September Papermaze Kit - Part 2

Lynn here, back today to share the second two layouts using the lovely September kit.  This time I have been working with some family history photos.

A reminder of the September Kit content.

I made a page in celebration of Joyce's 90th birthday this month. I was inspired by the work of Karola Witczak when planning this page.

I used both sides of the beautiful Stamperia (Garden - Score Watering Can) paper, first cutting a section from the top of the paper - 8"deep x 12" wide to use score side up. Then I cut another section 0.5" deep x 12" wide and a third piece 12" deep x 2" wide. The latter two are used stripe side up. 

There is so many lovely images on this paper, I didn't want them to be covered by my circles, so I did some careful cutting with my craft knife. I cut out the tag, watering can, and robin to use later. I then cut around the base of the wreath and the butterfly, allowing me to lap the images over my circles.

 

I distressed and inked the edges of the largest and smallest pieces of paper, the third was trimmed with a Deep Edge Martha Stewart punch, then inked. All the inking was done with Distress Ink pad 'Broken China'. All three pieces were then arranged onto the base cardstock which is Fig Swirl Bazzill.  

To make my circles I used two different sized doilies (5" & 4"), Then I used 6" x 6" piece of 'Stonehenge' Bazzill (taken from the next layout) and 'Yam' Bazzill to die cut two more doilies. The doilies are both Sizzix Thinlits dies. I used the centre of one of these die cuts (Yam) over the small paper doily. Then with some circle dies I cut two circles (3" & 1 1/2") from some 'Natural' cardstock left over from a previous kit. My photo was cut with another circle die 3 1/2" wide.

I used the wide cream lace from the kit and laid this across the join (3" up from the bottom) in the papers. Over this I wrapped some Baker's twine, tie it all together in the centre. Arrange all these pieces over the page, I added in the crochet flower, three wooden buttons and the four paper flowers from the kit together with a few additional flowers from my stash. I also added two key charms.

Add the journalling to the cardstock circles once you know where they will be positioned. 

I made some leaf fronds punched from scraps of the patterned paper with a Martha Stewart Punch, and tucked them into each of the flower clusters. I added back in the three elements I cut from the paper at the beginning. A few of the Tim Holtz Clippings Stickers were added here and there where appropriate to the theme of my layout. 

Finally my Title was created with some Glittery Chipboard American Craft Thickers White Letters.

For my next layout I chose a photo of three generations of the Maddison family, taken before the younger two set off to live in Canada.

The first task here was to cut a piece from the 'Stonehenge' Bazzill about 6" x 6" for the layout above. Gut this from where the gap will not show later.

I used a Tim Holtz Layering Stencil to apply some Distress Grit Paste onto three areas around where the paper and photos would sit later. Once dry, I lightly coloured the paste with some Distress Ink in 'Gathered Twigs'. 

Next I cut a selection of the antique doors from the Kaisercraft - Gypsy Rose 'Doors' paper. I mounted my photo onto white card, then 'Yam' Bazzill, with very fine borders. The doors, mats and photo were all distressed and inked. 

Once I had arranged all these elements, I stuck them in place. I wrote the details of the people in the photo onto another light coloured door and cut these out into narrow strips and added them to the left of the photo. 

My long title was created with some letter stickers from Pinkfresh Studio - Sweet and Simple - Puffy Alpha Stickers - Gold.

Pumpkin Patch ....... Simple Stories 'Forever Fall'

Hello again

Anita here today with a layout this time, using up the rest of my DT kit using the beautiful Autumnal papers from the Simple Stories Forever Fall collection.

This paper collection was perfect for this large photo I have been waiting to scrap of my Mum and our girls taken back in 2011.
 For several years running we have visited a local Pick Your Own Farm at various times throughout the year, but my favourite visit is always the one to the pumpkin patch.
We have been making these visits since our girls were small and they always have a lovely display of various harvested pumpkins and also lots left out in the fields and we enjoy walking about and finding the largest and smallest ones that we can.

I based my layout on a sheet of Gathered Together  and onto the right hand side of the page I added a strip of the reverse side of a sheet of  4 x 6 Horizontal Elements 
I had my photo printed out large, it was initially an 8" x 10" print, but I cut it down to 7" x 10" and I placed this on the left hand side of the page and then cut a panel from a sheet of  4 x 4 Elements
and I overlapped this on the right hand side of the photo.

 I cut some flowers from a panel on the 4 x 4 Elements sheet and added some mulberry paper glittered leaves in various places. 
I wanted to add some extra texture using fabric on my page, so I took some white cheesecloth and popped in a small bowl with a little water and some drops each of Crushed Courduroy and Barn Door Distress Stains 
After a few hours in soak I hung it to dry and added it to the page. The cheesecloth takes on the stain really well and I have often used this technique with a big variety of colours.

 After it had dried thoroughly I tucked small pieces of the dyed cheesecloth under areas of the page and then completed the layout using adhesive copper tone studs, various buttons and a raffia bow.

Sometimes I really enjoy using a very large statement photo and less embellishments on a page for a change, especially if I need to make a page quite quickly.

All of these gorgeous papers and many more are all available over at the shop..... so why not pull up a chair and a cuppa and treat yourself to a little shopping spree ;)

Pebbles Patio Party from Jen Hadfield - Berry Sweet

Hello Karen here with another layout using the beautiful Patio Party collection from Pebbles. Although hot summer days now seems a distant memory, I have a layout to share with you today which captures the memories of summer strawberry picking when my children were small.

