October's Crop

I'm sure that the crops come around quicker each month!  Is it really the 3rd Saturday of October tomorrow?!  It must be, because we're cropping at Otley Village Hall again!  This lovely kit has been designed for us by Lynn Cooper:

Trick or Treat

Hi, Carol with you today…. I recently bought the "rare oddities" Graphics 45 8x8 pad from the shop, and as a Graphics 45 fan it doesn't disappoint…. Inside the front and rear covers there are templates for tags and a gift box, so, for this post I thought I'd try the box out and make a trick or treat box…

I cut out the template and used one of the text pages to make my box….I then added some orange ribbon and a tag from the "place in time" pad…. I won't be making a lot of these boxes just for a special few…but, they are going to make some lovely christmas boxes.

Echo Park Story of Fall

Hi there its Julie here, with the rainy days outside I'm definitely getting ready for Autumn (Fall as our American cousins say) and I was inspired to use the gorgeous new collection from Lori Whitlock for Echo Park called The Story of Fall.

For my layout I used a sheet of Bazzill Dotted Swiss paper and then created used several pieces of the collection as backgrounds to match the colours in the photograph and to create an autumnal background.

I used a Tim Holtz background heart stencil and a co-ordinating ink to create a little bit of background behind the photograph, as the hearts vary in size I was trying to create the impression of falling hearts similar to the falling leaves in autumn.  I cut a strip from the Borders paper and turned it on its side to break up the background Bazzill and act as another part of the cluster at the top of the photo.

I used several pieces from the Ephemera pack to create the bottom cluster and a couple of pieces from the Simple Stories Sweater Weather Die Cuts as I felt it all co-ordinated so beautifully.  The "Carte Postale" is where I plan on doing some journalling and was included in the Story of Fall Ephemera pack.  A beautiful collection for all your autumnal photographs!

quartet of notecards

Hi, Carol with you today…. I like to have a few little notecards at hand to pop into parcels or just as a "thinking of you" type card….its great to get the stamps, inks and paintbrushes out and spend an afternoon chilling….

My card blanks are 3" square and on each one I have stamped and embossed my chosen stamp using black versafine ink and clear embossing powder.  This stops my colour running.

So, my first stamp is by Paperartsy and is from the Jo Firth-Young collection of minis… I used distress ink mixed with a little water and picked up with a paintbrush to add colour to the image.  Distress inks used:- broken china, twisted citron.

This card uses the same flower stamp as used on my previous post, this is from the Jo Firth-Young plate 26.  The flower was coloured using festive berries distress ink and hi-lights added with broken china and a white pen.  To ground the flower to the card I added a touch of grey to the edges.

For this card another Jo Firth-Young mini 34 this time, this was coloured in using broken china and twisted citron distress ink.  Hi-lights added with a white pen.

This time a Darcy mini was used - and the image coloured in using distress ink twisted citron and fossilised amber.  Hi-lights added with the festive berries distress ink and white pen.

all cards were doodled around the edges using a black pen.

Hi I'm back today to share another project I made using the Kaisercraft Time Machine collection, you can see the layout I made Here

 

I created a couple of tags using the inspirational quotes on the Scriptorian sheet. These will sit nicely on a stand in my craftroom or I may attach them to a card for a special friend.

 

 

I wanted to tone down the colour of the quote so I added a thin layer of watered down gesso, I layered this over the clock stickers and the chipboard chicken wire.

 

 

This Dusty Attic Chipboard clock makes a perfect embellishment to go with the quote on the tag, a button and a metal charm complete the cluster

Rustic Elegance...

When I saw Carta Bella's collection 'Rustic Eleglance' I knew it would be perfect for scrapbooking a couple of summer weddings!

You can find the collection here. There are some really lovely details for scrapbooking weddings, although plenty of the collection is suitable for general scrapbooking too.

I used the 'Jars' patterned paper as my starting point.

I also used the element stickers.

This sheet of journaling cards are also great for adding project life pages to your wedding pages.

I wanted to create a layout to document being a wedding photographer for the day. I hadn't done it before so I wanted to write about the experience. Therefore half of my layout is taken up with my journaling. The top half consists of a picture of me on the day and some of the element stickers.

I have then gone on to create project life pages with some of the pictures that I took along with the journaling cards.

Journaling pages like this, can add interest to your albums as well as record information about an event that you don't want to forget. They are also handy at the beginning of a holiday album for instance.

October Afternoon Summertime

Hi, its Julie here.  With summer leaving us I wanted to share a couple of summertime layouts using a mixture of October Afternoon Summertime and some of the Crate Paper Journey Ephemera.

For the first layout I used a stencil background to ink some stars on the pastel yellow background using some Tim Holtz Distress inks to create a little bit of a night sky.  I then used a sheet of the October Afternoon paper called Sunshine as a background to the photo.  I used some sprays to darken the yellow slightly and then fussy cut the string lights from the Backyard Lights sheet of paper.

As a title I used a square from the Blue Skies paper and used some pieces of ephemera from the Crate Paper journey pack to frame the photograph.  I felt the colours blended well with the Summertime collection.  To make one set of the lights sparkle I added some Stickles in Star Dust.

For the second summery layout I used some more of the Summer time collection, this time using Puffy Clouds as my background.  I, again, sprayed the paper to add interest but this time used a gold to mimic sparkles from the sea.  I kept this layout very simple and used the reverse side of Sunshine and Green Grass to create some penants to put at the side of the photo.  I also used another piece of the Blue Skies paper for some narrative.  As clouds are my favourite I added a little wooden cloud from Freckled Fawn in the corner that I had inked and added a bit of glitter with my Wink of Stella pen.  I used arrows and a feather from the Crate Paper Journey Ephemera to emphasize the titles, I found the pack to be full of really useful pieces that can be combined with numerous other collections.
