Simple Stories - Simple Vintage Sand & Sea - Ahoy There!

 

Lynn back today with the last of my Papermaze DT layouts using The Simple Stories - Simple Vintage Sand and Sea collection. For this one I used more of the red, white and blue elements from the collection.  The photos show my granddaughter playing in the boat at the local playground. 

I started this page with a 12" x 12" sheet of scrap paper, over which I built up my background. The top half of the page is a 6" x 12" piece of Shore is Fun (blue & white dot) paper. Then under this, I placed a 4.5" x 12" (blue & white stripe) Combo Elements paper. The third paper at the bottom is a 1" x 12" piece of Tides and Treasures (wood panel). 

 

I selected two 12" long stickers from the Element Stickers Icon sheet, and placed these where the two papers join at the base of the layout. Over the red & white dot sticker I applied some P13 alphabet stickers for the date.

I used red Bazzill cardstock to mount the photos, then applied them at angles to the left of centre of the layout. Between the photos and to the left I added a piece cut from the elements side of the Combo Elements paper. I trimmed off the flowers, keeping the red & white dot frame and journalling area. I wrote some details here, and added some phrase stickers from the Cardstock Stickers Icons sheet

For the bottom right of the photo, I took a bow journalling spot from the Journaling Bits pack, and the 'waves for days' sticker from the Cardstock Stickers Icons sheet. I wound some red and white Baker's twine around the phrase.  I cut the barcode strip from the Combo Elements paper, and cut the striped area into two pieces, I placed this over the join in papers, either side of the photo.

To the left of the photo, I added three tags from the Journalling Bits pack, adding more twine to the holes, these we attached with 3D foam pads. 

I added a knotted piece of twine to the top left corner of the layout. For the title I cut letters from red and white cardstock, using the Tim Holtz - Sizzix - Alphanumerics Varsity die set.

Simple Stories - Simple Vintage Sand & Sea - Kypseli

Lynn here today with a new Papermaze DT layout using The Simple Stories - Simple Vintage Sand and Sea collection. Previously I created two layouts using the gentler colours from this collection, so here is a layout with the stronger blue and red colours.

This layout has a more nautical theme, a photo of my husband and me onboard the yacht 'Kypseli', our home for two weeks flotilla sailing in the Greek Ionian Islands last year. 

I used a sheet of Avalanche Bazzill cardstock, and with a scrap of polythene, I applied watered down Distress Oxide Ink (Uncharted Mariner) to the card. 

I cut pieces from the several papers from the collection:
1.75" x 10" Stay Salty (red & White stripe), 7" x 5" Shore is Fun (Blue & White spot) & 5.5" x 6" Great Escape (wooden board area). The edges were inked and arranged as seen in the image.

My photo was mounted onto white card, and place at the centre of the page. I added the date under the photo with Doodlebug Designs Teensy Type - Blue Jean alphabet stickers. The Yacht name title was made with Doodlebug Designs My Type Alphabet Stickers - Lily White. 

For embellishments I added:
A tag top selected from the Tag Elements paper, with a large white brad. stickers including 'Let's 'Sail Away' and the seagull from the Cardstock Sticker Icons sheet.
The seagull label and a red & white dot label from the Journal Bits pack.
I chose a section from the 3x4 / 4x6 Elements paper, and cut out the yacht and the phrase. 
With the 49 and Market - Summer Porch collection - Laser Cut Elements, I selected the net and the blue knotted rope. 
A few acrylic anchors from my stash. 

The net was placed to the left side of the layout, with the blue rope over the top. I cut a slot in the seagull label and threaded it through the rope. The rope was arranged over the net with the label to the top left of the layout. 

The yacht was placed to the bottom left and stuck down with 3D pads. The phrase 'set sale on new adventures' was placed to the right of the wood paper. the red and white dot label has journalling written on it and it was tucked into the top of the photo. It can be removed to read the details.

Simple Stories - Noteworthy - Memories Documented

Claire here today sharing a new layout made with the Noteworthy collection from Simple Stories. 

This collection is a pocket pages style collection, with lots of cut apart elements.  Although I don't make pocket pages, i'm always drawn to these collections. The patterns on the b sides are so much fun, you can really let your imagination run wild!   Add to that, the cut apart elements give you tonnes of mileage and really let you stretch the collection and bulk out your ephemera. It's a great value option.

