Papermaze January Kit - Part 3

Lynn here today - I had plenty of paper, Bazzill and some embellishments left over from the Papermaze Kit for January, after making four layouts for the Design Team. This time I have a scraplift for one layout and a sketch for the other (links for both in the details). Here are the first two layouts:

A reminder of what you will find in the kit:

Please see details of the kit in the first post HERE.

Grand Union Station
- The photos are from our trip to Washington DC and Grand Union Station where we saw a massive Christmas tree covered in Norweigan and American flags. A gift from Norway in gratitude for their help during and after WWII. Outside the station entrance were three gigantic Christmas wreaths, with large red bows and covered with tiny white lights.

This layout is based on a scraplift of a digital page from Sweet Shoppe Designs.

I used the Bo Bunny - Traditions paper as the background, and cut nine pieces 6.5 x 7.5 cm from Vanilla and Blind Date Bazzill and scraps of the Winter Magic paper. These were arranged in three rows of three on the page, each one being embellished before being glued into place. I rounded all the corners, and inked all the edges.

The first was adorned with a large bow cut from glittery foam using a Sizzix Sizzlit - Bow Tied. The greenery for this was cut using Ivy Bazzill and a few scraps of lighter green bazzill scraps, using the Funky Festive Sizzix Thinlits die set.

For the second piece I made a tag using one of the photos, a brad and two lengths of blue twine.

The third piece has a small photo and a tiny tree, fussy cut from the scraps of the Winter Magic paper. I added one of the puffy word stickers.

On the next row the first piece was adorned with three poinsettias cut from white and Ivy Bazzill, I used the Funky Festive die set for this too. I inked the edges of each piece and added the Tim holtz glittery stamen and blue gems to the flowers. Then I added another puffy word sticker.

My second piece is decorated with a wreath to reflect the ones in the photos, I used Ivy and scraps of red Bazzill. I cut the wreath twice (Wreath and Snowflake Sizzix die set), and off set them to give a thicker appearance. I added tiny clear gems.

Next I used the Sn@p letter stickers from the kit and some silver letters from my stash. I used some of the lace from the kit, with more of my blue twine and two more images cut from the Winter Magic paper.

For the third row - first another photo mounted onto the card, then trimmend with white bobble braid. Then a full photo for the next piece.

The last piece is decorated with the resin glittery heart and the plearl swirl from the kit, more
puffy word stickers and the wording from the Winter Magic paper's manufacturer's strip.

These were all stuck in place and further embellishments added. I used more twine and some silver star sequins, some dew drops, and a couple of chipboard pieces.

The Seven Sisters -

From my journalling : “My mum, my daughter and I have all been enjoying the Lucinda Riley – Seven Sisters stories. The series follows the sisters, and begins as their adoptive father, who  they call Pa Salt, dies. They are each given a clue as to their past. Each book is the story of one of the sisters as they trace their origins all over the world.

The sisters are each named for one of the stars of the Pleiades (‘The Seven Sisters’) constellation. So far we know about six of the girls, but there is mystery surrounding a seventh sister, and her story is to be published later this year and is called ‘The Missing Sister'.
We are waiting impatiently!!”

For this layout I used a sketch by Jana Eubank, although I adapted it so much it's no longer much like the sketch!!

The Stardust paper was ideal for this page as it has many star constilations; I trimmed this down to 28.5 x 28.5cm and mounted it over a White Bazzill frame 2.5cm deep and 12 x 12cm in size.

I used a cut file by Paige Evans to cut a globe to represent all the travels in the books, I cut this from a matt silver card.

Six small photos of the book covers were arranged over the base of the globe, I used the chipboard Tando Tag and covered it with a scrap of Winter Magic paper. With some of the Sn@p Alpha stickers I added the title of the next book. I inked the edges, adding a large eyelet and some Baker's Twine. I outlined the letters to help them 'pop'.

With some silver thread and a few star sequins, I created the Seven Sisters star cluster in the top left of the layout.

I cut a piece of white Bazzill 10cm x 20cm and folded it in half. Then mounted my photo onto a piece of Admiral Bazzill and glued it to the front of the folded piece. I treated my journalling (printed over two pieces of card) in the same way as the photo and applied them to the inside of the folded card. I cut a tab and added this to the bottom to enable the front of the folder to be lifted.

Using some mini typed letter stickers from my stash I added further details.

I used the Sizzix Thinlits Delicate Alphabet Die set and silver glitter foam to cut the title.

That's the last of my layouts from the January kit, hope you like them - six layouts has to be good value for money!

September Papermaze Kit - Part 2

Lynn here today, back with the second pair of layouts using the Papermaze September Kit. The travel destination themed papers inspired me to stick with my continental theme from before, and create two more Parisian layouts featuring the artwork of the Metro station kiosks.

