the left of the photos, and added my details. I then fussy cut the camera from the and rowing boat from the Summer Porch collection.

From the sheet of Combo Elements paper, I cut the phrases 'high tides + good vibes' and  'sand + sea', placing one above the tag and the other below the row boat.

July Papermaze Kit - Part 2

Lynn here today, with the pretty pastel July Papermaze Kit, and my second pair of Design Team layouts. Such a lovely kit with double-sided papers, Bazzill cardstock and a selection of embellishments. This second pair of layouts, are from two different children's farm visits, back in the 1990's.

Bazzill Basics Cardstock

Farmyard Fun - My daughter Emily enjoying an evening at the children's petting farm, in the Wheatsheaf Inn in the village of West Beckham, Norfolk.

The base for this layout is a sheet of white cardstock, I used a Tim Holtz Layering Stencil THS070 to create a soft background, with Distress oxide inks. Then I tore two strips from the Uniquely Creative - Tea & Tranquillity collection - Quiet Daydreams. The wider stripe border was approx. 12" x 2" and the pink script side 12" x 1.5". these were placed to the right side of the layout, with the polka dot, barcode strip from the same paper, positioned in-between the two papers. 

I tore six of the large squares from the Garden Sanctuary paper, then layered these over-lapping one another in two rows at the centre of the layout. I did not add glue to the very edges of these squares as I wanted to tuck embellishments around the edges later. 

From the other side of the Garden Sanctuary I selected and fussy cut tags and tickets. I punched holes into the top of the tags. These were arranged around the squares. I placed two photos onto the squares, leaving room for the title. 

The title was cut twice on the Cricut, once in Nixon Bazzill and the second time, in the striped side of Quiet Daydreams paper. These were layered up to create a shadow, and placed above the photos.

I added a little Baker's Twine to two of the tags. 

The date was added with some puffy number stickers. Finally, I decorated the layout with 49 and Market, Laser cut elements from the Whispering Way collection.

Down on the Farm - My girls at Godstone farm, a twins club outing, we were accompanied by their Aunty and her girls.

I gutted the 49 and Market - Travel Diaries collection - Sheet 1 paper, to make a 1" border, over this I machine stitched a 11" x 11" piece of Regency Blue Pattern & Solid Sheet paper. I rounded the corners of this paper before stitching it in place. The cut edges of all the papers were inked with Distress Ink.

With the piece gutted from the Travel Diaries collection - Sheet 1, (beige side up), trimmed down to 8" x 8", also with the corners rounded. I stitched this onto the centre of the layout. 

A scrap of the Regency Blue Pattern & Solid Sheet paper, trimmed to 1" x 10.5" was arranged across the middle of the page. on top of this and slightly lower I added a scrap of Foxglove paper after trimming one edge with a scalloped border punch. Both these pieces were inked with Distress ink.

I selected two photos, one was mounted onto a scrap of Quiet Daydreams paper, the other was mounted under the metallic copper Dovecraft Frame from the kit. These were arranged onto the page.

I fussy cut three more tags from the Garden Sanctuary paper, punched holes in the tops and tied them together with some natural twine. these were spread out and stuck to the bottom right of the photos, ready for my journalling. 

I used a selection of alphabet stickers to create my title, which I placed under the photos. To embellish, I used two Rosie’s Studio Jubilee Wax Seals from the kit and more of the 49 and Market, Laser cut elements from the Whispering Way collection.

Bella Blvd ~ Documented #2 🌈

Hi everyone, it’s Anna back with you today. I’m sharing my second layout this month using Bella Blvd Documented. 

You can find the collection in the shop here. 

I wanted to document a trip to the Berlin Wall which was full of colourful artwork. I picked a couple of photos and chose the rainbow elements of the collection to use for this layout. 

I used a sheet of white bazzill cardstock as my base and then trimmed ‘Routine’ in half vertically so I had every colour. Before I stuck it down I used Distress Ink on the cardstock in corresponding colours to match the colours on the paper.

I added two boarder stickers to my layout from the Doohickey Cardstock Stickers - the black spotted one to the top of the layout and the rainbow boarder strip to the bottom. 

I mounted my two photos on to some bazzill cardstock and adhered them to my page. 

I ended up covering up lots of my rainbow distress ink which my second picture! But I did take a photo of the covered up part - below! 

I used the alpha stickers on the Doohickey Cardstock stickers to create my title and added various other stickers to my layout too. 

I added two tags from ‘Daily Details’ which I tucked behind my top photo. I punched a hole at the top and added some twine.

Arden Creative Studio - Vintage Makers - Let's Go!

Claire here sharing a new 12x12 scrapbook page made with the Vintage Makers collection from Arden Creative Studio. 

I really love this collection. It's generic in theme so can be easily used to accommodate any story you want to tell! For this layout, I'm making an autumnal page, inspired by a quilting design I saw on Pinterest.

I selected 4 patterned papers, using both the Essentials and Foundations Paper Packs and cut 2"x2" squares, positioning them in my page to create the basic shape of the leaf. I cut some of the squares in half to make triangles that create the points of the leaf. 

Once the pieces were loosely in place, I drew around the outside lightly before removing all the squares to add mixed media. 

I added ink with a brayer in three different Distress Oxide colours and black splatters with a wet paintbrush. 

Next, I adhered the patterned paper squares on foam and drew around the leaf with black Sharpie, also drawing in a stalk. 

I resized my photos to 2" squares and adhered them into the shape. 

I used laser cut leaves and tickets to embellish, building small clusters to bring the photos to life.