I've used three major cut apart elements in this layout, creating a big statement just by fussy cutting.

To the Premium White Cardstock, I added a piece of the March paper, cut to 8.5" square with distressed edges, created by scuffing the edges of the paper with my scissors. Along the top, I used a punch to give a notebook edge look.

Using the cut apart elements from this paper, I cut two tall elements, a spiral notebook and envelope, from the March and June papers, and lay these on top of each other, slightly offset, to create an anchor for my photos to sit on.

I raised the spiral notebook piece on foam and cut right around the wire to help it look more authentic. I also added a foam sticker clip for extra interest. 

To balance the page across the square, I used another cut apart element, this time from the April paper. It had three coloured squares like Post It notes and I thought it would be perfect to house my photos. I flipped it horizontally across the page and adhered my photos on thin foam, showing just a bit of the coloured square underneath to help frame them.

To the left of the photo strip, I created a small cluster using floral ephemera, a sticker from the Cardstock Stickers and a clipboard from the Journaling Bits pack.

I also added a small floral cluster on the opposite end of the photo strip for balance.

Next, I added some of the cards from the Journaling Bits and stickers to the top of the photo strip to replicate a MemoryDex effect. I love how this part turned out - It's pulled all the colours, the paper elements and florals together in a single cluster. I think it's my favourite part of the whole layout.

 

To finish the layout, I added a bold title from the Foam Stickers, showcasing all the colours in the collection. As a final touch, I added the cute pencils to make it look like I'm ready to add journaling to the page.

This has been a really fun page to create - the colours in this collection are my favourite - lots of pinks, yellows and teals - what's not to love!

Pinkfresh Studio - Making the Best of It - Fun

Claire here sharing my second layout using the beautiful 'Making the Best of It' collection from Pinkfresh Studio. You can find it in the shop here.

To start, I chose this beautiful pink Bazzill cardstock from the Matchmaker Pack to use as my base. Taking the Yes You Can paper, I fussy cut each chevron and rearranged them on the page to create a central point of interest.

I loosely adhered them in place with a touch of glue and then ran them through my sewing machine to secure them. This also meant I could lift the edges to create extra dimension.

In the centre of the design, I placed my photo which I had cut into a circle to soften the edges, and backed with the yellow cardstock from the Matchmaker pack to echo the yellow chevrons and the sunflowers in my photo. I layered this on top of a tag from the Journaling Bits, adding some green thread from my stash, tied in a bow.

Next, the embellishing! I used a selection of Vellum Die Cuts and Die Cut Ephemera to create clusters at each point, and added a Chipboard Sticker saying 'Lovely Day' which mirrored the circular photo.

For extra interest, I also added some of the Puffy Stickers to my clusters, mixing the materials to add extra interest and texture.

For my title, I selected a phrase from the Die Cut Ephemera and the FUN stickers from the Puffy Stickers.

As a final touch, I embellished with some die cut butterflies, some enamel dots and some gold nuvo drops.

This collection has been so much fun to create with. It's beautiful colours, florals and patterns are perfect for Spring scrapping, You can check out the full collection here.

Pinkfresh Studio - Making the Best of It - The Good Life

Hi everyone!

Claire here and this month I am back sharing a Spring layout, created with the new Making the Best of It collection from Pinkfresh Studio.

It's been a minute since I've created with Pinkfresh Studio collections and I've really missed it. This new collection definitely doesn't disappoint. It has a beautiful colour palette, and is filled with gorgeous florals and a mixture of materials with vellum floral embellishments, cardstock stickers, puffy stickers and more! You can check the collection out in full here.

For a change, I steered away from my usual crisp white cardstock background, opting for the Be the Sunshine paper which has this fun multicoloured grid pattern.

To create my layered design, I started with a large envelope and red scalloped card from the Journaling Bits, and used this as an anchor to build from.

I backed my photo with a piece of the Live for the Hope of It paper as the pink tones echo the pink of the envelope and the journaling card. To create depth, I raised the photo on foam before adhering it to the envelope.

The photograph was taken last year in my garden, and just behind the fence is a small river running through a wooded area, so I wanted to try and depict this in the layout. 

