'Long Lockdown Walk' - 12x12 Layout using Shimelle's 'Never Grow Up' collection

Hello everyone, Rebecca back with you again. I can't believe it's July already! Lockdown sure is making the year fly by! I'm here today to share my second layout which I've created using Shimelle's 'Never Grow Up' collection from American Crafts.

For this layout I've used the 'Enchanted Sky' patterned paper. I love the little suns and rainbows on this paper and decided I wanted to try and elevate them and add some dimension. I started by trimming the paper so that it would spread across my layout like a starburst from one corner to the other diagonally.

I distressed the edges and then hand-stitched over the sun rays with yellow embroidery thread. I tried to vary the stitch lengths to mimic the rays that were already on the paper. Next, I cut out some of the sun centres from the discarded sections of paper and adhered them over the top of the suns on my background piece with foam pads to add dimension and to hide where all the threads met!

I adhered the patterned paper onto a sheet of navy blue Bazzill Basics cardstock with double sided tape. I matted my photos on co-ordinating cardstocks from my stash and added them to the layout with adhesive foam behind them. I fussy-cut a couple of the rainbows and clouds from the discarded sections (couldn't bear to waste any of that patterned paper!) and added them to my layout - hand stitching over the rainbow with co-ordinating embroidery thread first.

I created two clusters either side of my photos by adding a few florals and feathers from the Floral Ephemera pack and added a couple of stickers from the Accent and Phase Stickers Sheet.

I finished up my layout by adding my title - just using thickers from my stash and by going a bit nuvo-mad! I added a border of Nuvo Drops using colours that matched the rainbows on the patterned paper, and decided that more Nuvo was needed! I added drops to the rainbows and the suns on the patterned paper and then walked away before I felt compelled to add any more!

And that's me done for this one! I already have a plan in mind for my next layout, so off I go to create!

Hope everybody is well and staying safe, I'll be back with you later in the month.

Take care,

Rebecca x