I started with a 12 x 12 sheet of white Bazzill cardstock which was trimmed slightly before matting it  onto a 12 x 12 sheet of red cardstock and machine stitching round the edge with black thread.

Three 3 x 4 photos and three pieces of 3 x 4 patterned paper cut from a sheet of the Fresh Berries paper were matted on some black cardstock. With black thread I machine stitched around the edges of the pieces of patterned paper before arranging these and the photos in a grid in the centre of the white cardstock. Small scraps of the reverse side of the Fresh berries paper and some of the die cuts from the ephemera pack were tucked underneath and around the grid. I also added a couple of the tags cut from the Just For You patterned paper and threaded these with some bakers twine.

In my DT kit there were some of the die cut chipboard pieces from Scrapiniec. 

I snipped a small section out of the The Blueberry Fairy Square Frame to make it into a rectangular frame and added some vellum to the back of it before sticking to my layout.

The Capture the Moment chipboard piece was the perfect size to fit inside the frame.

Stickers from my stash were used for the title and I also added butterflies punched from co-ordinating cardstock.

I finished off my layout with journalling strips printed onto white cardstock.

I've really enjoyed using the Patio Party collection and all the products used can be found in the Papermaze store.

Doodlebug Design ~So Much Pun #2

Hi, it's Anna back with my second layout using Doodlebug Designs So Much Pun. Take a look at the collection here and my first layout using this collection here.

For my second layout, I decided to base it on my sons love of his PlayStation and a game in particular. The bright colours and element stickers were really relatable to this.

I began by cutting two strips of the Just My Stripe patterned paper and placing them either side of a white piece of 12x12 bazzill cardstock.  

I used some Pretty Little Studio word stickers on top of my cardstock and patterned paper layered strips.

I used the element stickers here and here around my title, which I used the Doodlebug Abigail Alphabet Stickers for.

Time for Adventure with Kaisercraft Hide & Seek

Hi Tracee with you today to share another layout I created using the Hide & Seek collection by Kaisercraft. It's perfect for documenting our camping adventures and all the cool places we've gotten to visit. Of course it is much more versatile than just for camping trips, on my last page (see here) I used the pinky elements that come in the collection which gives it a different look altogether.

We recently visited Cornwall and we have some great pics of our time there, this one was at Boscastle where the scenery is of course stunning! The rugged coastline lead me to use just the blues and browns from the collection and I used the Trees sheet for my journaling by fussy cutting out the words and arranging them to suit my needs. 

The arrows were from the sticker sheet and I added some talcum powder to the back of one, this took away the sticky and I was then able to tie some string around it and layered it over the other arrow.  I found a chipboard piece in my stash, so I cut it up and layered it behind my photos. The wooden dots have been in my stash for ages and I thought they went perfectly on this page.

Here you can see more of the Trees paper that I cut up to use as my journaling.

Also here. This photo also shows the real reason I used some here and that was because I made a boo boo by sticking something there, changing my mind and it tore the paper! It doesn't totally cover it but it certainly looks better with it than without. The little bird I found in the 'collectables' pack was a good fit to cover another word that I didn't want showing.

 I have really enjoyed playing with this collection, it's got so many possibilities!

Unicorns and rainbows...

When I popped into Papermaze to grab my design team stuff I found this gorgeous girly line. And I had to pick it up and use it!

I picked up this one by simples Stories called Dream Big. I know this has been out for a while but somehow I missed it. IF you have missed it as well you have to get it. If you know someone who loves all things unicorns and rainbows this is the line for you.

I decided to do some fussy cutting and make a picture frame for my best friends daughters bedroom!

There are a lot of papers in this line that lend themselves to being fuzzy cutting.

Here is what I came up with...adding glitter to this line was adding the perfect touch.

All those pretty unicorns and rainbows to cut out! Add glitter and bling and your away!

Time for an Adventure

 Today it's Lisa with you and it's time for a little adventure.....
 

 

 

I've chosen to work with these 'outsidey' papers from Kaisercraft. The collection is called 'Mountain Air'. You can view the whole collection here.

 

You don't have to have been on a mountain to enjoy these papers. Anything outdoorsy with a little adventure fits perfectly. I'm going to show you today how I made this collection work for me...with no mountain in sight.

 

 

 

We stayed at Disney's Wilderness Lodge in the Summer. It's green and beautiful. I instantly thought of this resort when I saw these papers. The trees, the wood effect, the stags.

 

 

You'll' notice a few red arrows throughout the page. These were actually cut out from a sticker strip from this 12x12 sticker sheet here.  I love this sticker sheet. Never be afraid to cut them up if they don't fit.

 

I did the same thing here. The long word sticker strips were all cut up to fit.

 

I also used some sticky foam pads to the back of some of the stickers to give them some height. Otherwise the page can appear a little flat. Add some foam pads to the back and suddenly the page just POPS!!

 

 

 

It was the 12x12 paper here that inspired this page.

Not all of them suited but I did cut out the ones that did and created this grid. I laid and stuck everything in place before I added the photos and I measured the size they needed to be to fit the gaps and printed them.

 

I love this page and how it came together, I think it really needed the red to break it up a little, so these colours from the collection are so well balanced.

I'm so pleased I picked this collection to work with despite not using any mountain photos. It works so well.