I fussy cut the blue scalloped border from the No Risk, No Magic paper, slotting this under the envelope to mimic the stream.

Next, the embellishing - and there are so many options to choose from!

I was immediately drawn to the Vellum Die Cut Ephemera. The florals and leaves are beautifully designed, and the vellum provides great movement and texture for clusters. They even have gold foiling which adds that little something special!

I mixed the vellum florals with a circular sticker from the Chipboard Stickers and added some Die Cut Ephemera and Puffy Stickers amongst the other clusters to add that extra interest created by mixing materials. For example, I also fussy cut some leaves from the Good Feelings paper, echoing the blue tones and adding movement.

To create my title, I opted for one of the Puffy Title Stickers, adding a butterfly from the Puffy Stickers just underneath.

I made a smaller subtitle to sit along the bottom of the photo, using a banner from the Journaling Bits and another Puffy Sticker.  To create extra dimension, I rolled the banner between my fingers to curl the edges.

At this point, I liked the design but it didn't feel finished. I felt like it needed more green to really reflect the photograph, but I liked the central design all clustered together, 

I decided to offset the page, mounting it on a piece of the Beautiful Story paper and it immediately brought the layout to life! I love how this green reflects the envelope and the outdoorsy feel of the photograph.

Pinkfresh Studio - Lovely Blooms - What Really Matters

Claire back here with you today, sharing my second layout with the Lovely Blooms collection from Pinkfresh Studio.

What I really love about this collection in particular, is the different colour combinations. 

If you saw my first layout, you may remember is was full of beautiful bright, summer colours. This time, I'm focusing on the earthier, warmer tones with pops of burgundy, warm creams and burnt oranges.  It has a completely different feel and I'm here for it! Who doesn't love a single collection that offers so much versatility! 

I used a cutfile to create a large doily in the centre of my page, cut from the B side of the Choose Happy paper. This is the perfect piece to anchor the page and build my clusters.

I layered my photograph on one of the elements from the Journaling bits pack. I offset it slightly letting these shades of green blend with the background of my photo.

Next came the fun part - the layering and building of that beautiful floral cluster at the bottom, which supports my photo.

I pulled out all of the warmer tones from the Floral Ephemera, fussing cutting a few extra orange and one small blue flower from the Bloom Brightly paper.

I lay some on foam and some flat, curling the edges of the petals and leaves by rolling then around a pencil.

Once these were all in place, I reached for the Fabric Stickers, adding the 'Be You' sticker to the bottom of the cluster. These are great for extra texture - they bring that little something extra to your projects.

For my title, I created a much smaller cluster in the top right, using a banner from the Journaling bits, the fabric stickers and Floral Ephemera. The width of the banner helps balance the bigger cluster at the bottom.

As a final touch, I added a few enamel dots to the clusters to echo the colours of this beautiful collection.

I really do love these tones of the collection, and how it enables me to scrap layouts with a completely different look and feel. I hope you've enjoyed reading about how it all came together.

Pinkfresh Studio - Lovely Blooms - Relax

Hello Scrappy Friends,

Claire here today, sharing a new layout made with the beautiful Lovely Blooms collection from Pinkfresh Studio. You can shop the collection here.

For my first layout, I was instantly drawn to the Captured Moments paper - I love this paper - It showcases all the core colours of the collection and has so many creative possibilities!

After mulling over several ideas, I cut the edges off the paper to create a square diamond. Then, I sliced each piece to give me 8 small coloured triangles.  I distressed the edges of each of these and adhered them on foam to create a large square.

Using a large tag from the Journaling Bits, I made an anchor in the centre of the design, offsetting my photo which I backed with tissue paper from my stash.

Once the photo was in place, I added some flowers in a diagonal, on opposite edges to echo the angular design. These are from the Die Cut Floral Ephemera Pack. They are a must for this collection. They're gorgeous!

For extra dimension and height, I curled the edges and layered with foam.

I added a small banner from the Die Cut Ephemera pack and created my 'Relax' title using the Puffy Alpha Stickers.

As a final touch, I wanted to add a bit more  black to the page to help the colour pop. I doodled a border around the outer edges of the triangles and sprinkled some Enamel Dots to finish the page.