For my title, I raided my thicker stash to find one that matched the colours in the collection. If you're looking for more, the Papermaze Big Autumn Sale has just launched, so now's a great time to stock up on alphas and grab yourself a bargain!

Pumpkin - Simple Stories - Simple Vintage Autumn Breeze Collection

Hi everyone!

It’s Rebecca here today, and I’m excited to share my latest layout using the Simple Vintage Autumn Breeze collection, which you can find in the shop here.

With October in full swing and Halloween just around the corner, I thought it was the perfect time to scrap some pumpkin patch photos. I began by fussy-cutting a few polaroid frames from the Crisp Days patterned paper and used them to frame my photos. I arranged the frames so they overlapped slightly in the centre of a sheet of premium white cardstock.

I was immediately drawn to the Cozy Season patterned paper featuring a variety of ticket stubs. To make these tickets a focal point, I fussy-cut several in different sizes and colours, then used a circle punch to add semi-circular notches to the tops and bottoms. I arranged them in a diamond shape behind my photos for added dimension and visual interest. To finish this section, I added foam behind my photos for lift and adhered them over the ticket design.

I wanted to keep the layout fairly clean and uncluttered, so I kept embellishing to a minimum. I chose a few large leaves from the Floral Bits & Pieces, along with some pumpkin clusters and floral pieces from the same pack and also some fussy cut from patterned papers within the collection. I tucked the leaves behind the photos and placed the pumpkins on either side of the ticket cluster to extend the design and balance the composition.

For the title, I used the word Pumpkin from the Foam Stickers. I absolutely love these stickers — they come in a range of fonts and styles, and they always make a great statement title.

To finish the layout, I added a bit of mixed media. Using Distress Ink in the shade Carved Pumpkin, I applied soft stencilled leaves around the edges of the design. I then added ink splatters in the same shade, along with some metallic gold for a touch of shimmer.

September Papermaze Kit - Part 2

Hello, Lynn here today - I have two layouts for you from the Papermaze September kit. The kit has six double-sided patterned papers, a selection of embellishments and 2 sheets of Bazzill Basics Cardstock. There is also an extra pack of 4 sheets of Bazzill, selected to match the colours in the kit. 

Before looking at how the layouts were made, here are the details of what you will find in the September kit.

Embellishments:

Bazzill Basics Cardstock - Touch of Pink, Lily Pond (included in kit), Hibiscus, Bark, Avocardo & Powder Blue (in extra pack). 

Minnie Mouse - Flo's uncle brought this Minnie hoodie back from Disney World for her. Here she is modelling her new outfit.

Using a sheet of Smooth White Bazzill, I stencilled some sparkles (Tim Holtz, Layering Stencil THS132) with some Distress Ink - Festive Berries. I flicked some Festive Berries and Black Soot ink over the page. Then to add sparkle, I also splattered Distress Mica Stain - Crooked Broomstick. 

I cut a 3" x 12" piece from Mintay MT-WIS-05, and placed this across the top of the page. 

With Blackberry Swirl Bazzill Basics Cardstock, I cut a strip 1" x 12" , placing this under the red dotty paper. I place a piece of the music note side of Music Garden MT-MUS-04, 2" x 6.5" and placed this centrally over the red and above the black strip. From the same paper but with the pink side up, I added a piece 2" x 10" over the others. (Please see the photos for placements.) 

I placed a strip of  Hibiscus Bazzill 2" x 6", vertically onto the page so it will be to the right of the photos. My photos were placed onto another piece of the music paper, this is 5" x 6.5", and it was place onto the centre of the layout.

Using Smooth White, Hibiscus, Blackberry Swirl and Sunshine Yellow Bazzill, and a selection of Spellbinder, Simple Stories, Say Cheese, Classic Mouse Die Sets, I set about making my own embellishments and title: Alphabet cut in twice to make a shadow, Steamboat Willie Duo to make Minnie and Flags & Banners for the pinwheels. Red buttons were added to the centre of the pinwheels. 

I attached some of the embellishments with glue and others with 3D foam pads.

My journalling was written below the title. Finally, I scattered some black gems in small clusters around the page. 

New Home Gift - So Berry Sweet - My daughter loves strawberries and anything decorated with them - so when she moved into her new home, I made her this strawberry hamper with card and gift tag.

I started this layout with the Woodland Secrets paper - MT-WIS-04. I tore an irregular piece from each side of the paper in different places. I backfilled these areas with scraps of the gingham side of the Farm Life Floral paper. 

With the remains of the Woodland Secrets MT-WIS-05 paper I cut a piece 10" x 6", and distressed the edges. This was placed in the centre of the layout.

I mounted the photos onto scraps of Music Garden MT-MUS-04 and Hibiscus Bazzill. The photos were then arranged onto the Woodlands Secrets paper. 

I cut the title from Avocardo Bazzill using a Peartree Cutfile 'So Berry Sweet'. I filled this using scraps of papers and cardstock from the kit. The title was mounted onto the layout with 3D foam pads.

The kit contains a selection of 49 and Market - Nature's Haven Wildflowers Laser Cuts, and I added to these with my own pack of the same. These were used to build up clusters, around each of the torn parts of the layout. Some of the elements were raised up with 3D foam pads.

From the kit I added a Little Birdie Flower and the Little Birdie butterfly. I added the date and subtitle with the P13 Till We Meet Again alpha sheet. I cut the pink twine into 5 pieces, rolled them up, and tucked them into various places around the page.