Before looking at how the layouts were made, here is a reminder of what you will find in the kit. For full details, please see earlier Blog post PART 1.

Metropolitan - This layout shows a photo of the entrance to the Art Nouveau style metro entrance designed by Hector Gumard. I wanted to pick out the colour and style of the cast iron kiosk to the Rome Station and so I used embossing enamel, and a font and to create the title.

To make this page I started by gutting the sheet of Ciao Bella - The Sound of Summer collection - Coastal Wood. Then I trimmed the Natural Bazzill down to 28cm x 28cm and inked the edges with Gathered twigs Distress Ink (I treated all the cut edges of the layout with the same ink), this was placed over the wood frame.

From the sheet of
Simple Stories - Simple Vintage Coastal collection - Paradise Found I fussy cut the palm tree and flowers and set them aside. Then from the rest of the sheet I punched two rows of Daisy fans using the Martha Stewart deep border punch. Then I cut three rows of fans from the Quartz Bazzill and two rows from the Mocha Divine Bazzill. These were trimmed to different lengths and arranged on the page. I divided the washi tape into three pieces and added two of them to the page between rows of punched Bazzill (saving the last piece of washi tape for the next page).

I typed my journalling and printed it out, then mounted it and the photo onto the pink map side of the Paradise Found paper. I arrange these onto the page together with the palm tree and flowers. and glued them in place, the photo and journalling were glued flat and the tree and flowers were mounted with 3D foam tape.

Next the title - I chose an Art Nouveau style font and adjusted the size of the letters so they were larger at the beginning and end and faded to smaller in the centre. I used some of the Mocha Divine Bazzill to cut the title, then embossed the letters with Stampendous Frantage Aged Teal Embossing Enamel. I arranged the letters across the top of the layout.

I embellished the page with some large flat-backed pearls and some pink gems. I also used the two thought tokens, tied with some of the twine from the kit and placed at them base of the tree.

Palais Royal - Kiosque des Noctambules - For this page, I chose a photo of the Palace Colette entrance to the Palaise Royal Station where we alighted for the
MuÅ›ee de Louvre.  This amazing structure designed by Jean-Michel Othaniel is made of blown glass beads threaded onto an aluminum structure. It is called 'The Kiosk of the Night Walkers' and has two cupolas - one representing day, the other night.

First I gutted the Blue Bazzill to make a frame 2.5cm deep. Over this I mounted the
Bo Bunny - Boulevard collection - De Versailles paper trimmed to 29cm x 29cm, print side up. I distressed the edges and inked them with Gathered Twigs Distress Ink. (the same ink was used to ink all the paper and card edges for this layout.) A piece 22cm x 17cm was gutted from the De Versailles paper and saved for later (for cutting position, see photo and gut under trimmed Blue Bazzill).

I cut remaining Blue Bazzill to measure 26cm x 21cm and trimmed the two long edges with a border punch (I used a Martha Stewart punch). This was placed over the gap on the paper. I flipped the piece of De Versailles paper harlequin side up and attached this over the trimmed Blue Bazzill.

I used some scraps of Stonehenge Bazzill and cut a 15.5cm scalloped circle and two scalloped strips 28cm x 3cm. I punched holes along the strips and laced them together with some cream seam binding ribbon. This was attached down the right side of the page with 3D foam tape. The scalloped circle was decorated with a 13.5 cm circle of
Ciao Bella - The Sound of Summer collection - Coastal Wood paper, music side up. The whole scalloped circle was mounted over the scalloped strips 9cm down from the top of the page.

I mounted the photo onto a scrap of the Coastal Wood paper and this was placed onto the left of the layout, again I used 3D foam tape.

To represent the day cupola I used red and yellow gems in a line above and below the photo on the harlequin points of the De Versailles paper. I used blue and aqua gems on the scallops to represent the night cupola.

For the title I used Pinkfresh Puffy Studio Puffy Alpha Stickers - Joyful Day. The subtitle was created with Pinkfresh Studio Mini Puffy Alpha Stickers - Everyday Musings and Just a Little Lovely.

I typed the journalling and mounted it onto Blue Bazzill, then I attached it to the circle.
I used the blue flower from the kit, with a few fronds punched from scraps of patterned paper using a Martha Stewart punch.

Finally I used the last piece of washi tape and ran this along the bottom of the layout.

That's all for the September kit, I will be back with October's kit soon.
Thanks for looking.

September Papermaze Kit - Part 2

Hello, Lynn back today with the second part of the September Papermaze kit. Beautiful soft shades of fawn and blues and a mix of paper styles.

Authentique - Poised - #1 Dress Form
Bo Bunny - Bee-utiful You collection - Charming
Ciao Bella - Broccato Estense - Rinascimento Estense
Kaisercraft - Journey collection - Globe Trotter

Pink Paislee -Indigo & Ivy - #02
Stamperia - Blue Land - Flower

Bazzill Cardstock - Twig and Wildberry Pie

Reverse side of patterned papers
Bazzill Cardstock

Embellishments
1/3 sheet of Tim Holtz clippings, 1x kraft tag, 6 wooden buttons, 3 paper flowers, 12" lace, 2 Dusty Attic chipboard pieces, strip of Doodlebug enamel dots, strip of pearls, Tim Holtz metal butterfly.

Rain Girl
A few months ago Scarlett was kitted out for the rain with a new coat and boots and wanted to wear them indoors!

This layout was based on the sheet of patterned paper from
Bo Bunny - Bee-utiful You collection - Charming. The dilemma here being that I liked both sides! So I worked out the area which would be covered with other elements and gutted a 5.5" x 6.5". I used the fawn dot side for the background. Keep a piece aside (at least 2.75" x 2.75") for the next layout.

With Distress Oxide Ink in Blueprint Sketch, I heavily inked the edges by applying the ink to the craft mat and adding some water, then applying to the paper with a wide brush. Then I allowed the ink to dribble in all directions. Once dry I stamped the trellis and daisies using stamps from 49 and Market - Gabi's Daisies set. I then flicked some more of the watered ink over the page and set it aside to dry.

I filled the gutted gap with some scrap cardstock from behind. Then I cut strips from various papers and Bazzill and also used various washi tapes from my stash to cover the gap. I applied these horizontally and vertically.

I arranged my photo over the left of the strips and added the kraft tag to the right of the photo. I added a blue organza ribbon to the tag. My journalling was created with a white gel pen. With various blue and white paper flowers from my stash I added a few small blossoms to the top of the tag. I placed three large daisies to the bottom right of the photo surrounded by smaller blue blossoms. Then I added a few more strips of paper and washi tape to the bottom left of the layout, added a few flowers to this as well.

My title was created with corrugated cardboard and a Sizzix Bigz XL alpha die - 'Handmade'. I inked the letters with the Blueprint Sketch Ink and flicked some water randomly over the top. Once dry I coated the letters with Glossy Accents.

Daddy's Girl

This lovely photo of Scarlett with her Dad was taken just before Christmas last year. The layout is inspired by the beautiful work of Anna Komenda.

The base of this layout is the Twig Bazzill. I worked out a grid system to give me nine blocks, these were lightly pencilled onto the card. They were about 1" in from the edges, with a gap of 0.5" between each block, the blocks themselves are about 3" x 3". Once this was worked out I rubbed the lines with an eraser so that they were very light. Then with a selection of blue Distress Inks I painted around eight of the blocks, overlapping the pencil lines. Then I flicked some watered ink over the whole page and set it aside to dry.

With wavy lines, I machine stitched around each of the eight painted blocks.
The ninth block was for the photo which I trimmed to 3.25" x 3.25".

I trimmed five pieces of patterned paper (both sides of Indigo & Ivy and the reserved piece of Charming) and three pieces of Bazzill (Wildberry Pie, Admiral and Stonehenge) to 2.75" x 2.75". I inked the edges of the patterned papers and stuck them into place centrally over each painted and stitched block. For the Bazzill squares I used a Tim Holtz layering Stencil (Tracks) and inked through the stencil onto two of the pieces. On the Wildberry Pie piece I used the stencil as a stamp to transfer ink onto the card. I inked the edges of the Bazzill squares, then stuck these into place too.

Then I treated each of the squares differently - 1 to 8 (left to right top to bottom).
1. A Scrapiniec Chipboard piece left over from a previous kit, and three clear Dew Drops.

2. Three enamel dots and a clipping sticker from the kit, together with a small foam heart from my stash.
3. A chipboard cloud inked with Distress Ink, and four clear Dew Drops from my stash. One of the chipboard grass tufts (inked) and a clipping sticker from the kit.
4. Nuvo Crystal Drops and blossoms from my stash with pearls and a clipping sticker from the kit.
5. The title made from Admiral Bazzill and Sizzix Thinlits Cutout Script alpha set. A little Baker's twine threaded through a wooden button and clipping sticker from the kit.

6. Another inked chipboard tuft and clipping sticker from the kit.
7. A daisy cut from the Sizzix Thinlits Wild Flower Stem #1 die set and scraps of Bazzill.
Three enamel dots and a clipp
ing sticker from the kit.
8. Admiral Bazzill and the Wild flower dies together with another clipping sticker and the metal butterfly from the kit.

That's all for the September kit, back with the October kit soon.
